The study thus makes the case that crime perpetrated by women tends to be rooted in protracted socio-economic crises and bad governance. In particular, the author considers: the treatment and punishment of women criminals and attitudes of prison officials to women prisoners and detainees, and the psychological and sociological aspects of female criminality.
