Book Game Over

Download or read book Game Over written by Azie Faison and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2007-08-07 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A cautionary tale about the life of former kingpin Azie Faison, who has become the fabric of street legend Faison was a ninth grade dropout who earned more than $100,000 a week selling cocaine in Harlem, New York, during the peak of America's "War on Drugs" between 1983 and 1990. Faison, along with two partners, was an urban prince with cars, jewels, and people -- in awe of this million-dollar phenomenon -- at his feet. His legacy has been praised by hip-hop's top names in their lyrics, and his life was the basis for the urban cult classic film Paid in Full starring Mekhi Phifer, Wood Harris, and rapper Cam'ron and produced by Jay-Z's Roc-A-Fella Films. In Game Over, Azie brings forth a powerful memoir of New York's perilous drug underworld and music industry, with an intellect and wisdom to empower and challenge the street culture he knows so very well.

Book Hustlers Beats and Others

Download or read book Hustlers Beats and Others written by James W. VanStone and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-07-12 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ranging from pool hustling to pornography, this book analyzes deviant branches of American life, dispels misconceptions about them, and throws new light on sociological theory and method. Each chapter radically dissents from one or more mainstream opinions about deviance. The first chapter examines the alleged causes for the decline of American poolrooms and finds them wanting, traces the rise and fall of poolrooms to historical changes in America's social structure, and cogently dissects the recent poolroom revival. The second chapter, reports a field study of a deviant occupation, pool hustling, describing the hustler's work situation and career from recruitment to retirement. In revealing how pool hustlers, although dedicated wholly to a vocation that merely breaks unenforced gambling laws, frequently supplement their income by means of outright felonies, the author develops a new theory of "crime as moonlighting." The third chapter sharply criticizes our criminology textbooks for avoiding the study of uncaught adult criminals in their natural environments. It demonstrates such research to be both necessary and practical with career felons as well as moonlighters. The author describes field techniques he has used with career felons, offers new findings gleaned by means of these techniques, and answers moral objections to such research. The forth chapter presents the first genuinely empirical study of the beat delinquent sub-culture, in which the author corrects some journalistic views such as that most beats are exhibitionists and some sociological ones such as that "retreatist" drug-users can meet neither legitimate nor criminal success norms. The final chapter, on the sociology of pornography, holds that the courts are wrong to claim that naturalistic erotic art is non-pornographic, and wronger still to claim that hard-core pornography is, in Mr. Justice Brennan's words, "utterly without redeeming social importance." The author's unusual blend of

Book Hustler s Dreams Federal Nightmares

Download or read book Hustler s Dreams Federal Nightmares written by Amir Sanchez and published by Urban Soul. This book was released on 2013-10-01 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The game once had three major rules that were never to be broken or compromised, regardless of how serious things got in one's life. Death before dishonor was more than just a code; it was the law of the streets, written in the blood of the OGs who killed and died upholding it. Back then, there were many rewards for those who followed the codes. On the other hand, the penalty was death for anyone who violated the laws, and anybody close to him. At the very least, that person would be blackballed from the hood and any illegal street ventures. Clearly the game as we once knew it has been changed by today's hustlers, gangsters, and crooks. Most of them have strayed far from the script. The majority of them would rather save their asses than save face. They would sooner live with shame and disgrace than die with honor and respect. With the current status of the game and the sheisty individuals who are playing it, is there anyone who will honor the past and acknowledge the rules of the game for what they used to be? A newcomer to the urban lit scene, Amir Sanchez delivers a realistic, gripping story of life on the streets, where hustlers still rule, but honor and loyalty have taken on new meaning.

"For it's a lot of you hustlers out there in the world, who's caught-up in the street game, but got the rules missing." Your father, uncles, or big brothers never had a chance to properly lace you in the game, so you guys are out there getting caught-up on stupid shit that is costing you your life. And a lot of you hustlers do have a lot of game and knowledge about yourself, but it's the things that you don't know or shall I say, that you never been properly exposed to that is getting you caught-up. And it's only right that I take the initiative to try to give you this wisdom and lace you in the Real Rules of life, which will broaden your understanding of the street game, and help you to better understand the consequences, pain, and scandalous deception that do exist out there. Hopefully, this will help you to make a logical decision on whether or not the game is for you? My only objective here is to educate you with the real and true facts that exist in the ghetto games. I'm not trying to inspire you to do wrong, nor do I encourage anyone to get involved in any type of criminal activities. I only desire to teach you the rules to the ghetto games, so that you can determine what is right or wrong for you! And make the decisions as to the path that you chose to take. I took mine, and it resulted in almost a lifetime in the prison system. And many others have made the same bad decisions and mistakes that I've made. That's why now; you have something that we never had that will provide you with a better understanding of the game that a lot of us who fucked our life off didn't have, a chance not to make that same mistake as we did. We all only have one life to live, and the choices that you make will surely determine the outcome of your journey through life. So in delivering this new and powerful urban message to you, it's only right that you pass this information along to your friends, comrades, family, brothers, and cousins! Because the more people who become aware of these very important rules, then the better the game would be, "No telling, this book might stop a young hustler from snitching on you, and others if he get's caught-up, or it might even save your life." The game is deep, and the more people who know about it, then the better off we all are. "Feel me!"

To achieve this you will need to put to one side starting hand charts, balance and GTO (Game Theory Optimal) play. Instead you will incorporate new concepts that may well place you outside your comfort zone. However, your style will now be forcing the other players at the table outside of their comfort zone and, unlike you, they won’t know how to adapt. Learn how to: Counter the auto-continuation-bettorDevelop a powerful donk-betting strategyUse the overbet, the check-raise and the three-barrel effectively As well as being a highly successful player, Alex Fitzgerald runs a poker consultancy that serves more than 1,000 professional poker players in 60 countries.
