Book From Darkness Into the Light

Download or read book From Darkness Into the Light written by Marino Restrepo and published by eBookIt.com. This book was released on 2014-07-31 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The work that you are holding in your hands now is the result of a human life full of drama, mysticism and experiences that may seem certainly contradictory for those who are far away from God. In these pages you will find a human life intertwined in the most serious errors and dangers resulting from an existence that lacked spiritual awareness and was flooded with the mundane ambitions of a heart that always wanted to do good and was able do so only after great effort. You will also find the fruit of the author's encounter with his Creator; in it, God's mercy and forgiveness rescued a wasted life from the ashes of sin and transformed it into bread of evangelization for the whole world. You will also be able to appreciate the Gospel telling us as how God takes the fool to embarrass the sage. Marino Restrepo never studied theology, neither was he educated in the religious sciences. However, during his life as a missionary, he has made possible for theology academicians and high-level ecclesiastic scholars to hear the simplicity of a Gospel infused in the author's heart by the Holy Spirit. You are kindly invited to navigate through the paths of God's miracle.

Book Enlighten Your Soul And Life

Download or read book Enlighten Your Soul And Life written by Carmela Strelecki and published by . This book was released on 2021-06-14 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Being spiritually enlightened means possessing wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. The dictionary meaning of "enlighten" is to illuminate, with its Old English roots meaning "to remove the dimness or blindness," which is usually used figuratively as "from one's eyes or heart," or to provide intellectual light, or "shed light upon." Seeking enlightenment is part of the human experience. Is its attainment possible? At every juncture of life, there are many ups and downs. And every moment you need motivation and encouragement. It may be from yourself and from your dear ones. However, the question arises, how? If nobody is around you, then, it's only you to motivate and encourage yourself; because life is a lone journey. First, think and then act. Always remember, that you're the only one who can change yourself and nobody can change you. If you want to light the darkness of your life, then enlighten your vision of life and clear your mission of life. It's a collection of inspirational poems.

Download or read book The Vision for You written by David Clayton and published by . This book was released on 2018-05-25 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Vision for You is the name of a process by which we, who have been through it, discovered our true calling in life - what we call our 'personal vocation.' Through this process we discovered the Great Fact - that we have a choice in life. We can choose to be happy or to be miserable. The goal is to be happy and to become, more and more, the people we were meant to be. We aim to lead a life that is a good, true, and beautiful path to a better life. We call this path the Way of Beauty. I believe that anyone who has a sense that their lives ought to be more fulfilled can benefit from this book if they are prepared to follow its directions as best they can. This book is a description of the transformation of life through a set of spiritual exercises called the Vision for You - it is a structured 'process,' or 'program,' of prayer, reflection, and good works. You don't have to be Catholic, or even Christian for this process to work - you just need to be open-minded enough to do what is suggested. The principles in this book come from the ancient tradition of Western spirituality going right back to the Church Fathers. You don't need to accept the Christian understanding of why it works in order for it to work. You just need to take the actions it describes and be willing to believe that there is a God. In other words, act as though he exists regardless of whether you believe it.

Book excerpt: IS IT credible that our world should have two futures? I have seen them. Two entirely distinct futures lie before mankind, one dark, one bright; one the defeat of all man's hopes, the betrayal of all his ideals, the other their hard-won triumph. At some date within the age that we call modern, some date not precisely known to me, for I looked back towards it from the distant futures as though searching in my remote past, the single torrent of terrestrial events is split, as though by a projecting promontory, so that it becomes thenceforth two wholly distinct and mutually exclusive surging floods of intricate existence, each one a coherent and actual history, in which the lives of countless generations succeed one another along separate ravines of time.

Book Resurrection in Mark s Literary Historical Perspective

Download or read book Resurrection in Mark s Literary Historical Perspective written by Paul Fullmer and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2007-06-19 with total page 271 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Through a careful reading of several ancient texts such as Chariton's Callirhoë, Fullmer identifies an ancient storytelling convention with roots in the Homeric tradition in which narratives of death and revival accentuate significant points in a story. In Mark's Gospel, resurrection narratives accentuate the power of Jesus' ministry (Mark 5:21-43) as well as the ironic disloyalty of Jesus' disciples as their failure is first assured (Mark 9:14-29) and later realized (Mark 16:1-18). The reader of this study will come to appreciate how the irony of the Gospel - a literary feature that is prominent in novelistic literature - is furthered by a novelistic application of the resurrection theme. These observations affirm an identification of the genre of the Gospel as novelistic literature. The study also examines themes of death and revival in texts of the Hebrew Bible, revealing a recurrent constellation of motifs. In these texts, Fullmer convincingly traces a Prophetic resurrection topos with characteristics that are compared to an Epic resurrection topos identified in the Homeric tradition. He then demonstrates how the two topoi merge in later, novelistic texts of Hellenistic Judaism such as the Gospel of Mark, witnessing to a widespread amalgamation of cultures that characterizes the Hellenistic period. This study supports a growing appreciation of the ethnic hybridity of the context that produced Mark's Gospel, contributing to the work of scholars who question an often overdrawn dichotomy between Jewish and Greek culture in the Hellenistic period. Moreover, the significant influence of epic, non-biblical traditions upon the Gospel becomes manifest without an assertion of direct dependence upon Homeric epic. Overall, the study provides a model for the examination of specific themes of the Gospel in light of related ancient literature which enhances modern understanding and appreciation of Mark's story.

Book excerpt: How does the production of performance engage with the fundamental issues of our advanced neo-capitalist age? André Lepecki surveys a decade of experimental choreography to uncover the dual meaning of ‘performance’ in the twenty-first century: not just an aesthetic category, but a mode of political power. He demonstrates the enduring ability of performance to critique and subvert this power, examining this relationship through five ‘singularities’ in contemporary dance: thingness, animality, persistence, darkness, and solidity. Exploring the works of Mette Ingvartsen, Yvonne Rainer, Ralph Lemon, Jérôme Bel and others, Lepecki uses his concept of ‘singularity’—the resistance of categorization and aesthetic identification—to examine the function of dance and performance in political and artistic debate.
