Book Grignard Reagents and Transition Metal Catalysts

Download or read book Grignard Reagents and Transition Metal Catalysts written by Janine Cossy and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2016-04-25 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1912, the Chemistry Nobel Prize was awarded for the discovery of the so-called Grignard reagents. Nowadays, many transition metal variants are developed to modify reactivity and selectivity of the C–C bond formation reaction. The Grignard reaction is one of the fundamental organometallic reactions, often used in alcohol syntheses. With transition metals like iron, cobalt and nickel or with noble metals like copper, silver and palladium, modern Grignard reagents can be designed in reactivity, selectivity and functional group tolerance. This book, written by international experts, presents an overview on timely Grignard chemistry involving transition metals.

The second chapter is an overview of the methods of preparations of aromatic nitroso and polynitroso compounds, including classical synthetic methods and some new preparative approaches. The third part deals with the physico-chemical properties of nitroso aromates and azodioxides, its structure, crystallography, quantum chemical calculations, spectroscopy, typical reactions, and especially it is focused on the dimerizations in the solid-state. In the fourth chapter is represented organometallic chemistry of nitroso aromatic molecules and its applications in catalysis. The last part of the book deals with the behavior of this class of compounds in the biological systems, reactions with biomolecules and the use in toxicology.

Book Electrochemical Reactions and Mechanisms in Organic Chemistry

Download or read book Electrochemical Reactions and Mechanisms in Organic Chemistry written by J. Grimshaw and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2000-12-01 with total page 415 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Electrochemical reactions make significant contributions to organic synthesis either in the laboratory or on an industrial scale. These methods have the potential for developing more "green" chemical synthesis. Over recent years, modern investigations have clarified the mechanisms of important organic electrochemical reactions. Progress has also been made in controlling the reactivity of intermediates through either radical or ionic pathways. Now is the time to gather all the electrochemical work into a textbook. As an essential addition to the armory of synthetic organic chemists, electrochemical reactions give results not easily achieved by many other chemical routes. This book presents a logical development of reactions and mechanisms in organic electrochemistry at a level suited to research scientists and final year graduate students. It forms an excellent starting point from which synthetic organic chemists, in both academia and industry, can appreciate uses for electrochemical methods in their own work. The book is also a reference guide to the literature.

Book Side Reactions in Organic Synthesis

Download or read book Side Reactions in Organic Synthesis written by Florencio Zaragoza Dörwald and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2006-03-06 with total page 389 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most syntheses in the chemical research laboratory fail and usually require several attempts before proceeding satisfactorily. Failed syntheses are not only discouraging and frustrating, but also cost a lot of time and money. Many failures may, however, be avoided by understanding the structure-reactivity relationship of organic compounds. This textbook highlights the competing processes and limitations of the most important reactions used in organic synthesis. By allowing chemists to quickly recognize potential problems this book will help to improve their efficiency and success-rate. A must for every graduate student but also for every chemist in industry and academia. Contents: 1 Organic Synthesis: General Remarks 2 Stereoelectronic Effects and Reactivity 3 The Stability of Organic Compounds 4 Aliphatic Nucleophilic Substitutions: Problematic Electrophiles 5 The Alkylation of Carbanions 6 The Alkylation of Heteroatoms 7 The Acylation of Heteroatoms 8 Palladium-Catalyzed C-C Bond Formation 9 Cyclizations 10 Monofunctionalization of Symmetric Difunctional Substrates

Download or read book C C Bond Activation written by Guangbin Dong and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-09-18 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The series Topics in Current Chemistry presents critical reviews of the present and future trends in modern chemical research. The scope of coverage is all areas of chemical science including the interfaces with related disciplines such as biology, medicine and materials science. The goal of each thematic volume is to give the non-specialist reader, whether in academia or industry, a comprehensive insight into an area where new research is emerging which is of interest to a larger scientific audience. Each review within the volume critically surveys one aspect of that topic and places it within the context of the volume as a whole. The most significant developments of the last 5 to 10 years are presented using selected examples to illustrate the principles discussed. The coverage is not intended to be an exhaustive summary of the field or include large quantities of data, but should rather be conceptual, concentrating on the methodological thinking that will allow the non-specialist reader to understand the information presented. Contributions also offer an outlook on potential future developments in the field. Review articles for the individual volumes are invited by the volume editors. Readership: research chemists at universities or in industry, graduate students

Die Autoren diskutieren vom präparativen Standpunkt aus Grenzen, Einflüsse, strukturelle Effekte und die Wahl der geeigneten Reaktionsbedingungen. Mit ausführlichen Vorschriften und vielen Beispielen. (11/98)

Book Ring Chain Tautomerism

    Book Details:
  • Author : Raimonds Valters
  • Publisher : Springer
  • Release : 2012-03-14
  • ISBN : 9781468448856
  • Pages : 278 pages

Download or read book Ring Chain Tautomerism written by Raimonds Valters and published by Springer. This book was released on 2012-03-14 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After studying ring-chain tautomerism of keto ami des and related derivatives of functionalized carboxylic acids for more than ten years, the authors consider it useful to summarize available results on these prototropic equilibria. First attempts to systematize the material were published by Jones in 1963 (Chapter 1, ref. 11). Much, sometimes contradictory, experimental data were scattered about the literature at that time; spectroscopic methods, applied to this field during the last two decades, were needed to revise several previous concepts. In the following years special aspects of ring-chain tautomerism have been discussed occasionally, but no attempt was previously made to cover the whole field. This review is designed to provide a comprehensive compilation of ring-chain tautomerism with one exception: carbohydrates which have already been treated repeatedly, have been omitted. The book is based on a monograph published in Russian: R. E. Valters, Ring-Chain Isomerism in Organic Chemistry. Zinatne. Riga, 1978. There fore, the arrangement and development of the theme is due mainly to one of the authors (R.E.Y.). In the present work the literature has been covered until the end of 1982.
