Book LAB GD IN ELEM BACTERIOLOGY C

Download or read book LAB GD IN ELEM BACTERIOLOGY C written by William Dodge Frost and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2016-09-05 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Laboratory Guide in Elementary Bacteriology Some of the exercises can be performed in a few minutes, while others require several days for their completion. No attempt has been made to group them according to their length, nor to divide the text into lessons, but as far as possible they are arranged in the order in which they would be logically used in the laboratory. The right hand pages have been left for notes and drawings with the idea that notes in perma nent form are the only ones of value to the student in subsequent years. The charts of the various organisms furnish a most satisfactory means for recording the observa tions made during the study of a germ and are especially convenient for reference. Part I. Is the work required of students taking the General Course in which special emphasis is placed on the biology of bacteria. It is completed in the first semester. Part II. Which is given during the second semester includes the more specialized phases of the work, particularly as applied to the student preparing for medicine. References have been made to all of the leading English text-books and occasionally to original sources. It is expected that the student will make constant use of these references. Book A Laboratory Guide in Bacteriology

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Laboratory Guide in Bacteriology: For the Use of Students, Teachers, and Practitioners The Considerations which led the writer to add this laboratory guide of bacteriology to the number of such guides already in existence were of various nature and may be brie y set forth here. Probably no branch of biological science has advanced so rapidly during the past few years as the science of bacteriology, and it is difficult even for an active labora tory worker to keep abreast of this advance. A text book or guide fixes the status of the science at the time of its writing, but almost before it leaves the press it becomes antiquated. Revisions, corrections, and addi tions are necessary at short intervals in order to keep a publication of this kind approximately up to date. There is therefore, almost at any given moment room for a new publication to fill the want of a progressive instructor for a guide that gives the latest accepted rules and practices of the laboratory. The value of such a publication will be enhanced by a plan and arrangement of sufficient exibility and latitude to allow the instructor and the student to enter such additions and corrections as serve to bridge over the time between editions. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Manual of Elementary Bacteriology In presenting this manual we are endeavoring to meet a demand of the student for a briefer discussion of bacteriological principles than is found in the text-books now on the market. It has been our object to give the present status of bacterio logical knowledge in as concise a way as possible. To attain this we have avoided detailed description of old and obsolete methods which have only historic interest, and of theories which only tend to confound the student. Book Laboratory Directions for Beginners in Bacteriology

Download or read book Laboratory Directions for Beginners in Bacteriology written by Veranus A. Moore and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-11 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Laboratory Directions for Beginners in Bacteriology: An Introduction to Practical Bacteriology for Students and Practitioners of Comparative and of Human Medicine The rapid advances that are constantly being made in bacteriological work demand frequent changes in directions for laboratory practice. The subject-matter contained in this elementary work has been readjusted to satisfy these require ments, a few exercises on new topics have been introduced, and the methods given have been modified to better meet the conditions of student laboratory work. Continued experience has strengthened our former opinion that a laboratory guide which outlines the work for each exercise and gives specific instructions for the same is of great assistance to both student and teacher. I desire to express my thanks and appreciation to Mr. G. Franklin White and Mr. Walter E. King for many valuable suggestions that have been incorporated in the recast ing of these exercises. V. A. M. Book A Laboratory Course in Bacteriology for the Use of Medical Agricultural and Industrial Students Classic Reprint

Download or read book A Laboratory Course in Bacteriology for the Use of Medical Agricultural and Industrial Students Classic Reprint written by Frederic P. Gorham and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-11 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Laboratory Course in Bacteriology, for the Use of Medical, Agricultural, and Industrial Students Bacteriology is essentially a laboratory study. It is only by actual laboratory work that it can be taught in such a manner as to serve any useful purpose. It is also a subject of very general scientific interest. Courses in bacteriology are no longer confined to the medical schools, but are being introduced into colleges and agricultural and industrial schools. This volume has been prepared as a guide to the practical details of laboratory work. It is intended to present the subject in such a general way as to lay a broad foundation for later specialization in any branch of bacteriology. By a judicious selection the course can be made to conform to the requirements of medical, agricultural, or industrial students.
