Scott Fitzgerald, stationed at Camp Zachary Taylor during World War I, frequented the bar in the famous Seelbach Hotel, immortalized in The Great Gatsby. Muhammad Ali was born in Louisville and won six Golden Gloves tournaments in Kentucky.

Residents referred to their new community as "Brunerstown," but it was officially named "Jeffersontown" in 1797, when it was incorporated as a city. It immediately became a hub of activity, with businesses lining its square and scattered throughout the surrounding areas. The growth of this charming city has never ceased.
