Book A Chalice of Miracles

Download or read book A Chalice of Miracles written by John W. Casperson and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2008-12-15 with total page 622 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An excerpt, "Miraculous power emanates when wisdom and moral strength and moral discipline determine words and actions that resonate with harmony of eternal morals as opposed to immediate temptations of egoic desire. Miraculous power emanates when we comfort or care for someone in need. Miraculous power of forgiveness can transform a life. Miraculous power of hope can generate a million possibilities. Miraculous power of honesty can cleanse guilt. Miraculous power of atonement can eliminate karmic debt. While miraculous power of faith can move mountains, we possess the miraculous inability to understand that faith is not “one size fits all.” There are many paths to the one Truth. Whether Christianity or Islam, religious faith can cause violence and strife among us. Miraculous power of reason can acknowledge that felicity and adversity are the keys of the same piano from which the harmony of life is comprised, and one Composer wrote the symphony. A miracle of empathy can bestow freedom on those who need understanding and knowledge upon those who endeavor to understand. A miracle of affectionate love can transform lover and loved. A physical expression of love can fashion a portal (conception) through which an infinite soul may once again choose to incarnate in order to experience the awe and mystery of life on this small planet amidst the backwaters of the universe. All these powers to be sure, rest within the Chalice of Miracles, the Holy Grail of our bodies that cradles conscience and nurtures within us a creative impulse that impels us toward Divinity."

Book The Miracle and the Message

Download or read book The Miracle and the Message written by John C. Preiss and published by Our Sunday Visitor. This book was released on 2017-09-15 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A century old — eternally new. 2017 marks the 100th anniversary of the apparitions of the Virgin Mary to three shepherd children at Fatima, Portugal. The message of Fatima reflects all the teachings of the Catholic faith. It’s a message so simple that children could understand it — yet one so rich that theologians are still mining its depths. In The Miracle and the Message: 100 Years of Fatima, author John C. Preiss describes in clear detail the Blessed Mother’s appearances to Lucia dos Santos and Francisco and Jacinta Marto (now the Church’s youngest canonized saints) and shares the background, sights, and sounds that draw you into the events as they unfolded over the course of the twentieth century. More than just a history lesson about the apparitions, The Miracle and the Message shows us how to claim the message in our own lives and fully embrace what Mary offers the Church and the World. Whether you know little about what happened in Fatima and want to learn more, or you already have a devotion to Our Lady of the Rosary, you will love The Miracle and the Message. Includes eight pages of photos. ABOUT THE AUTHOR John Preiss is President of the Fatima Family Apostolate International, a Public Association of the Faithful, founded in 1986 by the late Father Robert J. Fox. The mission of the Fatima Family Apostolate International is to promote the message of Fatima and the sanctification of family life.

They have shaped world history and continue to influence us through their presence in films, television, novels, and popular culture. This encyclopedia provides a unique resource on the philosophical, historical, religious, and cross-cultural conceptions of miracles that cut across denominational lines. Multidisciplinary in approach, this informative yet entertaining encyclopedia covers major aspects of miraculous phenomena through more than 150 alphabetically arranged entries that document how humanity's belief in religious miracles over multiple places, periods, and faiths have affected society—even changed the course of history. Written for high school students and general readers, the coverage enables readers to learn about different civilizations and cultures, the controversies surrounding different beliefs, and the often uncomfortable engagement of religion with science. This single-volume book provides a one-stop ready-reference that addresses a broad variety of subject matter on miraculous phenomena and guides further investigations into the subject. Helpful illustrations and lucid explanations of the ancillary concepts associated with miraculous phenomena make learning about this topic more engaging. Readers will be able to link the doctrinal concepts, such as "grace" or "prayer," with the descriptions of miraculous events, especially those associated with saints or holy objects. The examination of the controversial aspects of different belief systems along with the book's balanced coverage of the interpretation of miracles will encourage students to weigh different explanations, thus fostering the development of their critical thinking skills.

Book Miracles on the Border

Durand and Massey analyze 124 contemporary retablo texts, scrutinizing the shifting subjects and themes that constitute a running record of the migrant's unique experience. The result is a vivid work of synthesis that connects the history of an art form and a people, links two very different cultures, and allows a deeper understanding of a major twentieth-century theme—the drama of transnational migration.
