Book A Computer Program for the Analysis of Deep Beams

Download or read book A Computer Program for the Analysis of Deep Beams written by Grover L. Rogers and published by . This book was released on 1964 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A computer program for the analysis of laterally loaded deep beams is presented in Fortran language. The theoretical basis for the program is the finite difference representation of the relevant equations of equilibrium expressed in terms of the Airy stress function. The program is illustrated by a numerical example where results are compared with previously determined experimental solutions. The effects of mesh size and shape are considered, as is the effect of distributing a concentrated load over a small, but finite, length of the beam.

Book excerpt: The contents of this book have been chosen with the following main aims: to review the present coverage of the major design codes and the CIRIA guide, and to explain the fundamental behaviour of deep beams; to provide information on design topics which are inadequately covered by the current codes and design manuals; and to give authoritative revie

Book Analysis and Design of Elastic Beams

Download or read book Analysis and Design of Elastic Beams written by Walter D. Pilkey and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2002-11-20 with total page 479 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: State-of-the-art coverage of modern computational methods for the analysis and design of beams Analysis and Design of Elastic Beams presents computer models and applications related to thin-walled beams such as those used in mechanical and aerospace designs, where thin, lightweight structures with high strength are needed. This book will enable readers to compute the cross-sectional properties of individual beams with arbitrary cross-sectional shapes, to apply a general-purpose computer analysis of a complete structure to determine the forces and moments in the individual members, and to use a unified approach for calculating the normal and shear stresses, as well as deflections, for those members' cross sections. In addition, this book augments a solid foundation in the basic structural design theory of beams by: * Providing coverage of thin-wall structure analysis and optimization techniques * Applying computer numerical methods to classical design methods * Developing computational solutions for cross-sectional properties and stresses using finite element analyses Including access to an associated Web site with software for the analysis and design of any cross-sectional shape, Analysis and Design of Elastic Beams: Computational Methods is an essential reference for mechanical, aerospace, and civil engineers and designers working in the automotive, ship, and aerospace industries in product and process design, machine design, structural design, and design optimization, as well as students and researchers in these areas.

Book Digital Computer Program for Flexural Analysis of Beams

Download or read book Digital Computer Program for Flexural Analysis of Beams written by and published by . This book was released on 1963 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A solution is described for the flexural analysis of a beam by digital computer. Subroutines were written which calculate shear, moment, slope and deflection at any specified point on a beam if the loading is known. Shear deflection may be included for many support conditions. Neither elastic supports nor column effects are considered. The subroutines solve problems of variable beam cross-section and loading by utilizing an extension of 'McCaulay's Method, ' a generalized step function. The main program provides input-output facilities and also solves for indeterminate reactions on the beam. Problems and their solutions, showing the versatility of this program, are also included.
