Highlighting the works of hispanic theologian Justo González, this book is the result of the First Lecture Series of The Justo González Center for Latino/a Ministries, held in 2012 under the general theme: "Justo: His Legacy to the Church." The Justo Center was established in 2011 by the Association for Hispanic Theological Education (AETH) as a centralized resource for Latino/a Ministries to address the need for accessible and affordable Latino-focused and Latino relevant resources. Through its annual Lecture Series, the Justo Center gathers denominational leaders, seminary professors, directors of Bible institutes, and pastors for reflections on topics relevant to the Hispanic church and community. The Justo González Center is housed on the Dunnam Campus of Asbury Theological Seminary in Orlando, Florida.

Although the gospel might be joyfully offered, it was not always received in the same spirit. And the Church was not always gracious with dissent and criticism. Even so, the Church continues to reach out to the least, the last, and the lost—attempting to bring them into the family of God. But for mission to be effective today, it must take advantage of indigenous resources and recognize its limitations as well as its gifts. This book broadly introduces prominent missionary practices and major historical figures using three perspectives. First, it takes into account the missionary activity proceeding from the margins rather than only discussing the center of theological and ecclesial activity. Second, it narrates the cross-cultural, cross-confessional, and cross-religious dynamics that characterize Christian missionary activity. And third, it emphasizes that much missionary activity is generated by national rather than international missionaries. The text concludes with a chapter on the postmodern and postcolonial world.

Peru's Spanish colonial past connects it to the mainstream of Western literature; but native traditions have survived and continue to flourish, both in Quechua and in Spanish. A History of Peruvian Literature sets in context and appraises, with ample quotation and analysis, all of the more significant Peruvian writings from the Renaissance onwards. The native tradition, the colonial period and the nineteenth century are the subjects of the first three chapters; then four chapters are devoted to the twentieth century, when Peruvian literary output is astonishing in its range, adventurousness and quality. All Spanish quoted is translated into English, the poetry in James Higgins' excellent verse; full bibliographies are provided for each author discussed.
