Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Addiction is a very real problem and has touched the lives of far too many families in one way or another. So many people and their families suffer through all of the fallout that this problem delivers to their doorsteps. Issues with pain, anger, hurt, bitterness, rejection, and the feeling of worthlessness are at the core of this issue. Families continually struggle to cope, support, and help their loved ones suffering with addiction. Many times, the legal system and programs fail to foster any long-lasting solutions. Real recovery generally feels so impossible. Hopes feel temporal, as momentary success only leads to rebounding, repeated, familiar failures. Families raise their hands in futile desperation. The void runs so deep within this population of people scrambling to find peace and hope. And unfortunately, they habitually search for their answers and explanations in all the wrong places. However . . . What if, there truly was real help out there? What if there really was a real solution? What if there was a place that gave a direction and guidance that would be long-lasting? What if true harmony could be found? What if a loved one's life could be saved . . . before it's too late? In BC: 60 Minutes from Hell, the struggle of one man is shared. His pains, his struggle for sobriety and the fallout upon those who shared the journey with him. In AD: To God Be the Glory, the story continues. Can answers be found? Can families be healed? Can there really be something that fills the void? If drugs and alcohol are not the answer, what is? Faith, properly directed, can fill the void! Hope is there for the taking. Healing can be had. Love can be restored.

Book excerpt: I believe that Jesus set an example for us on how to handle adverse situations. When approached in the wilderness by Satan, each time when responding, Jesus began his sentence with "It is written" and quoted Scripture. Modeling myself after Him, I began quoting Scripture when I found myself in adverse situations. I applied Scripture when faced with health concerns for myself, for my son, when reminded of my past, and many other situations. No matter what your situation looks like, we have to learn to say what God says about us. After all, we do have the power of life or death in our tongue (Proverbs 18:21). By our words we can triumph over the enemy. Get in God's Word! The Word of God is our weapon! My prayer is that sharing my testimony will awaken the Spirit within you, increasing your desire to dig deeper into Scripture and develop a closer relationship with God.

Book Game Day for the Glory of God

Download or read book Game Day for the Glory of God written by Stephen Altrogge and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2008-08-21 with total page 123 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book gives biblical guidance on playing, watching, and discussing sports in a God-glorifying manner, helping believers grow in both their love for God and their passion for holiness. Scripture calls Christians to do everything for the glory of God. That means every thought, every word, and every deed are to be done in a way that brings pleasure and honor to him. Believe it or not, this includes playing, watching, and talking sports! But most of us fail to recognize how sports fit into the big picture of a God-glorifying life, unable to imagine that the God who created the universe might actually care about Little League games and Monday Night Football. So how do we play, watch, and talk sports for God's glory? Game Day for the Glory of God seeks to answer that question from a biblical perspective. Sports fan Stephen Altrogge aims to help readers enjoy sports as a gift from God and to see sports as a means of growing in godliness.

Book Business for the Glory of God

Download or read book Business for the Glory of God written by Wayne Grudem and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2003-11-06 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Can business activity in itself be morally good and pleasing to God? Sometimes business can seem so shady-manipulating the "bottom line," deceiving the consumer, or gaining promotions because of whom you know. But Wayne Grudem introduces a novel concept: business itself glorifies God when it is conducted in a way that imitates God's character and creation. He shows that all aspects of business, including ownership, profit, money, competition, and borrowing and lending, glorify God because they are reflective of God's nature. Though Grudem isn't naïve about the easy ways these activities can be perverted and used as a means to sin, he knows that Christians can be about the business of business. This biblically based book is a thoughtful guide to imitating God during interactions with customers, coworkers, employees, and other businesses. See how your business, and your life in business, can be dedicated to God's glory.

John Piper's contemporary classic draws on key biblical texts to demonstrate that worship is the ultimate goal of the church and that proper worship fuels missionary outreach. Piper offers a biblical defence of God's supremacy in all things, providing a sound theological foundation for missions. He examines whether Jesus is the only way to salvation and issues a passionate plea for God-centredness in the missionary enterprise, seeking to define the scope of the task and the means for reaching 'all nations'. Let the Nations Be Glad! is a trusted resource for missionaries, pastors, church leaders, youth workers, seminary students, and all who want to connect their labours to God's global purposes. This third edition has been revised and expanded throughout and includes new material on the 'prosperity gospel'.

Book Glory to God in the Lowest

Download or read book Glory to God in the Lowest written by Donald E. Wagner and published by Interlink Books. This book was released on 2022-06-28 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A personal, political, and religious journey from Evangelical Christian faith and conservative politics to solidarity with the poor and advocacy for anti-war, anti-racism, and Palestinian rights After serving for five years as a pastor in a remarkable Black church, Donald Wagner comes to fully understand the original sin of racism. As his journey continues, he encounters another marginalized people—the Palestinians—and witnesses their struggle for justice and equality. Touched by their resilience and fight against injustice, he leaves the pastorate to assume full time work as an advocate for Palestinian political and human rights. The memoir begins in mid-September 1982, with a gut-wrenching day interviewing survivors of the Sabra-Shatila massacre in Lebanon, as they wept and waited for the bodies of family members to be pulled from the rubble. Donald Wagner’s conversation with the local Imam ended with a challenge: “You must return home and tell what you have seen. This is all we ask. Go back and tell the truth.” Glory to God in the Lowest is a metaphor for his counter intuitive journey with the victims of the “chosen people” in the “unholy land,” also called historic Palestine or Israel. The irony of the journey reminds us that God is everywhere especially with the disinherited, the victims of the powerful, including the victims of Israeli oppression. The memoir touches on history and includes political analysis and theological reflection. In it, Donald Wagner describes Israel’s continued colonization and destruction of Palestinian lives and chronicles his involvement in a grassroots movement of resistance that demands justice based on full equality, an end to the Israeli military occupation and settler colonization project, the right of return for Palestinian refugees, and full political rights for the Palestinian people. Filled with stories—some humorous and some shocking—as well as encounters with people of every race, gender, and religious affiliation working below the radar, this book will inspire, challenge, and offer a narrative that envisions a transformed “unholy land,” where justice, liberation, and equality for all is the reality for every citizen.

Book A Sudden Glory

    Book Details:
  • Author : Sharon Jaynes
  • Publisher : Multnomah
  • Release : 2012-08-21
  • ISBN : 1601424086
  • Pages : 242 pages

Download or read book A Sudden Glory written by Sharon Jaynes and published by Multnomah. This book was released on 2012-08-21 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Do you long for something more in your relationship with God? The good news is that “something more” does not mean “doing more.” God is not waiting for you to get your spiritual life “right.” He wants to be with you right where you are. The real question is not “What does God want from you?” but “What does God want for you?” Sharon Jaynes understands what it’s like to have a “glory ache”—a longing to experience God’s presence on a daily basis. She also knows how easily working for God can get in the way of intimacy with God. And she’s discovered that we tend to make our faith journey much too hard. In A Sudden Glory, Sharon uses Scripture and story to help you erase the line between your “spiritual life” and your “daily life” as you enter the sanctuary of God’s presence even in the middle of your busy, messy day. Here you will find your eyes opened to moments of sudden glory in which the Creator assures you of His love as you live and move and have your being in Him. Here you will discover true freedom—the freedom of experiencing God in a deeper and more intimate way than ever before. Includes Bible study and discussion guide.
