Book A Case Study of Daimler AG s Entry in the Hungarian Automotive Industry

Download or read book A Case Study of Daimler AG s Entry in the Hungarian Automotive Industry written by Stefan Bömer and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2022-01-28 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Seminar paper from the year 2018 in the subject Business economics - Operations Research, grade: 1,7, The University of York, language: English, abstract: This case study focuses on the entrance of Daimler AG in form of their brand Mercedes-Benz Cars, in the following Mercedes-Benz, originally founded in Germany, into the Hungarian automotive market. Mercedes-Benz is active in the field of passenger cars and this specific section will be addressed. Even though previous interaction with the Hungarian market was conducted in the past, the focus will lie on the successful engagement of Mercedes-Benz since 2008, when the decision to build a car assembly plant in Kecskemét was taken. For its foreign engagement in Hungary, Mercedes-Benz used an offshore outsourcing strategy shown by strong engagement with local suppliers which produce many parts for the car manufacturer, in combination with equity investment in the final assembly plant. This makes Mercedes-Benz a fragmented MNE as it uses outsourcing, while at the same time it is an original design manufacturer. It's designs and produces are crucial parts of its cars itself. The core business strategy is described for Mercedes-Benz with respect to four aspects: strengthening core businesses, growing globally, leading in technology and pushing digitalization. Regarding the strengthened core business and growing globally, this leads to further increase sales of high-tech cars, especially in China and Asia. With respect to leading in technology and pushing digitalization, Mercedes-Benz aims at expanding its technological leadership in the field of security, autonomous driving, connectivity and drive systems.

Book Taken for a Ride

Download or read book Taken for a Ride written by Bill Vlasic and published by Harper Collins. This book was released on 2009-10-13 with total page 424 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In May 1998, a stunning $36 billion merger was announced by Chrysler, the all-American automaker, and Daimler-Benz, the German manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz luxury sedans. This corporate marriage promised to rock the global auto industry, but when the dust settled, Daimler had bought Chrysler, and an American icon had lost its independence. Taken for a Ride follows the twists and turns on the road to DaimlerChrysler and is a cautionary tale of the risks and rewards of going global. “A book in the manner of Barbarians at the Gate-a spellbinding tale, juicy gossip and all, of how business is really done among the world’s top companies...full of fresh facts and insights on one of the most heavily covered business stories of the 1990s...it is as fun to read as it is informative.” -New York Times Book Review

Book Introducing New Materials in the Automotive Industry

Download or read book Introducing New Materials in the Automotive Industry written by Fredrik Henriksson and published by Linköping University Electronic Press. This book was released on 2017-11-08 with total page 137 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Passenger vehicles are central to Western society, and contribute to a significant part of our greenhouse gas emissions. In order to reduce emissions, the automotive industry as a whole is working to reduce mass in passenger vehicles in order to reduce energy consumption. One way to reduce mass is to introduce lightweight materials in the body of the vehicle. This research aims to explore the relationship between product and production system when introducing new materials. Besides a theoretical review and an industry-centered technological mapping, four case studies have been conducted during the course of this licentiate thesis. Two case studies were conducted with engineering design students working as development teams, one case study with the author as the developer and finally one case study in an industrial environment at a product owning company with in-house production. The goal of the case studies has been to increase the collective knowledge of how product development decisions affect production development decisions, and vice versa, when developing passenger vehicles in new materials. In the following analysis of case study outcomes, a number of factors important for introducing new materials are discussed. The relationship between product and production is investigated, both in terms of how the production system affects the product and how the product affects the production system. The outcome from this analysis is a mapping of important factors for automotive industry companies to understand and identify when looking at introducing new materials in existing production systems. Finally, a suggestion for future research efforts is presented.

Book Post Communist Mafia State

Download or read book Post Communist Mafia State written by B lint Magyar and published by Central European University Press. This book was released on 2016-03-01 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Having won a two-third majority in Parliament at the 2010 elections, the Hungarian political party Fidesz removed many of the institutional obstacles of exerting power. Just like the party, the state itself was placed under the control of a single individual, who since then has applied the techniques used within his party to enforce submission and obedience onto society as a whole. In a new approach the author characterizes the system as the ?organized over-world?, the ?state employing mafia methods? and the ?adopted political family', applying these categories not as metaphors but elements of a coherent conceptual framework. The actions of the post-communist mafia state model are closely aligned with the interests of power and wealth concentrated in the hands of a small group of insiders. While the traditional mafia channeled wealth and economic players into its spheres of influence by means of direct coercion, the mafia state does the same by means of parliamentary legislation, legal prosecution, tax authority, police forces and secret service. The innovative conceptual framework of the book is important and timely not only for Hungary, but also for other post-communist countries subjected to autocratic rules. ÿ

Book Innovation Networks

Download or read book Innovation Networks written by Knut Koschatzky and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 293 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Innovation networks are a major source for acquiring new information and knowledge and thus for supporting innovation processes. Despite the many theoretical and empirical contributions to the explanation of networks, many questions still remain open. For example: How can networks, if they do not emerge by their own, be initiated? How can fragmentation in innovation systems be overcome? And how can networking experience from market economies be transferred to the emerging economies of Central and Eastern Europe? By presenting a selection of papers which address innovation networking from theoretical and political viewpoints, the book aims at giving answers to these questions.
