Book A Comprehensive Survey of International Soybean Research

Download or read book A Comprehensive Survey of International Soybean Research written by James Board and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2013-01-02 with total page 628 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Soybean is the most important oilseed and livestock feed crop in the world. These dual uses are attributed to the crop's high protein content (nearly 40% of seed weight) and oil content (approximately 20%); characteristics that are not rivaled by any other agronomic crop. Across the 10-year period from 2001 to 2010, world soybean production increased from 168 to 258 million metric tons (54% increase). Against the backdrop of soybean's striking ascendancy is increased research interest in the crop throughout the world. Information in this book presents a comprehensive view of research efforts in genetics, plant physiology, agronomy, agricultural economics, and nitrogen relationships that will benefit soybean stakeholders and scientists throughout the world. We hope you enjoy the book.

Book Plant Single Cell Type Systems Biology

Download or read book Plant Single Cell Type Systems Biology written by Marc Libault and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2016-09-06 with total page 151 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The phenotype of a plant in response to a stress condition is the reflection of the molecular responses in different cell-types composing the plant. The multicellular complexity represents a challenge when accessing specific responses of each cell or cell type composing the plant. To overcome this difficulty and allow the clear characterization of the plant cell molecular mechanisms, the research community is now focusing on studying a single cell and single cell-types. The isolation of plant single cells is limited by the cell wall that confers the rigidity of the plant and its overall structure. Various methods have been developed for isolating plant cells (e.g. laser capture microdissection; cell sorting of Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP)-tagged protoplasts, differential protoplastization of cells such as guard cells, isolation of easily accessible cell types such as cotton fiber, pollen cells, trichomes and root hair cells). The development of these innovative approaches to isolate single plant cells or cell-types combined with the application of sensitive and high-throughput technologies allows a better analysis of the developmental processes and response to environmental stresses. Ultimately, single plant cell and cell-type biology will lead to establishment of more reliable and accurate -molecular regulatory networks at the resolution of basic life unit. The goal of this Research Topic is to cover new technological and biological advances in the study of plant single cell, cell-type and systems biology.

The dynamic Hong Kong, officially the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, is a largely self-governing territory of the People's Republic of China (PRC), facing the Guangdong Province in the north and the South China Sea to the east, west and south. Under the "one country, two systems" policy, Hong Kong enjoys considerable autonomy in all areas with the exception of foreign affairs and defense (which are the responsibility of the PRC Government). As part of this arrangement, Hong Kong continues to maintain its own currency, separate legal, political systems and other aspects that concern its way of life, many of which are distinct from those of mainland China. In relation with the title of this proceeding, Biological and Medical Engineering, Developmental biology, Environmental Biology, Evolutionary Biology, Marine Biology, Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Fundamentals, Chemical engineering educational challenges and development, Chemical reaction engineering, Chemical engineering equipment design and process design, Thermodynamics, Catalysis & reaction engineering, Advances in computational & numerical methods, Systems biology, Integration of Life Sciences & Engineering, Multi-scale and Multi-disciplinary Approaches, Controlled release of the active ingredient, Energy & nuclear sciences, Energy and environment, CFD & chemical engineering, Food engineering etc, has been targeted and included in this proceeding. The proceeding is the results of the contribution of a number of experts from the international scientific community in the respective field of research.

Download or read book Soybean written by Minobu Kasai and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2019-02-20 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Plants are important for a permanent ecosystem, because in the ecological pyramid plants support all the other living organisms at the base. Very important organization is thought to be the integral process of resource, transport, partitioning, metabolism, and production, which involves yield, biomass, and productivity in plants. Accordingly, it is important to obtain more information about the knowledge concerning yield, biomass, and productivity in plants. Soybean is one of the main crops largely contributing to our life, which is thought to be connected to our ecosystem through the above-mentioned integral process. This book focuses on the soybean, and reviews and research concerning the yield, biomass, and productivity of soybean are presented herein. This text updates the book published in 2017. Although there are many difficulties, the main aim of this book is to present a basis for the above-mentioned integral processes of resource, transport, partitioning, metabolism, and production, which involves yield, biomass, and productivity in plants (soybean), and to understand what supports this basis and the integral process. It is hoped that this and the preceding book will be essential reads.
