Book A First Reader Un Primero Libro

Download or read book A First Reader Un Primero Libro written by Sharon Paul and published by . This book was released on 2013-07-04 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Should I be surprised? I know this series of bilingual readers is based on a teaching method that is over 100 years old. But the method still works! After buying and trying to introduce many different Spanish language books, videos, and software to my own children...it was this classic book that my children were drawn to, and they really began learning and using the Spanish language from it. My children enjoy the book because they are able to read it and understand it on their own. They only need me to help with some of the pronunciation of new words. Because the book is dual language, Spanish speaking children may also begin learning and reading English the same way." - Ann P., ESL teacher and homeschooling momChildren learn the new vocabulary and grammar of a new language effortlessly when the stories are presented as a primary reader. The sentences are predictable and repetitive, offering sequence and familiarity, allowing the child to read in the new language independently from the start. In this beginning reader, Spanish and English are presented together using a classical language learning method including repetition, pictures, and dual language support. You or your child will start with very short phrases such as "Mira al bebe./See the baby." By the end of the book you will be able to read and fully understand longer sentences and paragraphs such as "Yo puedo montar el caballo y el caballo de mi Papa es grande./I can ride the horse and my dad's horse is big." The sentences and phrases are presented so that vocabulary, grammar, and reading in the target language is learned almost effortlessly.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A First Reader This First Reader is a second book of a basal series, and grades naturally and easily from the Primer. In its preparation great care has been taken to adapt the reading matter to the child's understanding and to awaken and hold his interest. For this reason the sen tenoes are short and clear in thought. Their simplicity will lighten the work of the teacher. Following the plan of the Primer, the use of a limited number of phonograms is emphasized, which, rightly pre sented, will give the child power to recognize quickly each new word. The stories of nature, animal life, home, and coun try are appropriate to the season of the year. They will appeal to the experiences of childhood and develop humane and patriotic feeling. All new words are placed at the beginning of the les sons and repeated as often as possible without sacrificing literary strength. Words from the Primer are freely used, and the Primer vocabulary is introduced at the beginning of this book, that the teacher may use the words for occasional review lessons and language work. Book The Early Reader in Children s Literature and Culture

Download or read book The Early Reader in Children s Literature and Culture written by Jennifer Miskec and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2015-12-22 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first volume to consider the popular literary category of Early Readers – books written and designed for children who are just beginning to read independently. It argues that Early Readers deserve more scholarly attention and careful thought because they are, for many younger readers, their first opportunity to engage with a work of literature on their own, to feel a sense of mastery over a text, and to experience pleasure from the act of reading independently. Using interdisciplinary approaches that draw upon and synthesize research being done in education, child psychology, sociology, cultural studies, and children’s literature, the volume visits Early Readers from a variety of angles: as teaching tools; as cultural artifacts that shape cultural and individual subjectivity; as mass produced products sold to a niche market of parents, educators, and young children; and as aesthetic objects, works of literature and art with specific conventions. Examining the reasons such books are so popular with young readers, as well as the reasons that some adults challenge and censor them, the volume considers the ways Early Readers contribute to the construction of younger children as readers, thinkers, consumers, and as gendered, raced, classed subjects. It also addresses children’s texts that have been translated and sold around the globe, examining them as part of an increasingly transnational children’s media culture that may add to or supplant regional, ethnic, and national children’s literatures and cultures. While this collection focuses mostly on books written in English and often aimed at children living in the US, it is important to acknowledge that these Early Readers are a major US cultural export, influencing the reading habits and development of children across the globe.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A First Reader: Designed to Teach Animated, Expressive, Oral Reading There is no break between the Primer and First Reader of this series. To make the transition from one book to the other very simple and easy, the last thirty new words introduced into the Primer are used in the first twenty pages of the First Reader in new combinations. Thus the same vocabulary is being used, but the words are in entirely new relations. This makes the bridge between the Primer and First Reader very easy to cross. The vocabulary is carried on through the first half of the book in connection with subjects suited to arouse the active interest of children. The form of the stories then changes, but without the slightest break in the grading of the vocabulary. The second part consists of a simple, connected story of a kitten, called The Life of Snowball. It is arranged in this form so that the children may be gradually led from short, simple statements of inter esting objects and actions to the smooth, easy sentence forms of the Second Reader. The next part of the book is in still a different form. It couples the play idea of the dolls with the true home life of the children themselves. Here alsothe vocabulary is drawn wholly from Objects familiar to children in their own homes, thus making the inter est vital and keen. Each doll is mistress of a certain room in the doll house, and a simple title to each story forms another step toward the appreciation of the Second Reader. This reader closes with a short series of stories called The Boys' Club, which will be found especially interesting to boys of the First Reader age. The vocabulary is developed in the same careful way to the very end of the book. As in the Primer, the new words are found at the head of each lesson. The First Reader and Primer stand as com panion books in aim and method and so close is the relation of one to the other, that the First Reader needs the support of the Primer to round out the course as planned. Note. While there are words in this book, there are only 255 new words. There are 32 words carried over from the Primer, which makes 287 fundamental words altogether. Since Expressive Oral Reading is the aim of this series, the advantages of the limited vocabulary will readily appear.
