Download or read book Theoretical Analysis of the Flow Field Over a Family of Ogive Bodies written by Ronnie W.. Guy and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page 456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Several analytical methods were employed to calculate the flow fields about spherically blunted ogives from Mach numbers of zero to 4.5. The methods used were the Dougles Herman (a panel method) with compressibility correction, the South potential flow program (RAXBOD) and the three dimensional method of characteristics. Bluntnesses varied from zero (sharp nosed) to one (hemispherical nose) and the finess ratio varied from 0.5 to 4.0. Where the computer codes being used permitted, the flow fields were calculated for 2 deg and 0 deg angle of attack; in all other cases only 0 deg angle of attack was considered. Data are presented for body surface distributions of pressure and Mach number and for wave drag. (Author).

Download or read book Shock Waves Marseille I written by Raymond Brun and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 497 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recently, there have been significant advances in the fields of high-enthalpy hypersonic flows, high-temperature gas physics, and chemistry shock propagation in various media, industrial and medical applications of shock waves, and shock-tube technology. This series contains all the papers and lectures of the 19th International Symposium on Shock Waves held in Marseille in 1993. They are published in four topical volumes, each containing papers on related topics, and preceded by an overview written by a leading international expert. The volumes may be purchased independently.

Download or read book Measured and Predicted Shock Shapes and Aerodynamic Coefficients for Blunted Cones at Incidence in Helium at Mach 20 3 written by Robert L. Calloway and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page 84 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Experimental values of shock shapes (alpha = 0 degrees and 10 degrees) and static aerodynamic coefficients (alpha = -4 degrees to 12 degrees) for sharp and spherically blunted cones having cone half-angles of 30, 45, 60, and 70 degrees and nose bluntness ratios of 0, 0.25, and 0.50 are presented. Shock shapes were also measured at 0 degree angle of attack by using a flat-faced cylinder (90 degree cone) and a hemispherically blunted cylinder (sphere). All tests were conducted in helium (gamma = 5/3) at a free-stream Mach number of 20.3 and a unit free-stream Reynolds number of 22,400,000 per meter. Comparisons between measured values and predicted values were made by using several numerical and simple engineering methods.

Download or read book Hypersonic and High Temperature Gas Dynamics written by John David Anderson and published by AIAA. This book was released on 1989 with total page 710 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a self-contained text for those students and readers interested in learning hypersonic flow and high-temperature gas dynamics. It assumes no prior familiarity with either subject on the part of the reader. If you have never studied hypersonic and/or high-temperature gas dynamics before, and if you have never worked extensively in the area, then this book is for you. On the other hand, if you have worked and/or are working in these areas, and you want a cohesive presentation of the fundamentals, a development of important theory and techniques, a discussion of the salient results with emphasis on the physical aspects, and a presentation of modern thinking in these areas, then this book is also for you. In other words, this book is designed for two roles: 1) as an effective classroom text that can be used with ease by the instructor, and understood with ease by the student; and 2) as a viable, professional working tool for engineers, scientists, and managers who have any contact in their jobs with hypersonic and/or high-temperature flow.
