Book Chemistry Inorganic Qualitative Analysis in the Laboratory

Download or read book Chemistry Inorganic Qualitative Analysis in the Laboratory written by Clyde Metz and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Chemistry: Inorganic Qualitative Analysis in the Laboratory is a textbook dealing with qualitative analysis in the laboratory, as well as with the process of anion and cation analysis. The book presents an overview of the subject of inorganic qualitative analysis, including as the equipment, reagents, and procedures that are going to be used in the laboratory. Preliminary experiments include the classification of precipitates, handling precipitates, separation techniques, flame tests, Brown ring test, solvent extraction. The text also describes in detail how to prepare the experiment for anion and cation analysis such as testing for water solubility in a solid sample or the sodium carbonate treatment of a water-soluble sample. The book also explains the qualitative analysis for anions in preliminary and specific tests. In the qualitative analysis for cations, the student follows different procedures for Cation Groups I, II, III, IV or V. For example, the ions of Cation Group V cannot be precipitated by any Cation Groups I-IV reagents, nor by any single group reagent. The textbook is suitable for both chemistry teachers and freshmen students.

Book Introduction to Semimicro Qualitative Analysis

Download or read book Introduction to Semimicro Qualitative Analysis written by J. J. Lagowski and published by Pearson. This book was released on 2005 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For courses in General Chemistry (Lecture and Laboratory) and Qualitative Inorganic Analysis. This self-teaching lab manual presents a process for learning descriptive chemistry and the chemistry of the more common elements and their compounds in the format of a scheme of analysis. Students and challenged to call upon their manipulative and observational skills to provide the basis for identifying a substance or a mixture of substances. Part I describes the strategy of qualitative analysis so that students have a review of the principles readily available when they are engaged in the details of laboratory work; Part II presents the concepts involved in qualitative analysis, systematically dealing with the nature of the chemical compounds; Part III features well-tested analytical laboratory procedures.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Includes well designed and selected experiments on volumetric, gravimetric and spectrophotometric analysis, and an ecofriendly approach of analyzing a mixture incorporates the spot tests and semi-micro analysis. The safety instructions usually not available in practical books but necessary for those working in a chemistry laboratory are also included. A comprehensive theory has been introduced before the start of each experiment, and the observation tables with calculations are based on the actual experiments. Some questions related to the experiments for viva-voce are provided. This book provides training to the students and also serves as a reference book for the teachers and industrial chemists.

Book Synthesis and Technique in Inorganic Chemistry

Download or read book Synthesis and Technique in Inorganic Chemistry written by Gregory S. Girolami and published by University Science Books. This book was released on 1999 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Previously by Angelici, this laboratory manual for an upper-level undergraduate or graduate course in inorganic synthesis has for many years been the standard in the field. In this newly revised third edition, the manual has been extensively updated to reflect new developments in inorganic chemistry. Twenty-three experiments are divided into five sections: solid state chemistry, main group chemistry, coordination chemistry, organometallic chemistry, and bioinorganic chemistry. The included experiments are safe, have been thoroughly tested to ensure reproducibility, are illustrative of modern issues in inorganic chemistry, and are capable of being performed in one or two laboratory periods of three or four hours. Because facilities vary from school to school, the authors have included a broad range of experiments to help provide a meaningful course in almost any academic setting. Each clearly written & illustrated experiment begins with an introduction that hig! hlights the theme of the experiment, often including a discussion of a particular characterization method that will be used, followed by the experimental procedure, a set of problems, a listing of suggested Independent Studies, and literature references.

Book Laboratory Manual of Inorganic Chemistry

Download or read book Laboratory Manual of Inorganic Chemistry written by Rufus Phillips Williams and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2016-07-22 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Laboratory Manual of Inorganic Chemistry: One Hundred Topics in General, Qualitative, and Quantitative Chemistry Much time will often be saved if a. Model of the app. To be used in making an exp. Is set up for pupils to examine, and a few moments at the first of the hour are taken to explain the arrangement, manipula tion, points of connection, etc., of the app. Samples of quantities of materials may also be put out if desired, as beginners are quite sure to get too large an amount. Pupils should be cautioned repeatedly against using too much time, in a lazy way, in preparing app. And in doing an exp. If the laboratory period is quite short, it may be found desirable to use prepared app. As far as possible. Rubber stoppers instead of cork should almost always be used for this reason. Some teachers also prefer that pupils should write out their exps. Except the briefest jottings outside of the laboratory. To the author this does not seem advisable, while he admits that much more can be accomplished in that way, and much neater and more complete books may result. But if this plan is followed, pupils are apt to rely too much on the text-book and too little on themselves. By writing results at once they get into more accurate and rapid habits of observation. If an exp. Is done but hot written out during the period, the student should complete it very soon thereafter, as he has time. It is not necessary to do all the exps. Or to do them in the order given if you prefer some other order. In several cases (e. Exp. 62) the teacher may prefer to do the exp. In presence of the class, who then take notes instead of doing it themselves. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book The Compendious Manual of Qualitative Chemical Analysis

Download or read book The Compendious Manual of Qualitative Chemical Analysis written by C. W. Eliot and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-06-28 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Compendious Manual of Qualitative Chemical Analysis The authors have endeavored to include in this short treatise enough of the theory and practice of qualitative analysis "in the wet way," to bring out all the reasoning involved in the subject, and to give the student a firm hold upon the general principles and methods of the art. It has been their aim to give only so much of mechanical detail as is essential to an exact comprehension of the methods and to success in the actual experiments. Hence, the multiplication of different tests or processes, having essentially the same object, has been purposely avoided. For the same reason none of the rare elements are alluded to. The manual is intended to meet the wants of the general student, to whom the study is chiefly valuable as a means of mental discipline and as a compact example of the scientific method of arriving at truth. To professional students who wish to make themselves expert analysts, this little book offers a logical introduction to the subject, an outline which is trustworthy as far as it goes, but which needs to be filled in and enlarged by the subsequent use of some more elaborate treatise as a book of reference. Professor Johnson, of Yale, has supplied this need with his excellent edition of Fresenius's comprehensive manual. The authors believe that they have put into the following pages as much of inorganic qualitative analysis as is useful for training, and also as much as the engineer, physician, agriculturist or liberally educated man needs to know. The book has been written for the use of classes in the Institute of Technology, who have already studied the authors' "Manual of Inorganic Chemistry." It is simply an implement devised to facilitate the giving of thorough instruction to large classes in the laboratory. It is the authors' practice to examine their classes orally every four or five exercises, in order to secure close attention to the reasoning of the subject.
