Book Wireless Telegraphy

Download or read book Wireless Telegraphy written by W. H. Marchant and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-06-27 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Wireless Telegraphy: A Handbook for the Use of Operators and Students This book is intended primarily for the use of those engaged in the practical operation of Radio-Telegraph installations and for students who already possess some knowledge of electrical science. The first portion of the book (Chapters I.-V.) deals with the production and radiation of electric oscillations and waves, followed, by a description of the various pieces of apparatus which go to make up a Radio-Telegraph installation and the principles which govern their construction and erection. Following this will be found descriptions of the principal systems. Chapter VI. is devoted to the Marconi system, which is the principal system employing the spark method of generating electrical oscillations. In this chapter will be found a full description of the Marconi I1⁄2 kw. ship set. This type of installation is in such very general use that hardly any students sitting for the P.M.G.'s certificate pass their examination on any other apparatus. For this reason considerable space has been devoted to it and the various pieces of apparatus fully illustrated. Chapter VII. deals with the Poulsen system, which Is representative of the arc method of generating electrical oscillations. Download or read book A Handbook of Wireless Telegraphy written by James Erskine-Murray and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-06-02 with total page 378 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Handbook of Wireless Telegraphy: Its Theory and Practice for the Use of Electrical Engineers, Students, and Operators This Handbook of Wireless Telegraphy (it need hardly be said) is not encyclopaedic nor, on the other hand, does it pretend to be a simple exposition of its subject for the benefit of the uninitiated. Rather it is intended for the use of those who, for reasons of business or pleasure, have already made themselves acquainted with at least some of the truths of the theory and practice of wireless telegraphy, and to whom, therefore, the ordinary technical terms will convey something more concrete than a mere definition in words. Few, if any, quotations are made in the volume which do not bear directly on wireless telegraphy, and those which are inserted are given fully. The reader should, therefore, have sufficient material on which to form his own estimate of the practical bearing of some of the more important researches of earlier workers in this subject.
