Book Papadaddy s Book for New Fathers

Download or read book Papadaddy s Book for New Fathers written by Clyde Edgerton and published by Hachette UK. This book was released on 2013-05-07 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After three decades of being a father, Clyde Edgerton-with four kids ranging in age from six to 30-is supremely qualified to give tips to dads of all ages. His fathering advice, pre-birth through schooling, involves plenty of his trademark humor, but also sound guidance enhanced by his training and experience as an educator. Papa Edgerton suggests that on occasion a father might forego reading and just point to the pictures of dogs and cats in baby books, and also that he might place a blanket on the lawn, lie on his back with the whole family, and watch Sky Television. Edgerton's humorous and helpful counsel will guide new parents on interacting with in-laws and coping with sleep deprivation, while also providing strategies for recovery after you've cursed in front of a mimicking baby. "If you don't feel apprehensive just before your first child is to arrive, you are abnormal," writes Edgerton. Yet by way of his experience, observation, and imagination, he provides caution and pure joy in equal measure. "Edgerton is so, so funny. He captures the rainbows, cheap thrills, and irritating potholes of parenting with splendid understatement."-Library Journal

Book Forty Ways to Look at Winston Churchill

Download or read book Forty Ways to Look at Winston Churchill written by Gretchen Rubin and published by Random House Trade Paperbacks. This book was released on 2004-05-11 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A WALL STREET JOURNAL SUMMER PICK A WASHINGTON POST BESTSELLER Warrior and writer, genius and crank, rider in the British cavalry’s last great charge and inventor of the tank, Winston Churchill led Britain to fight alone against Nazi Germany in the fateful year of 1940 and set the standard for leading a democracy at war. With penetrating insight and vivid anecdotes, Gretchen Rubin makes Churchill accessible and meaningful to twenty-first-century readers by analyzing the many contrasting views of the man: he was an alcoholic, he was not; he was an anachronism, he was a visionary; he was a racist, he was a humanitarian; he was the most quotable man in the history of the English language, he was a bore. Like no other portrait of its famous subject, Forty Ways to Look at Winston Churchill is a dazzling display of facts more improbable than fiction. It brings to full realization the depiction of a man too fabulous for any novelist to construct, too complex for even the longest narrative to describe, and too significant ever to be forgotten.

Download or read book A Father s Advice written by Terry King and published by . This book was released on 2019-05-21 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a book of practical advice for young adults, who are about to leave home, or will, in a few years. They are, almost certainly, going to encounter situations that they haven't had experience with before, when they leave home. This book contains short bits of advice, for those situations. As parents, we can't always be around, at that point. This book can. Author's Note: I asked three or four people, parents all, to look at various portions of this book, before it was published, and to give me their opinions of it. They all thought that the advice in it was good. One test reader gave me her opinion about marriage, and I included it in that section. Given that she has been married to the same man for 55 years; I thought that what she said was worth including. I stated, in the book, next to that advice, that it was her advice, but I felt that it was well worth listening to. As of 24 August 2019, I have sold twelve author's copies to various people. I have talked to most of them, after they have read the book, and they thought that this was a good book, with good advice in it. As an author, I want this book to do well. This is my first book. As a parent, if I had gotten general feedback that the advice in this book was garbage, I absolutely WOULD withdraw this book from publication. I refuse to deliberately give young adults bad advice. They get more than enough of that, already.

Book Raising Men

Download or read book Raising Men written by Eric Davis and published by St. Martin's Press. This book was released on 2016-05-03 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After Eric Davis spent over 16 years in the military, including a decade in the SEAL Teams, his family was more than used to his absence on deployments and secret missions that could obscure his whereabouts for months at a time. Without a father figure in his own life since the age of fifteen, Eric was desperate to maintain the bonds he’d fought so hard to forge when his children were young—particularly with his son, Jason, because he knew how difficult it was to face the challenge of becoming a man on one’s own. Unfortunately, Eric learned the hard way that Quality Time doesn’t always show up in Quantity Time. Facebook, television, phones, video games, school, jobs, friends—they all got in the way of a real, meaningful father-son relationship. It was time to take action. As a SEAL, Eric learned to innovate and push boundaries, allowing him to function at levels beyond what was expected, comfortable, ordinary, and even imaginable, and he knew that as a father he needed to do the same with his son. Meeting extreme with extreme was the only answer. Using a unique blend of discipline, leadership, adventure, and grace, Eric and his SEAL brothers will teach you how to connect, and reconnect, with your sons and learn how to raise real men—the Navy SEAL way.
