It provides in clear, user-friendly form, tables which allow the calculation of the dates (and days) on which historical events have fallen or will fall, from AD 500 to 2100. It describes the calendars and other systems used for dating purposes in England from Roman times to the present, including regnal years. Lists of Easter dates, saints' days, popes, rulers of England and the Roman calendar are also given. In this updated and expanded edition, edited by Professor Michael Jones, the introductory materials for each set of tables has been revised. New tables for legal chronology, old and new style dates, Celtic Easter, adoption of Gregorian style, and the French Revolutionary calendar have been added, while the existing Anglo-Saxon regnal lists have been significantly revised. A Handbook of Dates is an essential tool for all researchers in British history.

Book Dates and Time

    Book Details:
  • Author : Lionel M. Munby
  • Publisher : Phillimore
  • Release : 1997
  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 90 pages

Download or read book Dates and Time written by Lionel M. Munby and published by Phillimore. This book was released on 1997 with total page 90 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The need to establish precise and accurate dates for the creation of documents, maps and other written sources is fundamental to the methodology of local history. We need to be able to place events in their proper order, and therefore must place documents and other sources in a comparable chronological order, and also need to establish the context of an event, a process, a specific source - how does the material or event which we are studying fit into the pattern of time and events in the wider world. The first part of this book discusses issues of the concept of time, and how people in the past have measured it and evolved a variety of dating systems, so that local historians and others can begin to appreciate just what 'time' and 'date' may have meant in the past. It also shows how historians can use older dating methods, such as regnal years, to ascribe dates to documents which they are studying, and elucidates confusing topics such as the date of New Year's Day and the Julian and Gregorian calendars. The second part comprises a series of detailed appendices which tabulate the regnal years, other calendars, saints' days and similar information of importance to local historians.

Book excerpt: Whether you’re newly together and eager to make it work or a longtime couple looking to strengthen and deepen your bond, Eight Dates offers a program of how, why, and when to have eight basic conversations with your partner that can result in a lifetime of love. “Happily ever after” is not by chance, it’s by choice– the choice each person in a relationship makes to remain open, remain curious, and, most of all, to keep talking to one another. From award-winning marriage researcher and bestselling author Dr. John Gottman and fellow researcher Julie Gottman, Eight Dates offers an ingenious and simple-to-implement approach to effective relationship communication. Here are the subjects that every serious couple should discuss: Trust. Family. Sex and intimacy. Dealing with conflict. Work and money. Dreams, and more. And here is how to talk about them—how to broach subjects that are difficult or embarrassing, how to be brave enough to say what you really feel. There are also suggestions for where and when to go on each date—book your favorite romantic restaurant for the Sex & Intimacy conversation (and maybe go to a yoga or dance class beforehand). There are questionnaires, innovative exercises, real-life case studies, and skills to master, including the Four Skills of Intimate Conversation and the Art of Listening. Because making love last is not about having a certain feeling—it’s about both of you being active and involved.

Book excerpt: Preface UGC NET exam pattern 2022 has been released by National Testing Agency (NTA) along with the official notification. As per the UGC NET 2022 exam pattern, the exam consists of two papers- Paper 1 and Paper 2. Both papers are comprised of objective-type multiple-choice questions (MCQs). There is no break between Paper 1 and 2. The exam will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. The medium of the UGC NET question paper is in English and Hindi languages only. Till December 2018, the UGC NET exam pattern was such that the test consisted of two papers (Paper 1 and 2) that were conducted in two different sessions. Candidates had to complete both the papers (Paper 1 and 2) in a duration of one and two hours, respectively. However, in June 2019, NTA changed the exam pattern as per which candidates now have to give both the papers in a single three-hour duration. In UGC NET Paper 1, the official website of NTA informs, "The questions will be generic in nature, intending to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate."This book ‘A Handbook for General Paper on Teaching & Research Aptitude (Paper -I) of UGC-NET & PET Exams: A Crash Course for all Aspiring Students’ (For All 101 Subjects) is an outcome of not just efforts from the authors, but contributions by many Research Scholars.
