Book A Circus Day Adventure For Emma and Jake

Download or read book A Circus Day Adventure For Emma and Jake written by Mary Ann Barker and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2012-07-05 with total page 27 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “A CIRCUS DAY ADVENTURE FOR EMMA AND JAKE” Having now experienced the thrill and success of my 1st edition children’s book “The Magical Adventures of Emma and Jake,” I am struck with renewed enthusiasm during the creation of this 2nd edition “A Circus Day Adventure for Emma and Jake.” The colours and ideas just flowed while I painted on 12 x 12 canvas boards, all the images and characters. I designed this book to relate to all things for a day at the Circus, colourful, entertaining and educational. For children up to 7 years of age, the reader will experience all the wonder of the Circus and the joys it brings. I wanted very much to create the second edition book based on a theme that children of this age group would enjoy and even learn from. I feel I have again accomplished my mission and you will see Emma and Jake are thrilled to be going off on another adventure together this time joined by Emma’s Mom and Dad. I have long awaited this day to bring such colorful themes to life for young children, as I come from a very large extended family myself with many youngster in it. The tremendous joy of seeing young faces light up with a good story line and colorful subjects, while learning from it all, is a sight to behold. Do enjoy this 2nd edition children’s book “A Circus Day Adventure for Emma and Jake” as illustrated and written by Mary Ann Barker (writer/artist). Also look for my 1st edition “The Magical Adventures of Emma and Jake.”

The photographs and text work together brilliantly to create an unforgettable story.”—John Green, New York Times best-selling author of The Fault in Our Stars “With its X-Men: First Class-meets-time-travel story line, David Lynchian imagery, and rich, eerie detail, it’s no wonder Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children has been snapped up by Twentieth Century Fox. B+”—Entertainment Weekly “‘Peculiar’ doesn’t even begin to cover it. Book excerpt: From the New York Times bestselling author of Room comes a moving set of historical stories spanning centuries and continents. The fascinating characters that roam across the pages of Emma Donoghue's stories have all gone astray: they are emigrants, runaways, drifters, lovers old and new. They are gold miners and counterfeiters, attorneys and slaves. They cross other borders too: those of race, law, sex, and sanity. They travel for love or money, incognito or under duress. With rich historical detail, the celebrated author of Room takes us from puritan Massachusetts to revolutionary New Jersey, antebellum Louisiana to the Toronto highway, lighting up four centuries of wanderings that have profound echoes in the present. Astray offers us a surprising and moving history for restless times.

Book excerpt: "The right of a government to govern its citizens must be based on the consent of those citizens who will be governed. Union is trying to preserve a unity of states, and Confederate is trying to preserve its right to govern itself. What the Underground Railroad is doing is right for the families who have stopped at our Station. The LAW says what we did is wrong! In our estimation, slavery is totally wrong." So believed my great-grandparents, who understood the Civil War was more than it has since become understood to be. "I pray that as a country, we come to the point where we are truly all equal, where the color of a man's skin is not even a consideration, much less an issue. Perhaps our great-grandchildren will be able to overcome this war, but I do not believe it will be in our lifetime. Not in our children's children's lifetime."

Book excerpt: A 2015 Whitney Award Nominee! A powerful story of loss, second chances, and first love, reminiscent of Sarah Dessen and John Green. When Oakley Nelson loses her older brother, Lucas, to cancer, she thinks she’ll never recover. Between her parents’ arguing and the battle she’s fighting with depression, she feels nothing inside but a hollow emptiness. When Mom suggests they spend a few months in California with Aunt Jo, Oakley isn’t sure a change of scenery will alter anything, but she’s willing to give it a try. In California, Oakley discovers a sort of safety and freedom in Aunt Jo’s beach house. Once they’re settled, Mom hands her a notebook full of letters addressed to her—from Lucas. As Oakley reads one each day, she realizes how much he loved her, and each letter challenges her to be better and to continue to enjoy her life. He wants her to move on. If only it were that easy. But then a surfer named Carson comes into her life, and Oakley is blindsided. He makes her feel again. As she lets him in, she is surprised by how much she cares for him, and that’s when things get complicated. How can she fall in love and be happy when Lucas never got the chance to do those very same things? With her brother’s dying words as guidance, Oakley knows she must learn to listen and trust again. But will she have to leave the past behind to find happiness in the future? Book excerpt: I'm about to welcome you into my world. Show you what works for me and share openly what hasn't. I hope that what you find in the pages of this book inspires you to dream up new ways to be kind to people and to think about how the game you're currently playing might be worthy of a bigger court. I hope it stretches your thinking about what's possible, and shows you that when you take giant leaps of faith, the only challenging thing will be some temporary discomfort. Are you ready to wing it? CEO and entrepreneur Emma Isaacs forgot to draw up her life plan, and she doesn't have a list of five-year goals. She doesn't believe in work/life balance - after all she has five children and heads up Business Chicks, Australia's largest community for women. Like Sheryl Sandberg, who told us to 'lean in' to find success, Emma wants to show us that you can't plan every detail and wait for the confidence to kick in before you begin; instead, take action now, do what feels right and figure the rest out as you go along. In other words, you've got to learn how to 'wing it' rather than wait. Drawing on her own life and the stories of the many men and women she has met and interviewed - from Sir Richard Branson to Bill Gates to Girlboss Sophia Amoruso - Emma tells us how to: * Turn a dream into a job * Turn a job into a business * Network like a champion * Protect your time for the things that matter * Get fired up not ground down by the kids/career juggle, and * Understand that sometimes failure is part of the brief. Emma shows us that often the only thing holding us back is ourselves; that you can follow your dreams; and that there's no reason not to start doing so right now. PRAISE FOR EMMA ISAACS "Emma Isaacs is a true force of nature and a role model all women can learn from" Diane von Furstenberg "Emma's energy and enthusiasm for business shine brightly" Sir Richard Branson "Winging It will show you how to map out what's important to you, stay focussed on achieving your goals and thrive" Arianna Huffington
