Book Convective Heat Transfer in Porous Media

Download or read book Convective Heat Transfer in Porous Media written by Yasser Mahmoudi and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-11-06 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Focusing on heat transfer in porous media, this book covers recent advances in nano and macro’ scales. Apart from introducing heat flux bifurcation and splitting within porous media, it highlights two-phase flow, nanofluids, wicking, and convection in bi-disperse porous media. New methods in modeling heat and transport in porous media, such as pore-scale analysis and Lattice–Boltzmann methods, are introduced. The book covers related engineering applications, such as enhanced geothermal systems, porous burners, solar systems, transpiration cooling in aerospace, heat transfer enhancement and electronic cooling, drying and soil evaporation, foam heat exchangers, and polymer-electrolyte fuel cells.

Book The computational model of nanofluid considering heat transfer and entropy generation across a curved and flat surface

Download or read book The computational model of nanofluid considering heat transfer and entropy generation across a curved and flat surface written by Sayer Obaid Alharbi and published by Infinite Study. This book was released on 2023-01-01 with total page 17 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The entropy generation analysis for the nanofluid flowing over a stretching/shrinking curved region is performed in the existence of the cross-diffusion effect. The surface is also subjected to second-order velocity slip under the effect of mixed convection. The Joule heating that contributes significantly to the heat transfer properties of nanofluid is incorporated along with the heat source/sink. Furthermore, the flow is assumed to be governed by an exterior magnetic field that aids in gaining control over the flow speed. With these frameworks, the mathematical model that describes the flow with such characteristics and assumptions is framed using partial differential equations (PDEs). The bvp4c solver is used to numerically solve the system of non-linear ordinary differential equations (ODEs) that are created from these equations. The solutions of obtained through this technique are verified with the available articles and the comparison is tabulated. Meanwhile, the interpretation of the results of this study is delivered through graphs. The findings showed that the Bejan number was decreased by increasing Brinkman number values whereas it enhanced the entropy generation. Also, as the curvature parameter goes higher, the speed of the nanofluid flow diminishes. Furthermore, the increase in the Soret and Dufour effects have enhanced the thermal conduction and the mass transfer of the nanofluid.

  • ISBN : 1789238374
  • Pages : 246 pages

Download or read book Nanofluid Flow in Porous Media written by Mohsen Sheikholeslami Kandelousi and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2020-08-19 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Studies of fluid flow and heat transfer in a porous medium have been the subject of continuous interest for the past several decades because of the wide range of applications, such as geothermal systems, drying technologies, production of thermal isolators, control of pollutant spread in groundwater, insulation of buildings, solar power collectors, design of nuclear reactors, and compact heat exchangers, etc. There are several models for simulating porous media such as the Darcy model, Non-Darcy model, and non-equilibrium model. In porous media applications, such as the environmental impact of buried nuclear heat-generating waste, chemical reactors, thermal energy transport/storage systems, the cooling of electronic devices, etc., a temperature discrepancy between the solid matrix and the saturating fluid has been observed and recognized.

Book Multiphase Lattice Boltzmann Methods

Download or read book Multiphase Lattice Boltzmann Methods written by Haibo Huang and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2015-06-11 with total page 389 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Theory and Application of Multiphase Lattice Boltzmann Methods presents a comprehensive review of all popular multiphase Lattice Boltzmann Methods developed thus far and is aimed at researchers and practitioners within relevant Earth Science disciplines as well as Petroleum, Chemical, Mechanical and Geological Engineering. Clearly structured throughout, this book will be an invaluable reference on the current state of all popular multiphase Lattice Boltzmann Methods (LBMs). The advantages and disadvantages of each model are presented in an accessible manner to enable the reader to choose the model most suitable for the problems they are interested in. The book is targeted at graduate students and researchers who plan to investigate multiphase flows using LBMs. Throughout the text most of the popular multiphase LBMs are analyzed both theoretically and through numerical simulation. The authors present many of the mathematical derivations of the models in greater detail than is currently found in the existing literature. The approach to understanding and classifying the various models is principally based on simulation compared against analytical and observational results and discovery of undesirable terms in the derived macroscopic equations and sometimes their correction. A repository of FORTRAN codes for multiphase LBM models is also provided.

Book Numerical methods for diffusion phenomena in building physics

Download or read book Numerical methods for diffusion phenomena in building physics written by Nathan Mendes and published by PUCPRess. This book was released on 2017-05-19 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book intends to stimulate research in simulation of diff usion problems in building physics, by fi rst providing an overview of mathematical models and numerical techniques such as the fi nitediff erence and fi nite-element methods traditionally used in building simulation tools. Then, nonconventional methods such as reduced order models, boundary integral approaches and spectral methods are presented, which might be considered in the next generation of building-energy-simulation tools. The advantage of these methods includes the improvement of the numerical solution of diff usion phenomena, especially in large domains relevant to building energy performance analysis.
