This story follows several of my fighters but focuses on one, Tyler Rushing, who not only fights in the ring, but fights against his desire for the one girl he can't have. Check out the conclusion to his story in Tyler's Undoing.*~*~* When you're told to stay away from someone or something it only drives the urge to go after it more. In this case, that was exactly what happened. For years, Gabriella Reynolds--younger sister of MMA's Heavyweight Champion, Matt Reynolds--was warned by him to stay away from his fighter friends; she deserved better and they would only break her heart. Did she listen? Yes, for a while, but temptation can only consume you so much until you fall into its trap. There's a certain fighter she's interested in, and it just so happens that he's her brother's best friend, the only one that is completely off limits to her. However, she's not the only one fighting temptation. Tyler Rushing can't deny his attraction to her, but he's afraid she'll want more and he can't give that to her. When he finds out that's not the case ... everything changes. Secrets can be dangerous, but they can also be thrilling and intense. Gabriella and Tyler have no choice but to keep their time together a secret ... and it's a secret that'll stay with them forever. ** Make sure to check out the other novels in the Gloves Off series: A Fighter's Desire - Part One A Fighter's Desire - Part Two Tyler's Undoing Ryley's Revenge Winter Kiss: Ryley and Ash Paxton's Promise Camden's Redemption Kyle's Return Also, if you want to see more of the Gloves Off characters, be sure to check out the Gloves Off - Next Generation series: Craving the Fight Taking the Fight Wanting the Fight (More to come) This book will resonate with people looking to read: free romance reads, free romance books, free beach reads, free romance series starter, free books, romantic suspense, sports romance, MMA fighters, MMA fighter romance, underground fighting, angsty reads, angsty romance, dangerous love, hidden secrets, secret identity romance, friends to lovers romance, second chance romance, enemies to lovers romance, secret baby, secret baby romance, secret pregnancy trope, surprise baby, small-town romance, feel-good romance, contemporary romance, romantic comedy, series, romantic comedy series, racy, sexy, heartwarming, heart-warming romance, family, love, love books, kissing books, emotional journey, contemporary, contemporary romance, romance series, long series, long romance series, sassy, captivating romance, hot, hot romance, forbidden love, sparks, loyalty, swoon, beach romance, books for summer, books for the beach, beach series, wicked, dirty, fierce, alpha heroes, funny romance, laugh romance, modern romance, smart romance, something funny to read, billionaire, billionaire romance, love story, millionaire, wealthy heroes, happily ever after, happy ending, lighthearted romance, light romance, hot romance, romance for adults, funny romance, funny romance new, swoonworthy, romance series, romance series, romance books, beach reads, new adult, small-town, funny, female, stories, sensual, sensual romance, alpha male, dominant male, hot guy, fun summer reads, love and friendship, new romance series, hot romance series, steamy romance, romance series, family romance, big family, friend romance, friends to lovers, contemporary crush, love story, romance love, new adult romance, billionaire romance, contemporary romance and sex, romance billionaire series, friendship.

Book excerpt: Two is always better than one. Knowing a fighter's desires and needs are one thing, but actually experiencing them is another. A Fighter's Desire gives you not one, but two stories full of hardcore passion, angst, and action that'll leave you breathless and aching for more. Part One: Ryley and Camden Jameson, well-known MMA fighters and identical twins, were just as aggressive and passionate in the bed as they were in the ring. They loved a good fight, and that's exactly what they got when they met Ashleigh Warren. The brothers had a habit of sharing things-including women-and she happened to be the only one they truly craved. However, the problem was getting her to agree to their proposition. It was one she couldn't refuse, but she knew it wouldn't be easy to win. Nonetheless, she sure as hell was going to enjoy it. Part Two: Fighting temptation isn't easy when you're constantly around the one person you've desired more than any other. Gabriella Reynolds was warned by her brother, MMA Heavyweight Champion Matt Reynolds, to stay away from his friends; they only wanted one thing, and in the end they'd break her heart. She heard it, but the desire to have the one man she couldn't led her down the forbidden path to pursue him; he also happens to be one of her brother's best friends. Tyler Rushing can't deny his attraction to her, and he's afraid she'll want more than what he can give her. When he finds out that's not the case ... everything changes. They have no choice but to keep their time a secret, and it's a secret that'll stay with them forever.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: **Introductory Prequel Novella to the Gloves Off series by NYT and USA TODAY Bestselling author, L.P. Dover. This is just an introduction to the characters. Their full stories will come with their novels.** Two is always better than one. What would you do if you were given the chance to spend the night with not one, but two fighters? Would you do it? Could you open yourself up to the pleasures they offered and do exactly what they said in order to pass on to the next round? It was common knowledge that Ryley and Camden Jameson, well-known MMA fighters and identical twins, were just as aggressive and passionate in the bed as they were in the ring. The only problem was that if you didn't pass their test on the first night, then you didn't proceed to the next round. They loved a good fight, and that's what they got when they met Ashleigh Warren. Ashleigh knew what was going to happen when the twins approached her with a proposition, and needless to say, she knew exactly how to handle them ... or so she thought. The rules had changed, and in order to get them both she had to first spend one night with each and last until they were done with her. It was a proposition she couldn't refuse, but she knew it wouldn't be easy to win. However, it was one that she was going to enjoy.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From Cutie Honey and Sailor Moon to Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, the worlds of Japanese anime and manga teem with prepubescent girls toting deadly weapons. Sometimes overtly sexual, always intensely cute, the beautiful fighting girl has been both hailed as a feminist icon and condemned as a symptom of the objectification of young women in Japanese society. In Beautiful Fighting Girl, Saitō Tamaki offers a far more sophisticated and convincing interpretation of this alluring and capable figure. For Saitō, the beautiful fighting girl is a complex sexual fantasy that paradoxically lends reality to the fictional spaces she inhabits. As an object of desire for male otaku (obsessive fans of anime and manga), she saturates these worlds with meaning even as her fictional status demands her ceaseless proliferation and reproduction. Rejecting simplistic moralizing, Saitō understands the otaku’s ability to eroticize and even fall in love with the beautiful fighting girl not as a sign of immaturity or maladaptation but as a result of a heightened sensitivity to the multiple layers of mediation and fictional context that constitute life in our hypermediated world—a logical outcome of the media they consume. Featuring extensive interviews with Japanese and American otaku, a comprehensive genealogy of the beautiful fighting girl, and an analysis of the American outsider artist Henry Darger, whose baroque imagination Saitō sees as an important antecedent of otaku culture, Beautiful Fighting Girl was hugely influential when first published in Japan, and it remains a key text in the study of manga, anime, and otaku culture. Now available in English for the first time, this book will spark new debates about the role played by desire in the production and consumption of popular culture.

Book excerpt: “I hated every minute of training, but I said: ‘Don’t quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.’” – Muhammad Ali Behind every goal accomplished is a journey filled with confidence, success, and admiration but also challenges, disappointments, and moments of despair. But even when there are hardships, unseen struggles, dark times of indecision, injuries, and financial problems, there are also moments of motivation, self-awareness, and coping strategies to help you push through the negative to reach the positive. Everyone has a story of success. Everyone has a story of failure or missed opportunities. So You Want to Be a Fighter? collects these kinds of stories in one place—told by well-known (and not-so-well-known) trainers, boxers, and MMA fighters, including Chris Algieri, former junior welterweight boxing champion and undefeated kickboxer. You’ll hear about accomplishments, mishaps, tears of joy and pain, moments of utter frustration but also jubilation, and stories about what might have been if things had gone a little bit differently. If you’ve ever wondered what boxers and MMA fighters endure behind the scenes—maybe you yearn to join them?—this is the book that will bring you all the different aspects to competing in a fight sport.

Book Fighting for Peace in Somalia

Download or read book Fighting for Peace in Somalia written by Paul D. Williams and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2018-06-14 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fighting for Peace in Somalia provides the first comprehensive analysis of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), an operation deployed in 2007 to stabilize the country and defend its fledgling government from one of the world's deadliest militant organizations, Harakat al-Shabaab. The book's two parts provide a history of the mission from its genesis in an earlier, failed regional initiative in 2005 up to mid-2017, as well as an analysis of the mission's six most challenges, namely, logistics, security sector reform, civilian protection, strategic communications, stabilization, and developing a successful exit strategy. These issues are all central to the broader debates about how to design effective peace operations in Africa and beyond. AMISOM was remarkable in several respects: it would become the African Union's (AU) largest peace operation by a considerable margin deploying over 22,000 soldiers; it became the longest running mission under AU command and control, outlasting the nearest contender by over seven years; it also became the AU's most expensive operation, at its peak costing approximately US$1 billion per year; and, sadly, AMISOM became the AU's deadliest mission. Although often referred to as a peacekeeping operation, AMISOM's troops were given a range of daunting tasks that went well beyond the realm of peacekeeping, including VIP protection, war-fighting, counterinsurgency, stabilization, and state-building as well as supporting electoral processes and facilitating humanitarian assistance. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: #1 New York Times Bestseller “Funny and smart as hell” (Bill Gates), Allie Brosh’s Hyperbole and a Half showcases her unique voice, leaping wit, and her ability to capture complex emotions with deceptively simple illustrations. FROM THE PUBLISHER: Every time Allie Brosh posts something new on her hugely popular blog Hyperbole and a Half the internet rejoices. This full-color, beautifully illustrated edition features more than fifty percent new content, with ten never-before-seen essays and one wholly revised and expanded piece as well as classics from the website like, “The God of Cake,” “Dogs Don’t Understand Basic Concepts Like Moving,” and her astonishing, “Adventures in Depression,” and “Depression Part Two,” which have been hailed as some of the most insightful meditations on the disease ever written. Brosh’s debut marks the launch of a major new American humorist who will surely make even the biggest scrooge or snob laugh. We dare you not to. FROM THE AUTHOR: This is a book I wrote. Because I wrote it, I had to figure out what to put on the back cover to explain what it is. I tried to write a long, third-person summary that would imply how great the book is and also sound vaguely authoritative—like maybe someone who isn’t me wrote it—but I soon discovered that I’m not sneaky enough to pull it off convincingly. So I decided to just make a list of things that are in the book: Pictures Words Stories about things that happened to me Stories about things that happened to other people because of me Eight billion dollars* Stories about dogs The secret to eternal happiness* *These are lies. Perhaps I have underestimated my sneakiness!

Book Fighting Identity

Download or read book Fighting Identity written by Amit Singh and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2022-10-21 with total page 159 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is an immersive ethnographic account of how fighters at a Polish-owned Muay Thai/kickboxing gym in East London seek to reject prior identity markers in favour of constructing one another as the same, as fighters, a category supposedly free from the negative assumptions and limitations associated with prior ascriptions such as race, class, gender and sexuality. It explores questions of subjectivity and identity by examining how and why fighters sought to disavow identity, which involved casting aside pre-established ways of thinking, feeling and acting about constructed differences to forge deep bonds of carnal convivial friendships. Yet, this book argues that becoming a fighter is highly socially contingent and remains subject to rupture due to the durability of taken-for-granted thinking about race, gender and sexuality, which, if drawn upon, could pull people out of the category of fighter and back into longer-standing durable categories. This book deploys Butler's theory of performativity and Bourdieu's conceptualisation of habitus to explore the context-specific ways people transgress identity whilst remaining attentive to the constrained nature of agency. The book is intended for undergraduate and master's students on courses looking at race, racism, gender, social anthropology, sociology and sociology of sport.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Civil War’s Atlanta campaign rages on following A Long and Bloody Task: “More than informative . . . challenges simplistic caricatures of Hood and Sherman” (The Civil War Monitor). John Bell Hood brought a hang-dog look and a hard-fighting spirit to the Army of Tennessee. Once one of the ablest division commanders in the Army of Northern Virginia, he found himself, by the spring of 1864, in the war’s Western Theater. Recently recovered from grievous wounds sustained at Chickamauga, he suddenly found himself thrust into command of the Confederacy’s ill-starred army even as Federals pounded on the door of the Deep South’s greatest untouched city, Atlanta. His predecessor, Gen. Joseph E. Johnston, had failed to stop the advance of armies under Federal commander William T. Sherman, who had pushed and maneuvered his way from Chattanooga, Tennessee, right to Atlanta’s very doorstep. Johnston had been able to do little to stop him. The crisis could not have been more acute. Hood, an aggressive risk-taker, threw his men into the fray with unprecedented vigor. Sherman welcomed it. “We’ll give them all the fighting they want,” Sherman said. He proved a man of his word. In All the Fighting They Want, Georgia native Steve Davis, the world’s foremost authority on the Atlanta campaign, tells the tale of the last great struggle for the city. His Southern sensibility and his knowledge of the battle, accumulated over a lifetime of living on the ground, make this an indispensable addition to the acclaimed Emerging Civil War Series. “Military historian Steve Davis vividly presents the last great struggle for the city.” —Midwest Book Review
