From the Indian village to the Vermont border it de pends upon a surveyor's line and customs officials to distinguish it from the diocese of Montreal. The Canadians claim, with much plausibility, the entire territory as a natural appendage of Canada. The Americans assert that the St. Lawrence is the natural boundary line between the two countries.
