Download or read book Forever Beyond written by Hrishikesh Sasikumar and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2014-07-22 with total page 203 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My name is Brandon Crasta. I'm an ordinary man. My life hasn't been the breathtaking adventure I'd have imagined it to be when I was young, but neither has it been the publicly uninteresting spectacle as people brand the common man's life to be. It's been a mixture of both, and no matter how you choose to view it, this does not erase the footprints of my path, or the choices I have made. I'm proud of the things I've done, and though some of them may have been outrightly stupid, I've followed my heart, and fulfilled most of my dreams, and I think to me, that is enough.

Download or read book The Approach to Philosophy written by Ralph Perry and published by Perennial Press. This book was released on 2018-03-04 with total page 163 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Philosophy suffers the distinction of being regarded as essentially an academic pursuit. The term philosophy, to be sure, is used in common speech to denote a stoical manner of accepting the vicissitudes of life; but this conception sheds little or no light upon the meaning of philosophy as a branch of scholarship. The men who write the books on "Epistemology" or "Ontology," are regarded by the average man of affairs, even though he may have enjoyed a "higher education," with little sympathy and less intelligence. Not even philology seems less concerned with the real business of life. The pursuit of philosophy appears to be a phenomenon of extreme and somewhat effete culture, with its own peculiar traditions, problems, and aims, and with little or nothing to contribute to the real enterprises of society.

I never heard anything like it. Did you ever hear such a galamathias?" The young lady walking by her side answered by a cold little laugh— "Yes, I suppose so. All small country towns are, I believe," said she. "And that good old soul, Mrs. Jones, she does invent the most absurd gossip about every body that imagination can conceive. Wilmot told me the other day that she had given her to understand that your father is a madman, sent down here by London doctors for change of air. I make it a point never to mind one word she says; although her news, I confess, does amuse me." "Yes, it is, very foolish. Who are those Etherages?" said Margaret. "Oh! They are village people—oddities," said Miss Sheckleton. "From all I can gather, you have no idea what absurd people they are." "He was walking with them. Was not he?" asked the young lady. "Yes—I think so," answered her cousin.
