Book A Female King s Love Story

Download or read book A Female King s Love Story written by Mo XiaoYi and published by Funstory. This book was released on 2020-05-19 with total page 878 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Once transmigrated, the woman would become the ruler and the man would become the concubine. The beautiful man repeatedly cried out His Majesty's blessings, scaring a certain woman to the point that her face turned pale. Grass bag? Puppet? Unrestrained and unbridled? The martial arts world? The imperial government? A battle for the harem? The woman smiled. It seemed like this empress was much more exciting than a godly thief! There were thousands of beautiful men in the harem, and even if they were to linger amongst the flowers, it was still a good show. There were thousands of weak waters, and only one ladle of wine was taken, but this ladle seemed to be ruthless. Black lines appeared on the face of a certain man: "Madam, this is all just a ladle!" Book Kings Queens and Concubines True Stories of Love Lust and Passion

Download or read book Kings Queens and Concubines True Stories of Love Lust and Passion written by Maria Arnodt Wilson and published by The Rainbows. This book was released on 2023-01-31 with total page 43 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Everyone is interested in knowing about the lifestyle of ancient kings. Especially with their harem. Harem is an Arabic word meaning enclosure, inner palace, forbidden or sacred place. A harem is a sacred place reserved for women to which no man other than a king or prince is allowed to enter. The harem housed the wives, concubines, minor sons, unmarried daughters, female relatives and concubines of the king, sultan or emperor. Besides, there were hundreds, thousands of young women in the harem to entertain the king or the princes. The more aristocratic, powerful and wealthy the king, the more women he had in his harem. It is Lord Acton who says: "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men." Is it that power yields desire, the desire to tame, the desire to win? In history it is true not only for kings but queens also. The kings had concubines and harems of thousand prized girls. So also, the queens did not fall behind in building harems or having their desire fulfilled with hundreds of men. Egyptian beauty queen Cleopatra, Queen Enzinga of Angola, Queen Catherine of Russia, Princess Diana are very effective counterparts of their fellow kings. However they are also revered in history. They seem to be very effectively able to manage their public and private lives. Cleopatra had her desire fulfilled with several Roman generals. It is said that she had satisfied more than a hundred romans in a single night. Queen Enzinga had her own Arabian nights, killing the male after the mating. Queen Catherine is said to be dead in her attempt to have a relationship with a horse. The lusty life of princess Diana is an example to itself in the modern world. This book tries to have a glance into the secret private lives of kings, queens and concubines.

Book excerpt: Historically, many royal marriages have represented the unions of dynasties, with true engagements of the heart notable for their rarity. Yet royal couples could fall in love, and this book is full of surprises, from the undying love that the last Tsar of Russia, Nicholas II, felt for his Tsarina, to the unlikely love that flourished between Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. He loved her so much that he raised her brother from the dead. In his glory - she was transformed.*******AMAZON REVIEW BY JAKE*******: A Royal Love-story."This is the tenderest, sweetest, most beautiful love-story I've ever read. To those who would implore: "But it's not biblical!" I would reply simply: "It doesn't pretend to be." Read it with an open mind and remember that one of the great mysteries is that our Lord was as fully human as He was fully God. This deeply touching love-story of our Lord and the woman He chose to be His bride will make you weep - it did me".

Book Love and Louis XIV

Download or read book Love and Louis XIV written by Antonia Fraser and published by Anchor Canada. This book was released on 2010-06-25 with total page 466 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The superb historian and biographer Antonia Fraser, author of Marie Antoinette, casts new light on the splendor and the scandals of the reign of Louis XIV in this dramatic, illuminating look at the women in his life. The self-proclaimed Sun King, Louis XIV ruled over the most glorious and extravagant court in seventeenth-century Europe. Now, Antonia Fraser goes behind the well-known tales of Louis’s accomplishments and follies, exploring in riveting detail his intimate relationships with women. The king’s mother, Anne of Austria, had been in a childless marriage for twenty-two years before she gave birth to Louis XIV. A devout Catholic, she instilled in her son a strong sense of piety and fought successfully for his right to absolute power. In 1660, Louis married his first cousin, Marie-Thérèse, in a political arrangement. While unfailingly kind to the official Queen of Versailles, Louis sought others to satisfy his romantic and sexual desires. After a flirtation with his sister-in-law, his first important mistress was Louise de La Vallière, who bore him several children before being replaced by the tempestuous and brilliant Athénaïs, marquise de Montespan. Later, when Athénaïs’s reputation was tarnished, the King continued to support her publicly as Athénaïs left court for a life of repentance. Meanwhile her children’s governess, the intelligent and seemingly puritanical Françoise de Maintenon, had already won the King’s affections; in a relationship in complete contrast to his physical obsession with Athénaïs, Louis XIV lived happily with Madame de Maintenon for the rest of his life, very probably marrying her in secret. When his grandson’s child bride, the enchanting Adelaide of Savoy, came to Versaille she lightened the King’s last years – until tragedy struck. With consummate skill, Antonia Fraser weaves insights into the nature of women’s religious lives – as well as such practical matters as contraception – into her magnificent, sweeping portrait of the king, his court, and his ladies.

Book The Woman Who Would Be King

Download or read book The Woman Who Would Be King written by Kara Cooney and published by Crown. This book was released on 2014-10-14 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An engrossing biography of the longest-reigning female pharaoh in Ancient Egypt and the story of her audacious rise to power. Hatshepsut—the daughter of a general who usurped Egypt's throne—was expected to bear the sons who would legitimize the reign of her father’s family. Her failure to produce a male heir, however, paved the way for her improbable rule as a cross-dressing king. At just over twenty, Hatshepsut out-maneuvered the mother of Thutmose III, the infant king, for a seat on the throne, and ascended to the rank of pharaoh. Shrewdly operating the levers of power to emerge as Egypt's second female pharaoh, Hatshepsut was a master strategist, cloaking her political power plays in the veil of piety and sexual reinvention. She successfully negotiated a path from the royal nursery to the very pinnacle of authority, and her reign saw one of Ancient Egypt’s most prolific building periods. Constructing a rich narrative history using the artifacts that remain, noted Egyptologist Kara Cooney offers a remarkable interpretation of how Hatshepsut rapidly but methodically consolidated power—and why she fell from public favor just as quickly. The Woman Who Would Be King traces the unconventional life of an almost-forgotten pharaoh and explores our complicated reactions to women in power.

Book Love Letters of Kings and Queens

Download or read book Love Letters of Kings and Queens written by Daniel Smith and published by Greenfinch. This book was released on 2021-02-04 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tender, moving, heartfelt and warm (and sporadically scandalous and outrageous too), these are the private messages between people in love. Yet they are also correspondence between the rulers of nations. From Henry VIII's lovelorn notes to Anne Boleyn and George IV's impassioned notes to his secret wife, to Queen Victoria's tender letters to Prince Albert and Edward VIII's extraordinary correspondence with Wallis Simpson - these letters depict romantic love from its budding passion to the comfort and understanding of a long union (and occasionally beyond to resentment and recrimination), all set against the background of great affairs of state, wars and the strictures of royal duty. Here is a chance to glimpse behind the pomp and ceremony, the carefully curated images of royal splendour and decorum, to see the passions, hopes, jealousies and loneliness of kings and queens throughout history. By turns tender, moving, heartfelt and warm (and sporadically scandalous and outrageous too), these are the private messages between people in love. Yet they are also correspondence between the rulers of nations, whose actions (and passions) changed the course of history, for good and bad. This morning I received your dear, dear letter of the 21st. How happy do you make me with your love! Oh! my Angel Albert, I am quite enchanted with it! I do not deserve such love! Never, never did I think I could be loved so much. Queen Victoria to Prince Albert (28 November 1839)

Book Martin Luther King Jr and the Theology of Resistance

Download or read book Martin Luther King Jr and the Theology of Resistance written by Rufus Burrow, Jr. and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2014-12-08 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It has been nearly fifty years since Martin Luther King, Jr., was assassinated at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee. Appraisals of King's contributions began almost immediately and continue to this day. The author explores a great many of King's chief ideas and socio-ethical practices: his concept of a moral universe, his doctrine of human dignity, his belief that not all suffering is redemptive, his brand of personalism, his contribution to the development of social ethics, the inclusion of young people in the movement, sexism as a contradiction to his personalism, the problem of black-on-black violence, and others. The book reveals both the strengths and the limitations in King's theological socio-ethical project, and shows him to have relentlessly applied personalist ideas to organized nonviolent resistance campaigns in order to change the world. Book Love and Death of King Ananda Mahidol of Thailand

Download or read book Love and Death of King Ananda Mahidol of Thailand written by Pavin Chachavalpongpun and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-12-01 with total page 203 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines two aspects of the abbreviated reign of King Ananda Mahidol (1935-1946), or King Rama VIII, of the current Chakri dynasty of Thailand. First, it discusses the royal family’s plot to thwart a romantic relationship between the young king, Ananda, and his Swiss girlfriend, Marileine Ferrari, a daughter of a famous pastor of Lausanne, Switzerland. Interracial marriage, particularly with Westerners, has been strictly forbidden for Thai kings or heirs apparent. The restriction stems from the interwoven connection between sexual relationship and the security of the throne. The second part investigates the mysterious death of King Ananda, a long-held taboo topic in Thailand. Although the two events were not specially related, both in their own way served to unavoidably shake the position of the monarchy and hence threaten its existence. The palace’s reactions to these events demonstrated its continuous search to maintain its power and ultimately to warrant its survival.

Book Portrait of the Kings

  • Author : Alison L. Joseph
  • Publisher : Fortress Press
  • Release : 2015-03-01
  • ISBN : 1451469586
  • Pages : 286 pages

Download or read book Portrait of the Kings written by Alison L. Joseph and published by Fortress Press. This book was released on 2015-03-01 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Much of the scholarship on the book of Kings has focused on questions of the historicity of the events described. Alison L. Joseph turns her attention instead to the literary characterization of Israel’s kings. By examining the narrative techniques used in the Deuteronomistic History to portray Israel’s kings, Joseph shows that the Deuteronomist in the days of the Josianic Reform constructed David as a model of adherence to the covenant, and Jeroboam, conversely, as the ideal opposite of David. The redactor further characterized other kings along one or the other of these two models. The resulting narrative functions didactically, as if instructing kings and the people of Judah regarding the consequences of disobedience. Attention to characterization through prototype also allows Joseph to identify differences between pre-exilic and exilic redactions in the Deuteronomistic History, bolstering and also revising the view advanced by Frank Moore Cross. The result is a deepened understanding of the worldview and theology of the Deuteronomistic historians.
