Book A Checkered Path to Destiny

Download or read book A Checkered Path to Destiny written by Ivan L. Flynn and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2012-01-27 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Checkered Path to Destiny is about the survival of a young man born in a rural area of Jamaica into the Lower Class of Society. It tells of his constant desire to find a place to call home and a fit for him in Jamaican society. Ivan really digs deep to open a window to the world he survived. Every child has the right to a name, a home and an education. Sadly, a lack of those basic rights plus hunger and abuse all became a normal part of Ivan’s severely limited childhood. Some of the odds against him were: a broken home, being placed as a servant in the care of others, a lack of education and many of his trials were self-imposed. The Checkered Path in Jamaica took a dramatic turn that changed his life forever. Ivan indicates in this book that he has always been inspired by people of high moral values and fortitude. These were people he held up as role models, and chose to emulate throughout his life. As a result, he learns very early in life that all good opportunities come and go and like a moving platform one must chose to either hop on or watch in bewilderment as it gets out of reach. Unfortunately as he grew older, he did not always practice what he had learned. A Checkered Path to Destiny will horrify, intrigue and delight people of all ages – globally. Perhaps you will smile as you read this book, and even question the author’s rational for being so candid about certain events, but in this writing his history shows not what he wished it could have been, but what was and what is. Book Churchill

Download or read book Churchill written by Paul Addison and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2005 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the Second World War, Winston Churchill won two resounding victories. The first was a victory over Nazi Germany, the second a victory over the legion of sceptics who had derided his judgement, denied his claims to greatness, and excluded him from high office on the grounds that he was sure to be a danger to King and Country. Churchill was the only British politician of the twentieth century to become an enduring national hero. The curious thing is that it happened at the age of 65, at a time when he was considered to be a spent force, with a track-record of disastrous decisions. All but the most hostile of his adversaries conceded that he possessed great abilities, remarkable eloquence, and a streak of genius. But it was almost universally agreed that he was a shameless egotist, an opportunist without principles or convictions, an unreliable colleague, an erratic policy-maker who lacked judgement, and a reckless amateur strategist with a dangerous passion for war and bloodshed. At one time or another in his career, he had offended every party and faction in the land, yet despite this he became the embodiment of national unity, an uncrowned king who threatened to eclipse the monarchy. In this incisive new biography, Paul Addison tells the story of Churchill's life in parallel with the history of his reputation. He seeks to explain why Churchill was transformed into a national hero, and why his heroic status has endured ever since in spite of the attempts of iconoclasts to debunk him. He argues that we are now in a position to reach beyond the mythology - both positive and negative - to see the real Winston Churchill, a warrior-statesman whose qualities were remarkably consistent through all the vicissitudes of his career.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To Dream of You After months spent in hiding, Princess Holly is finally ready to take her rightful place as ruler of Atharia. All she has to do now is survive her murderous uncle’s attempts to steal the throne for himself. But when a mysterious gentleman washes up on the shores of her beach, she’s shocked to realize she needs his help almost as much as he needs hers … When Drew Meyers left his estate, his plan was to escape the arranged marriage, his scheming father brokered for him. The storm that nearly killed him was not part of the plan. Neither was meeting her. Holly is everything he ever wanted, and he will do anything to keep her safe and get her home—even if doing so means he’ll be forced to let her go forever… A union between a princess and a lowly future duke is forbidden. But as intrigue abounds and their enemies circle, will Drew and Holly defy the obligations and expectations that stand between them to take a chance on love? Or is their happily ever after merely a dream? A Royal Proposition She’s all that stands between him and his dream. But maybe it’s time for a new dream… Princess Alessa is finally free. Now that her sister is Queen and their rightful place in Atharia is secure, she can embark on a Season in London and begin work to help the less fortunate. Or she could—if only her gruff, blunt, and entirely too handsome guard would stay out of her way… Rowan Oakley is on the verge of having the wealth and security he’s always craved. All he must do to earn it is kill the fiery, obstinate, and very enticing Alessa. It’s an easy assignment. Or it would be—if only he could keep his thoughts (and mouth) off his target… It’s not long before Rowan is caught between what he’s always wanted, and the prospect of a love he never expected. But in the end, is happily ever after even a possibility for a royal and the poor, former street urchin sent to kill her? Forever My Princess She’s not who he thinks she is. But she just might be everything he needs… Tired doesn’t even begin to describe how Princess Elena of Atharia is feeling. A brief respite from the pressures of her position will do her good. Unfortunately, rest isn’t something royalty is typically afforded. But she’ll do what is necessary to escape her responsibilities for a time—even if it means becoming someone else entirely… Lord Theodore Ward has no love for the wealthy. But if he doesn’t marry well soon, he’ll lose everything. And his hunt for a perfect bride cannot begin while his mother is unwell and unattended. So, hiring a lady’s companion is the only option. Then the lovely Elena Smith arrives at his door and his plans become infinitely more complicated… When all the truths and secrets come to light, can these opposites find their way to happily ever after? Or will Theo lose his princess forever?
