Download or read book The Township Officers Guide written by Hiram David Peck and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-10-30 with total page 540 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Township Officers' Guide: A Manual of the Law Relating to the Formation and Government of Townships, and the Rights and Duties of Township Officers in the State of Ohio, With Numerous Forms and Annotations of Decisions Again it becomes necessary to revise this work to keep abreast of current legislation. The se-called Australian ballot law made it necessary to rewrite the chapter on elections. The compulsory education laws and the statutes relating to sehool-books have been so extensively amended and expanded as to considerably increase the space occupied by the chapters devoted to schools and kindred subjects. Pains have been taken to include all pertinent matter. The index has been carefully revised, and is believed to be as full as is desirable. The book has met with favor heretofore and is certainly now more worthy of it than at any previous period. Book Municipal Home Rule

Download or read book Municipal Home Rule written by Wendy H. Gridley and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page 13 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Ohio, municipal corporations (cities and villages) have certain powers granted to them in Article XVIII of the Ohio Constitution that exist outside authority found in the Revised Code. Because these powers originate in the Constitution, laws passed by the General Assembly that interfere with them may be invalid as applied to municipal corporations unless those laws are sanctioned by other provisions of the Constitution. These powers, granted by the Constitution and known as "home rule" powers, include the power of local self-government, the exercise of certain police powers, and the ownership and operation of public utilities. This paper briefly discusses each of these powers.
