Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Handbook of Physics Measurements, Vol. 1 Only those experimental methods have been included that are strictly scientific and that can be depended upon to give good results in the hands of the average student. Although several pieces of apparatus, experimental methods, and derivations of formulas that possess some novelty appear, our fixed purpose has been to use the standard forms except in cases where an extended trial in large classes has demonstrated the superiority of the pro posed innovation. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Handbook of Physics Measurements, Vol. 1 As stated in the preface to one of the earlier forms in which a part of this book has appeared: "The aim of the present work is to furnish the student of pure or applied science with a self-contained manual of the theory and manipulation of those measurements in physics which bear most directly upon his subsequent work in other departments of study and upon his future professional career. "Only those experimental methods have been included that are strictly scientific and that can be depended upon to give good results in the hands of the average student. Although several pieces of apparatus, experimental methods, and derivations of formulæ that possess some novelty appear, our fixed purpose has been to use the standard forms except in cases where an extended trial in large classes has demonstrated the superiority of the proposed innovation. "It has been assumed that the experiment is rare that should be performed before the student understands the theory involved and the derivation of the formula required. Consequently the theory of each experiment is given in detail and the required formula developed at length. The more important sources of error, are pointed out, and means are indicated by which these errors may be minimized or accounted for. The book is designed to be commenced during the second collie year. The greater part of the experiments requires no mathematics beyond trigonometry and college algebra. But wherever the calculus methods would result in economy of time and mental effort they have been employed. No student except one specializing in physics would perform all 108 experiments included in the two volumes. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Trieste Publishing has a massive catalogue of classic book titles. Our aim is to provide readers with the highest quality reproductions of fiction and non-fiction literature that has stood the test of time. The many thousands of books in our collection have been sourced from libraries and private collections around the world. The titles that Trieste Publishing has chosen to be part of the collection have been scanned to simulate the original. Our readers see the books the same way that their first readers did decades or a hundred or more years ago. Books from that period are often spoiled by imperfections that did not exist in the original. Imperfections could be in the form of blurred text, photographs, or missing pages. It is highly unlikely that this would occur with one of our books. Our extensive quality control ensures that the readers of Trieste Publishing's books will be delighted with their purchase. Our staff has thoroughly reviewed every page of all the books in the collection, repairing, or if necessary, rejecting titles that are not of the highest quality. This process ensures that the reader of one of Trieste Publishing's titles receives a volume that faithfully reproduces the original, and to the maximum degree possible, gives them the experience of owning the original work.We pride ourselves on not only creating a pathway to an extensive reservoir of books of the finest quality, but also providing value to every one of our readers. Book Springer Handbook of Materials Measurement Methods

Download or read book Springer Handbook of Materials Measurement Methods written by Horst Czichos and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-04-13 with total page 1215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Handbook compiles advanced methods for materials measurement and characterization from the macroscopic to the nano-scale. Materials professionals need not only handbooks of materials data but clear guidelines and standards for how to measure the full spectrum of materials characteristics of new materials ans systems. Since materials science forms a bridge between the more traditonal fields of physics, engineering, and chemistry, unifying the varying perspectives and covering the full gamut of properties also serves a useful purpose. This handbook is the first dedicated to these practical and important considerations.

Book Handbook of Humidity Measurement Volume 1

Download or read book Handbook of Humidity Measurement Volume 1 written by Ghenadii Korotcenkov and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-03-15 with total page 626 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first volume of The Handbook of Humidity Measurement focuses on the review of devices based on optical principles of measurement such as optical UV, fluorescence hygrometers, optical and fiber-optic sensors of various types. Numerous methods for monitoring the atmosphere have been developed in recent years, based on measuring the absorption of electromagnetic field in different spectral ranges. These methods, covering the optical (FTIR and Lidar techniques), as well as a microwave and THz ranges are discussed in detail in this volume. The role of humidity-sensitive materials in optical and fiber-optic sensors is also detailed. This volume describes the reasons for controlling the humidity, features of water and water vapors, and units used for humidity measurement.
