Download or read book Book of Wisdom by John Gill written by James J Maccabbee Company and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2009-04 with total page 502 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: About the Author John Gill (1697 - 1771) was born in Kettering, Northamptonshire. In his youth, he attended Kettering Grammar School, mastering the Latin classics and learning Greek by age eleven. The young scholar also had a love for Hebrew which would follow him throughout his life. At about twelve years of age, Gill heard a sermon from his pastor, William Wallis, whose text came from Genesis 3:9, "And the Lord called unto Adam, and said unto him, where art thou?" He reflected often on the message of Wallis' sermon and it eventually led to his conversion. It was not until seven years later, however, that young John made a public profession of his faith in Christ, when he was almost nineteen years of age. His first pastoral work was as an intern at age twenty one, and he later became a pastor in Southwark, England. His pastorate lasted 51 years. Gill was an English Bible scholar, and a prolific writer who authored among other things, an expository commentary on the entire Bible. John Gill was a profound scholar whose ministry in some fashion still touches millions of people worldwide. About this Book Unlike human wisdom, the Book of Proverbs is of divine inspiration. The Book of Wisdom is presented as a devotional from John Gill's commentary on these Proverbs. Book of Wisdom is a tribute offered by the James J. MacCabbee Company to Pastor John Gills' lifetime of brilliant work. As Proverbs 8:1, "Doth not Wisdom cry?" This daily devotional is prepared for governmental leaders, leaders in the news and entertainment industries, clergy and laypersons; employees and employers; spouses, parents and children. In fact Wisdom is offered to "anyone who has ears to hear" (see Matthew 13:9). Those who receive such Wisdom as presented here will not be disappointed.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Michael would have been content living out his days in the peacefulness of his quiet mountain hamlet. The complexity of urban living and the activities of sinister criminals, never reached their sleepy village. This would all change when an evil family, lacking a moral compass, would challenge their peaceful way of life. Eighteenth century Georgian, England, was a dangerous spider's web of complex relationships, diverse communities, and compelling business interests. Confronted by the maliciousness of the wicked, Michael's sense of morality would serve as the battleground for his growth as a man. Michael, the confident musician, would find himself thrust out upon the turbulence of a more challenging life by two things: the cancer of criminal intrigue and the consolation of tender romance. He would explore what it would mean to share a deep relationship. He would learn that love is so much more than romance. For Michael, much like a ship, greatness wouldn't be discovered until it had weathered perilous storms and survived desperate battles.
Download or read book How to Keep Your Soul written by M.Morales and published by Mercedes Morales. This book was released on 2023-08-12 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Some people don’t care about their soul. You see this a lot in the entertainment industry where celebrities “sell their soul to the devil” for fame and fortune: “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:36 ). How is it possible to lose your soul? Well, according to the Bible, “Every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed” (James 1:14), so how do we avoid the traps of the enemy? We will explore these questions and the connection between the spirit, soul, and body. You will also learn how precious your soul is to God and how fragile or easily damaged it can become “Rescue my soul from their destructions, my precious life from the lions” (Psalms 35:17). You will learn to destroy the works or schemes of the enemy “For they intended evil against thee: they imagined mischievous device, which they are not able to perform” (Psalm 21:11) and call heaven (the designs or plans of God) to earth to fulfill your divine purpose. Finally, you will pray like David in the book of Psalms, a prophetic book, to deliver your soul from captivity. I have hi-lighted key Scriptures throughout the text to use in your meditations and prayers.

The book is structured and highlights the "must know" information to help you become the person you want to be. There are many important questions in life. How would you respond if someone asks you to become rich at the expense of others? How do you identify those who want to use you? How do you respond to authority? Why learn and strive? What are we doing here anyway? What do people expect? What difference does it make anyway? How do I know what is best for me? Proverbs are wise sayings that answer these issues. Proverbs explain the problems and give the answers. Understand them and you cannot fail. They are presented so you will be riveted to the next phase of the process, building from simple things to the most complex. We all want to win, but we need to know is how to do it.

Download or read book Commentary on Proverbs written by Charles Bridges and published by Christian Classics Reproductions. This book was released on 2024-06-23 with total page 367 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ENDORSEMENTS ‘The best work on the Proverbs. The Scriptural method of exposition so well carried out by Bridges renders all his writings very suggestive to ministers. While explaining the passage in hand, he sets other portions of the word in new lights.’ — C. H. SPURGEON BOOK DESCRIPTION The Book of Proverbs, in Bridges’ view, ‘is not generally estimated at its just value’. The author of The Christian Ministry does not favour a purely technical study of the text, but gives a homiletical and practical treatment. ‘The best work on the Proverbs’, was C.H. Spurgeon’s verdict on this commentary. ‘Whilst explaining the passage in hand, he sets other portions of the word in new lights’. Charles Bridges (1794-1869) was one of the leaders of Evangelical party in the Church of England in the last century. He was the vicar of Old Newton, Suffolk, from 1823 to 1849, and later of Weymouth and Hinton Martell in Dorset. Although The Christian Ministry is Bridges’ best known literary work, his expositions which included Ecclesiastes and Psalm 119 as well as Proverbs, are highly valued.
