Book Peace Pedagogies in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Download or read book Peace Pedagogies in Bosnia and Herzegovina written by Larisa Kasumagić-Kafedžić and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023 with total page 349 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection presents interdisciplinary perspectives on educating for peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It explores a range of theories, contexts, pedagogies and practices within formal education settings and draws attention to the multiple roles that teachers play in fostering socially transformative learning. The volume offers readers a critical exploration of peace pedagogy as an imagined ideal and fluid space between post-war educational politics, institutional and curricular constraints, and the lived experiences and identities of teachers and students in socially and historically situated communities. The book highlights local voices, initiatives and practices by illustrating good examples of how classrooms are being connected to communities, teacher education programs and teachers continued professional development. It demonstrates why and how the grammars of peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina are still in a state of flux and negotiation, and what the implications are for classroom practice and pedagogy. Recommendations are offered for policymakers, curriculum developers, teacher educators and teachers on how peace pedagogies can be promoted at all levels of the education system and through pre-service and in-service teacher education, taking into account the structural uniqueness of the country. .

Book Teacher Education and Training in the Western Balkans

Download or read book Teacher Education and Training in the Western Balkans written by Helene Skikos and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 45 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Western Balkans Platform on Education and Training was launched on 7 March 2012. It is the latest EU initiative for enhanced policy dialogue and regional cooperation in the Western Balkans. Its objectives are to help to prepare better our partners in this region for their eventual participation in the EU's policy cooperation framework, the Open Method of Coordination, to enhance their participation in EU programmes and to assist their reform efforts in the area of education and training. The Platform is also an opportunity for discussing issues of common interest among the participants, of sharing good practice and for identifying priorities and needs for further support. One of the highest priorities identified by the Ministries of Education last year was the training of teachers, and EU support was requested on this topic. In response to this, the EU commissioned a study to map the situation of how teachers are educated and trained in that part of Europe, as comprehensive information on the subject is scarce. The objectives of this study were to look at the key policies, programmes, qualifications systems, quality assurance mechanisms, induction and mentoring programmes, continuing professional development and other aspects of teacher education and training in each country, but also to compare them across the region. The results of this study are provided in individual country reports and a synthesis report comparing the strengths, weaknesses and good practices in the region.

Only a very few papers could be included for this collection, but they rep- sent some of the key topics under discussion during the Congress. The papers were selected from the recommendations of the convenors of the 13 Thematic Groups, the keynote addresses and several symposia.

Book The E Learning in Bosnia and Herzegovina Classrooms

Download or read book The E Learning in Bosnia and Herzegovina Classrooms written by Dzenana Rustempasic and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Electronic (E)-learning is a type of learning by using electronic technologies to access an educational program outside traditional classrooms increasingly demanded by many education systems. As conventional classrooms continue to be transformed into digital, teachers are expected to adopt multiple learning modes. Digitally enriched content and personalized learning should be the primary way of teaching and collaborative and interactive learning. Contrary to the continuous development of technology and students who regularly encounter computers from an early age, teachers do not have the privilege to introduce technology into the classroom successfully. The paper presents how the lack of funds influences a teacher,Äôs readiness to embrace technology into their teaching practice. The paper explores E-learning issues related to virtual environment reality and artificial intelligence that is increasingly entering the classrooms of developed countries and ,Äòwhat application of artificial intelligence means for the development and broader implementation of E-learning in virtual classrooms in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The primary method of collecting data was through an open question survey distributed to students in different parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina. For research purposes, schools were chosen based on how often their students have access to computers or the Internet. Four schools from urban and four schools from rural areas were chosen, and questionaries,Äô were delivered directly to students by the researcher. The research aims to examine students,Äô views on the benefits online education has in the educational process in Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The survey provides an analysis of the potentials for implementation of the e-learning model in secondary schools in Sarajevo Canton and the rest of the country. The paper presents the advantages and opportunities that contribute to the improvement of e-learning in educational institutions and the benefits for students and other involved parties in the educational process, such as teachers and parents. Students enrolled in this research have a highly positive attitude towards e-learning, which leads to the conclusion that students are willing to learn using I.T. solutions in the classroom.

Book The Palgrave Handbook of Teacher Education in Central and Eastern Europe

Download or read book The Palgrave Handbook of Teacher Education in Central and Eastern Europe written by Marta Kowalczuk-Walędziak and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-11-24 with total page 581 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This handbook provides a comprehensive, scholarly overview of teacher education in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), since the fall of communism in 1989. It looks closely at recent trends, emerging practices, and possible futures for teacher education in twenty-one CEE countries – reaching from the Balkans, through the Visegrad Group, to Eastern Europe and the Baltics. The contributing authors reflect on their own countries’ uphill battles and journeys towards modernising teacher education over the last three decades. Subsequently, contemporary teacher education policies, structures, and practices are explored in light of Bologna reforms, EU higher education policies, and globalisation processes. Each chapter also offers some predictions about likely future trajectories – with concrete suggestions on how to develop and improve teacher education systems in response to the growing pressures of neoliberal ideologies. The Palgrave Handbook of Teacher Education in Central and Eastern Europe provides a valuable reference that enriches the work of scholars, students, policymakers, and practitioners across CEE and beyond.

Book The Status of English in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Download or read book The Status of English in Bosnia and Herzegovina written by Louisa Buckingham and published by Multilingual Matters. This book was released on 2016-07-18 with total page 323 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When Yugoslavia disintegrated in the early 1990s, competence in English was not widespread. This book explores how English came to be equated with economic survival for many during and after the ensuing war through a range of diverse social and professional contexts, from the classroom to the military to the International Criminal Court. While English provided social mobility for many, its abrupt arrival also contributed to the marginalization of those without the adequate language skills. The high level of international intervention in Bosnia and Herzegovina over the last two decades has contributed to a sense of normalization of the presence of English. Viewed as a far more complex issue than simple linguistic imposition, this book explores the widespread adoption of English and its effects on a nation recovering from war.
