Book Parallel Computing Fundamentals And Applications Proceedings Of The International Conference Parco99

Download or read book Parallel Computing Fundamentals And Applications Proceedings Of The International Conference Parco99 written by Erik H D'hollander and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2000-05-31 with total page 788 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This millennium will see the increased use of parallel computing technologies at all levels of mainstream computing. Most computer hardware will use these technologies to achieve higher computing speeds, high speed access to very large distributed databases and greater flexibility through heterogeneous computing. These developments can be expected to result in the extended use of all types of parallel computers in virtually all areas of human endeavour. Compute-intensive problems in emerging areas such as financial modelling and multimedia systems, in addition to traditional application areas of parallel computing such as scientific computing and simulation, will stimulate the developments. Parallel computing as a field of scientific research and development will move from a niche concentrating on solving compute-intensive scientific and engineering problems to become one of the fundamental computing technologies. This book gives a retrospective view of what has been achieved in the parallel computing field during the past three decades, as well as a prospective view of expected future developments./a

Book Modern Big Data Architectures

Download or read book Modern Big Data Architectures written by Dominik Ryzko and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2020-03-31 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Provides an up-to-date analysis of big data and multi-agent systems The term Big Data refers to the cases, where data sets are too large or too complex for traditional data-processing software. With the spread of new concepts such as Edge Computing or the Internet of Things, production, processing and consumption of this data becomes more and more distributed. As a result, applications increasingly require multiple agents that can work together. A multi-agent system (MAS) is a self-organized computer system that comprises multiple intelligent agents interacting to solve problems that are beyond the capacities of individual agents. Modern Big Data Architectures examines modern concepts and architecture for Big Data processing and analytics. This unique, up-to-date volume provides joint analysis of big data and multi-agent systems, with emphasis on distributed, intelligent processing of very large data sets. Each chapter contains practical examples and detailed solutions suitable for a wide variety of applications. The author, an internationally-recognized expert in Big Data and distributed Artificial Intelligence, demonstrates how base concepts such as agent, actor, and micro-service have reached a point of convergence—enabling next generation systems to be built by incorporating the best aspects of the field. This book: Illustrates how data sets are produced and how they can be utilized in various areas of industry and science Explains how to apply common computational models and state-of-the-art architectures to process Big Data tasks Discusses current and emerging Big Data applications of Artificial Intelligence Modern Big Data Architectures: A Multi-Agent Systems Perspective is a timely and important resource for data science professionals and students involved in Big Data analytics, and machine and artificial learning.

Book Computational Fluid and Solid Mechanics

Download or read book Computational Fluid and Solid Mechanics written by K.J. Bathe and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2001-05-21 with total page 975 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The MIT mission - "to bring together Industry and Academia and to nurture the next generation in computational mechanics is of great importance to reach the new level of mathematical modeling and numerical solution and to provide an exciting research environment for the next generation in computational mechanics." Mathematical modeling and numerical solution is today firmly established in science and engineering. Research conducted in almost all branches of scientific investigations and the design of systems in practically all disciplines of engineering can not be pursued effectively without, frequently, intensive analysis based on numerical computations. The world we live in has been classified by the human mind, for descriptive and analysis purposes, to consist of fluids and solids, continua and molecules; and the analyses of fluids and solids at the continuum and molecular scales have traditionally been pursued separately. Fundamentally, however, there are only molecules and particles for any material that interact on the microscopic and macroscopic scales. Therefore, to unify the analysis of physical systems and to reach a deeper understanding of the behavior of nature in scientific investigations, and of the behavior of designs in engineering endeavors, a new level of analysis is necessary. This new level of mathematical modeling and numerical solution does not merely involve the analysis of a single medium but must encompass the solution of multi-physics problems involving fluids, solids, and their interactions, involving multi-scale phenomena from the molecular to the macroscopic scales, and must include uncertainties in the given data and the solution results. Nature does not distinguish between fluids and solids and does not ever repeat itself exactly. This new level of analysis must also include, in engineering, the effective optimization of systems, and the modeling and analysis of complete life spans of engineering products, from design to fabrication, to possibly multiple repairs, to end of service.
