Book A Combination of CDF and D0 Limits on the Branching Ratio of B0 s d Mu Mu Decays

Download or read book A Combination of CDF and D0 Limits on the Branching Ratio of B0 s d Mu Mu Decays written by C. J. Lin and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors combine the results of CDF and D0 searches for the rare decays B{sub s}{sup 0} {yields} {mu}{sup +}{mu}{sup -} and B{sub d}{sup 0} {yields} {mu}{sup +}{mu}{sup -}. The experiments use 364 pb{sup -1} and 300 pb{sup -1} of data respectively. The limits on the branching ratios are obtained by normalizing the estimated sensitivity to the decay B{sup +} {yields} J/{psi}K{sup +} taking into account the fragmentation ratios f{sub u}/f{sub s(d)}. The combined results exclude branching ratios of BR(B{sub s}{sup 0} {yields} {mu}{sup +}{mu}{sup -})> 1.5 x 10{sup -7} and BR(B{sub d}{sup 0} {yields} {mu}{sup +}{mu}{sup -})> 4.0 x 10{sup -8} at 95% confidence level. These are the most stringent limits on these decays at the present time.

Download or read book Searches for FCNC Decays B S D Mu Mu written by Matthew Herndon and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 4 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors report on a search for B{sub s}{sup 0} {yields} {mu}{sup +}{mu}{sup -} and B{sub d}{sup 0} {yields} {mu}{sup +}{mu}{sup -} decays in p{bar p} collisions at {radical}s = 1.96 TeV using 171 pb{sup -1} and 240 pb{sup -1} of data collected respectively by the CDF and D0 experiments at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The decay rates of these rare processes are sensitive to contributions from physics beyond the Standard Model. The results from the two experiments are a combined branching fraction limit of {Beta}(B{sub s}{sup 0} {yields} {mu}{sup +}{mu}{sup -})

Download or read book Limit on the Rare Decay B yields mu sup mu sup minus K sup plus minus written by and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We report on a search for flavor-changing neutral current decays of B mesons into [mu][mu]K[sup [plus-minus]] using data obtained in the Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF) 1992--1993 data taking run. To reduce the amount of background in our data we use precise tracking information from the CDF silicon vertex detector to pinpoint the location of the decay vertex of the B candidate, and accept only events which have a large decay time. We compare this data to a B meson signal obtained in a similar fashion, but where the muon pears originate from [psi] decays, and calculate the relative branching ratios. In absence of any indication of flavor-changing neutral current decay we set an upper limit on the branching ratio of 3.2 [times] 10[sup [minus]1], which is consistent with Standard Model expectations but leaves little room for non-standard physics.

Book A New Expected Upper Limit on the Rare Decay B s Mu Mu with the D0 Experiment

Download or read book A New Expected Upper Limit on the Rare Decay B s Mu Mu with the D0 Experiment written by and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 4 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present a new expected upper limit of the rare decay branching ratio B{sub s} →??− using about 5 fb−1 of Run II data collected with the D0 detector at the Tevatron. When setting limits on the branching ratio, selected events are normalized to reconstructed B{sup {+-}} → J/?K{sup {+-}} events in order to decrease the systematic uncertainty. The resulting expected upper limit is?(B{sub s} →?+?−) = 4.3(5.3) x 10−8 at the 90% (95%) C.L.

Book Rare Charm and B Decays at CDF

Download or read book Rare Charm and B Decays at CDF written by and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present results on rare charm and B decays using 65pb[sup -1] of data taken with the CDF detector in Run II. Three results are discussed, a measurement of the relative branching ratios[Lambda](D[sup 0][yields] K[sup+]K[sup -])/[Lambda](D[sup 0][yields] K[pi]) and[Lambda](D[sup 0][yields][pi][sup+][pi][sup -])/[Lambda](D[sup 0][yields] K[pi]) and the direct CP-violating decay rate asymmetry, and a limit on the branching ratio of the FCNC decay D[sup 0][yields][mu][sup+][mu][sup -]. We also discuss the prospects for the search for B[sub s][sup 0][yields][mu][sup+][mu][sup -] decays.

Download or read book Search for Bs D Mu Mu Decays with 10 FB of Pp Collisions written by Walter Hopkins and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A search for the rare decays of B0 [RIGHTWARDS ARROW] [MICRO SIGN]+ [MICRO SIGN][-] and B0 [RIGHTWARDS ARROW] [MICRO SIGN]+ [MICRO SIGN][-] is presented in p p collis d [SQUARE ROOT] sions at s=1.96 TeV corresponding to 10 fb[-]1 of integrated luminosity collected by the CDF II detector. The observed number of B0 candidates is consistent with d background-only expectations and yields an upper limit on the branching fraction B(B0 [RIGHTWARDS ARROW] [MICRO SIGN]+ [MICRO SIGN][-]) of 4.2 x 10[-]9 at 95% confidence level. An excess is observed d for the B0 signal region. The probability that background processes alone could s produce such an excess or larger is 0.94%. The probability that the combination of background and the expected standard model rate B0 [RIGHTWARDS ARROW] [MICRO SIGN]+ [MICRO SIGN][-] could produce s such an excess or larger is 6.8%. These data are used to determine a central value of B(B0 [RIGHTWARDS ARROW] [MICRO SIGN]+ [MICRO SIGN][-]) = (1.3+0.9) x 10[-]8 as well as a two sided limit at 90% C.L. s [-]0 7 of 2.2 x 10[-]9

Book New Results for Rare Muon Decays

Download or read book New Results for Rare Muon Decays written by and published by . This book was released on 1986 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Branching-ratio limits obtained with the Crystal Box detector are presented for the rare muon decays ..mu.. ..-->.. eee, ..mu.. ..-->.. e..gamma.., and ..mu.. ..-->.. e..gamma gamma ... These decays, which violate the conservation of separate lepton-family numbers, are expected to occur in many extensions to the standard model. We found no candidates for the decay ..mu.. ..-->.. eee, yielding an upper limit for the branching ratio of B/sub ..mu..3e/ 3.1 x 10−11 (90% C.L.). A maximum-likelihood analysis of the ..mu.. ..--.. e..gamma.. candidates yields an upper limit of B/sub ..mu..e..gamma../ 4.9 x 10−11 and an analogous analysis of ..mu.. ..--.. e..gamma gamma.. candidates gives an upper limit of B/sub ..mu..e..gamma gamma../

This book was released on 2011 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Using 1.3 fb-̂1 of data from p-pbar collisions at sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV collected with the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron, we have measured the relative branching ratio BR(B-̂ -> D0̂ K-̂)/BR(B-̂ -> D0̂ pi-̂) and its charge conjugate in the D0̂ flavor decay mode D0̂_f -> K-̂pi+̂ and the CP-even decay modes D0̂ -> K-̂K+̂ and D0̂ -> pi-̂pi+̂. From these measurements, we derive: R = (7.99 +- 0.33(stat.) +- 0.38(sys.)) %, R_{CP+} = 1.15 +- 0.17(stat.) +- 0.02(sys.), A_{CP+} = 0.10 +- 0.15(stat.) +- 0.02(sys.). These values are consistent with Standard Model expectations.
