Mainly used as a vacation getaway, the house she had christened Skye Keep was not occupied in recent years and she thought would be an ideal domicile for Lux, as well as an opportunity to reclaim his disenfranchised life. With some reservation, Lux accepts the invitation to see the house. Eventually, he accepts Ailis' proposal and becomes the caretaker of the mansion she calls "Skye Keep." In the ensuing weeks, Lux senses there may be more to Ailis' generous offer other than being the caretaker of the house. Hence, their friendship has subtly changed to something akin to a flirtatious affair even though she is allegedly a happily married woman. Lux meets several Georgetown residents. Most of these people are Ailis' friends, except Kat, who owns a high-end merchandise business in Georgetown. Seductive, attractive, and beguiling, she has fallen for Lux in a romantic way, and he feels the same way about her, except he's also in love with a married woman secretly thinks feels the same way about him. Both women are also some ten years older than Lux who is in his mid-thirties. His new life begun, including the intrigue of two appealing women in his life, Lux settles into a new lifestyle. Frought with romance, the strangeness of the house that he discovers is haunted by a ghost, and the drama of smalltown politics, Lux's new life in the Rockies is far different when he lived in Paris. This human interest story also entails the history of Georgetown, Victorian architecture, Western and Eastern philosophy, and, of course, a captivating cat who decides Lux is the perfect cat care person for her needs. Before the end of his stay in the quaint hamlet, his life will dramatically unfold, and he will an emotional price for the emotional entanglement he's in, including the tragic loss of two of the principals in the story, including bidding farewell to the ladies who also had to move on with their lives.
