Book excerpt: John Horst (1801-1875) was the son of Christian Horst (1755-1837) and Susanna Nolt of Lancaster Co., PA and Washington Co., MD. He was the grandson of Joseph Horst who emigrated from Switzerland in 1730. He married (1) Elizabeth Eshleman (b.1801), daughter of Abraham Eshleman and Susanna Grabill, in 1820. They were the parents of eleven children. He married (2) Frances Boyer (1815-1886). His son Christian Horst married Leah Smith (b.1819) and they were the parents of nine children. Several generations of descendants are given. Descendants lived in Maryland. Other places of descendant residence not shown in text.
