A mother of six beautiful children, she had a career as a writer and speaker and was married to a busy attorney with his own practice. She was organized, capable of handling it all, armed with a killer to-do list and an up-to-date calendar. But those on the outside couldn’t see that Rachel was a mess, a bundle of anxiety and exhaustion. She was present physically to provide for her husband and kids, but far from present emotionally or spiritually. She stared down every day wishing it were already over. One night, in desperation, she cried out to God, and he answered in a startling, freeing, and life-changing way. If you are feeling more chaos than peace, more panic than joy, take heart. Make My Life Simple: Bringing Peace to Heart and Home gives you down-to-earth practical pointers to achieve peace and order: In your home: Establish a peaceful environment for you and your family In yourself: Design an ordered way of living to benefit your body, mind, and spirit with Rachel’s friend-to-friend advice In your spiritual life: Create order in your spiritual relationships with Jesus, yourself, and the others in your life ABOUT THE AUTHOR Rachel Balducci and her husband Paul have five strapping sons and one precious daughter. Rachel is a newspaper columnist for the Southern Cross and blogs at Testosterhome.net. She is a co-host of The Gist, a talk show for women on Catholic TV and the author of How Do You Tuck In A Superhero and other delightful mysteries of raising boys. In a former life, Rachel was a newspaper reporter, and she has a Masters in Journalism from the University of Georgia. These days she writes about faith, family and how keeping her bathroom clean will make her a saint.

Book Cura Personalis

Download or read book Cura Personalis written by Antonia C Johns and published by FriesenPress. This book was released on 2013-02 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The physician-patient bond is a significant relationship, intended to effect healing in our patient -- but is it the patient alone who benefits? We are all patients at some point. As a patient, how well do we know our self, how clearly do we communicate what troubles us to our doctor, to others? Even when we are feeling healthy, we remain aware of some aspects of our lives that need healing. For many of us, it is our relationships that need healing. This book is an essential exploration into the challenges inherent in the physician-patient dynamic and extends the findings to other important encounters. The reason it is appropriate for everyone, physician or not, is because the principles adhered to in its writing are universal in reach and eternally relevant. Its sole purpose is to promote healing in our world, individually and collectively. Whatever our vocation we are each called to be an essential effective healer in some way that is natural to us, our gift to the world. Here we are reminded that when we promote conditions for healing in our relationships we manifest miracles naturally.

Book The English Book and Its Marginalia

Download or read book The English Book and Its Marginalia written by Asako Nakai and published by Rodopi. This book was released on 2000 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about books that recount the story of encountering another book. There are various versions of the story told and retold from the heyday of imperialism up to the present day (Homi Bhabha calls it the trope of 'the discovery of the English book'); by considering each of these versions carefully, we may also give an alternative account of twentieth-century 'English literature' as the site of an intercultural discourse. This project is very much inspired by debate on postcolonial theory, namely, the debate between Said and Bhabha. Part I is devoted to the discussion of Conrad, especially of Heart of Darkness, and investigates how the novella has continually been reproduced to the extent that it represents 'the English Book' of colonial/postcolonial literatures. The chapter on Hugh Clifford (Ch.3) is virtually the first intensive critique of his novels, such as Saleh (1908), with a particular focus on their intertextual relations with Conrad's texts. Part II examines how the story of the English Book is repeated and revised in the texts of the following authors: Joyce Cary, Isak Dinesen, V. S. Naipaul, Kaiko Takeshi, and Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o.
