This book was released on 2016-10-15 with total page 326 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A History of the Seven Holy Founders of the Order of the Servants of Mary The following list comprises the names of the chief authors whom I have consulted whilst engaged in this work: Pietro da Todi, General of the Servants of Mary, the third successor of St. Philip. He entered the Order at fifteen years of age, about the year 1295. His Chronicle of the First Beginnings of the Order is the only document written by a contemporary of the Founders, and was compiled in 1317, seven years after the death of St. Alexis. It contains many interesting details, intermingled with considerations partly laudatory and partly mystical. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Order of Servites, also known as the Servants of Mary, traces its origins to 13th-century Florence, Italy, where a group of seven men came together in a shared commitment to serve the Blessed Virgin Mary. This group, known as the Seven Holy Founders, renounced their worldly possessions and dedicated themselves to a life of poverty, chastity, and obedience. Inspired by their deep devotion to Mary and their desire to emulate her virtues of humility, compassion, and service, the Seven Founders formed a religious community focused on prayer, penance, and works of mercy. They sought to live out their vocation as Servants of Mary by ministering to the spiritual and material needs of those around them, especially the poor, the sick, and the marginalized. the novena prayer to the seven founders of the Servite Order offers believers a powerful means of seeking spiritual guidance, inspiration, and intercession. Through the example of these holy men, we are reminded of the importance of faith, humility, and dedication to God's will in our lives. As we reflect on their virtues and ask for their intercession, may we be strengthened in our own journey of faith and inspired to live lives of greater holiness and service

Book Seven Holy Founders of the Order of Servites

Download or read book Seven Holy Founders of the Order of Servites written by Akabogu Johnpaul and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2024-02-26 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The core of the spirituality of the Servites is their devotion to Mary. They revere her as the Mother of God and the Queen of Heaven, putting their trust in her maternal care and pleading for her intercession. Through a life of prayer, reflection, and service, they seek to emulate her qualities and become closer to her Son, Jesus Christ. The Servites strive to be obedient servants of Mary and representatives of God's kindness and love, bringing hope, healing, and reconciliation to a world in need via their dedication to prayer, communal living, and apostolic outreach. Saying a novena prayer is ultimately a personal choice that is influenced by one's own spiritual needs and preferences. A novena can be a useful tool for fostering our spiritual lives and getting closer to the source of all grace and love, whether we're looking for direction, assistance, or just a deeper connection with God. The seven founders' lives are encouraging instances of faith, humility, and devotion to God. We are able to obtain courage and inspiration for our own spiritual journey by considering their merits and requesting their intercession

Book The Religious Beliefs of America s Founders

Download or read book The Religious Beliefs of America s Founders written by Gregg L. Frazer and published by University Press of Kansas. This book was released on 2014-08-15 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Were America's Founders Christians or deists? Conservatives and secularists have taken each position respectively, mustering evidence to insist just how tall the wall separating church and state should be. Now Gregg Frazer puts their arguments to rest in the first comprehensive analysis of the Founders' beliefs as they themselves expressed them-showing that today's political right and left are both wrong. Going beyond church attendance or public pronouncements made for political ends, Frazer scrutinizes the Founders' candid declarations regarding religion found in their private writings. Distilling decades of research, he contends that these men were neither Christian nor deist but rather adherents of a system he labels "theistic rationalism," a hybrid belief system that combined elements of natural religion, Protestantism, and reason-with reason the decisive element. Frazer explains how this theological middle ground developed, what its core beliefs were, and how they were reflected in the thought of eight Founders: John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, James Wilson, Gouverneur Morris, James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and George Washington. He argues convincingly that Congregationalist Adams is the clearest example of theistic rationalism; that presumed deists Jefferson and Franklin are less secular than supposed; and that even the famously taciturn Washington adheres to this theology. He also shows that the Founders held genuinely religious beliefs that aligned with morality, republican government, natural rights, science, and progress. Frazer's careful explication helps readers better understand the case for revolutionary recruitment, the religious references in the Declaration of Independence, and the religious elements-and lack thereof-in the Constitution. He also reveals how influential clergymen, backing their theology of theistic rationalism with reinterpreted Scripture, preached and published liberal democratic theory to justify rebellion. Deftly blending history, religion, and political thought, Frazer succeeds in showing that the American experiment was neither a wholly secular venture nor an attempt to create a Christian nation founded on biblical principles. By showcasing the actual approach taken by these key Founders, he suggests a viable solution to the twenty-first-century standoff over the relationship between church and state-and challenges partisans on both sides to articulate their visions for America on their own merits without holding the Founders hostage to positions they never held.
