As they and the rest of their community, hiding in the jungle, attempt to survive the increasingly barbaric attacks by government soldiers, their fates are inextricably linked to those of Western NGO workers and lovers, Etaine and Tuvol. Download or read book Life After Near Death written by Debra Diamond and published by Red Wheel/Weiser. This book was released on 2016-01-25 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Life After Near Death is the only book to explore the deeper meaning of the near-death experience (NDE) through the prism of its miraculous aftereffects. You don’t need to be declared clinically dead to experience an NDE. Nor must you experience many of Raymond Moody’s nine elements, including a life review, an out-of-body experience, encounters with deceased loved ones, and a decision to return to one’s body. The key is whether you return from the experience permanently transformed. Life After Near Death profiles a dozen cases of specific cognitive and physiological near-death aftereffects, including newfound musical and artistic talents, mathematical gifts, enhanced hearing, elevated IQ, improved eyesight, spontaneous healing, and electrical sensitivity. It explores new evidence to shed light on this phenomenon and reveals for the first time: The link between predisposition and the NDE. The role of manifestation and intent in the creation of the NDE. The unmistakable connections among the energetic world, frequency, and the NDE. The circumstances and conditions that give rise to a NDE. Life After Near Death offers a new, science-based paradigm to unravel the NDE and our assumptions regarding the afterlife. Although you can return from an NDE, you will never return to your former life.
Download or read book Death Education in the Writing Classroom written by Jeffrey Berman and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-03-02 with total page 382 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Death is often encountered in English courses—Hamlet’s death, celebrity death, death from the terrorist attacks on 9/11—but students rarely have the opportunity to write about their own experiences with death. In Death Education in the Writing Classroom, Jeffrey Berman shows how college students can write safely about dying, death, and bereavement. The book is based on an undergraduate course on love and loss that Berman taught at the University at Albany in 2008. Part 1, “Diaries,” is organized around Berman’s diary entries written immediately after each class. These entries provide a week-by-week glimpse of class discussions, highlighting his students’ writings and their developing bonds with classmates and teacher. Part 2, "Breakthroughs," focuses on several students’ important educational and psychological discoveries in their understanding of love and loss. The student writings touch on many aspects of death education, including disenfranchised grief. The book explores how students write about not only mourning and loss but also depression, cutting, and abortion—topics that occupy the ambiguous border of death-in-life. Death Education in the Writing Classroom is the first book to demonstrate how love and loss can be taught in a college writing class—and the first to describe the week-by-week changes in students’ cognitive and affective responses to death. This interdisciplinary book will be of interest to writing teachers, students, clinicians, and bereavement counselors.
