Book excerpt: Falling for a woman with kids was never part of Jordan Tanner's plans. His intention was to quickly sell the building he's inherited and pave the way to financial freedom. Yet the moment he encounters Nell Hart--and her niece and nephew--all his goals fly out the window. Something about her zest and her passion leave him a little breathless. More than that, Jordan discovers he simply cannot put two traumatized kids out on the street. So what's he to do? He still wants success and he's not keen on being a landlord. But he also likes the feeling he gets when he's with Nell and the kids. In the end, maybe there isn't a choice after all.

Book The Intentional Father

Download or read book The Intentional Father written by Jon Tyson and published by Baker Books. This book was released on 2021-08-17 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Self-initiation is killing our young men. Without strong mentors, boys are walking alone into a wilderness of conflicting messages about who they should be as men. It's no wonder that our sons are confused about what the world expects from them and what they should expect of themselves. The Intentional Father is the antidote. This concise book is filled with practical steps to help men raise sons of consequence--young men who know what they believe, know who they are, and will stand up against the negative cultural trends of our day. Jon Tyson lays out a clear path for fathers and sons that includes specific activities, rites of passage, and significant "marking moments" that can be customized to fit any family. It's not enough to hope our sons will become good men. We need them to be good at being men. This book shows how fathers, grandfathers, and other male mentors can lead the way.

Book excerpt: From the author of the New York Times bestseller Before the Fall, an intense, psychological novel about one doctor's suspense-filled quest to unlock the mind of a suspected political assassin: his twenty-year old son. As a rheumatologist, Dr. Paul Allen's specialty is diagnosing patients other doctors have given up on. His son, Daniel Allen has always been a good kid but, as a child of divorce, he is also something of a drifter. Which may be why, at the age of nineteen, he quietly drops out of Vassar and begins an aimless journey across the United States, shedding his former skin and eventually even changing his name. One night, Paul is home with his family when a televised news report announces that the Democratic candidate for president has been shot, and Daniel is the lead suspect. Convinced of his son’s innocence Paul begins to trace his sons steps to see where Daniel, or perhaps Paul, went wrong, beginning a harrowing journey--about the responsibilities of being a parent and the capacity for unconditional love in the face of an unthinkable situation—that keeps one guessing until the very end.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What does loving deliberately mean to you? It may take a lot of thinking, soul-searching, and introspection to develop your own answer to this question—and even then, it could be difficult to spell out your thoughts into words. Loving Deliberately is a collection of what scores of individuals—some famous some not—have written on the subject. The responses vary widely but each has an importance all of its own. First in Traveling Deliberately, then in Aging Deliberately, and now in Loving Deliberately, Steve Bannow has completed his task of helping us truly understand the importance of being thoughtful, in the moment, and living life well—deliberately. Loving deliberately must be discovered over time and in stages. Getting there requires a true desire to do so. It requires experience, learning, and growth. Steve’s wish is that all who read this book will come away with a greater sense of who they are, what is most important to them, and why.

Book The Art of Living Deliberately

Download or read book The Art of Living Deliberately written by Sky Stevens and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2017-02-03 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Art of Living Deliberately is a transformational book that exposes the conscious and subconscious belief building process. It reveals how we promise ourselves, in childhood, who we should be and what we deserve in life and how we restrict our lives to stay true to those old promises, ultimately repeating the same patterns and attracting the same things over and over. It explores how these old promises build our sense of self forming the foundation of our reasoning and ultimately determining the level of concern we offer ourselves and the world around us. The Art of Living Deliberately offers valuable tools to help us get off 'auto-pilot' (letting those old beliefs steer us) and on to living a richer, fuller, more deliberate life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a story about a young boy from Africa who had potential in the film industry. His chances of showing his talent were suppressed by someone who was nominated to assist a youth like Denzel with unique talent that might be grown in that field. When luck ran out and things did not go as expected, he did not feel sorry for himself. He challenged life from a different angle, as he was from the racist country; he joined the struggle to fight the oppression. He left the country and went underground to obtain military training. He risked his life and went back to his country for a mission operation. Regrettably he was arrested before he could accomplish his mission through being betrayed by his fellow comrade who was caught before him. Through all the torture that he underwent in the hands of the South African special branch police department, he never revealed any information about his mission and background. He was found guilty and sentenced to thirty years in prison on information obtained from his comrade. He was released from prison after sixteen years on blanket amnesty negotiation between ANC and the apartheid government. His struggle continued even after the democracy in South Africa, because most black people were still in bondage. He did something extraordinary in suing the state without a legal representation and shook the whole justice system.
