"I am informed (though not officially) that Governor Claiborne the Governor of this Territory is removed & Daniel Clark (whom I enclosed you a letter to) is appointed in his place, they are I believe both of them personally my friends, though I have openly disapproved of some parts of Gov. Claibornes administration, he has become extremely unpopular in this Territory except amongst a party of small number, his removal is certainly a wise executive measure.
