Book Fuzzy Automata and Languages

Download or read book Fuzzy Automata and Languages written by John N. Mordeson and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2002-03-19 with total page 577 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fuzzy Automata Theory offers the first in-depth treatment of the theory and mathematics of fuzzy automata and fuzzy languages. It effectively compares and contrasts the different approaches used in fuzzy mathematics and automata and includes complete proofs of the theoretical results presented. More than 60 figures and 125 examples illustrate the results, and exercises in each chapter serve not only to test understanding, but also to present material not covered in detail within the text. Although the book is theoretical in nature, the authors also discuss applications in a variety of fields, including databases, medicine, learning systems, and pattern recognition.

Book A Guide to the Literature on Semirings and their Applications in Mathematics and Information Sciences

Download or read book A Guide to the Literature on Semirings and their Applications in Mathematics and Information Sciences written by K. Glazek and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 394 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume presents a short guide to the extensive literature concerning semir ings along with a complete bibliography. The literature has been created over many years, in variety of languages, by authors representing different schools of mathematics and working in various related fields. In many instances the terminology used is not universal, which further compounds the difficulty of locating pertinent sources even in this age of the Internet and electronic dis semination of research results. So far there has been no single reference that could guide the interested scholar or student to the relevant publications. This book is an attempt to fill this gap. My interest in the theory of semirings began in the early sixties, when to gether with Bogdan W ~glorz I tried to investigate some algebraic aspects of compactifications of topological spaces, semirings of semicontinuous functions, and the general ideal theory for special semirings. (Unfortunately, local alge braists in Poland told me at that time that there was nothing interesting in investigating semiring theory because ring theory was still being developed). However, some time later we became aware of some similar investigations hav ing already been done. The theory of semirings has remained "my first love" ever since, and I have been interested in the results in this field that have been appearing in literature (even though I have not been active in this area myself).

Book Fuzzy Sets Fuzzy Logic And Fuzzy Systems Selected Papers By Lotfi A Zadeh

Download or read book Fuzzy Sets Fuzzy Logic And Fuzzy Systems Selected Papers By Lotfi A Zadeh written by George J Klir and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1996-05-30 with total page 842 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book consists of selected papers written by the founder of fuzzy set theory, Lotfi A Zadeh. Since Zadeh is not only the founder of this field, but has also been the principal contributor to its development over the last 30 years, the papers contain virtually all the major ideas in fuzzy set theory, fuzzy logic, and fuzzy systems in their historical context. Many of the ideas presented in the papers are still open to further development. The book is thus an important resource for anyone interested in the areas of fuzzy set theory, fuzzy logic, and fuzzy systems, as well as their applications. Moreover, the book is also intended to play a useful role in higher education, as a rich source of supplementary reading in relevant courses and seminars. The book contains a bibliography of all papers published by Zadeh in the period 1949-1995. It also contains an introduction that traces the development of Zadeh's ideas pertaining to fuzzy sets, fuzzy logic, and fuzzy systems via his papers. The ideas range from his 1965 seminal idea of the concept of a fuzzy set to ideas reflecting his current interest in computing with words — a computing in which linguistic expressions are used in place of numbers.Places in the papers, where each idea is presented can easily be found by the reader via the Subject Index.

Book Ten Lectures on Statistical and Structural Pattern Recognition

Download or read book Ten Lectures on Statistical and Structural Pattern Recognition written by M.I. Schlesinger and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 532 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Preface to the English edition This monograph Ten Lectur,es on Statistical and Structural Pattern Recognition uncovers the close relationship between various well known pattern recognition problems that have so far been considered independent. These relationships became apparent when formal procedures addressing not only known prob lems but also their generalisations were discovered. The generalised problem formulations were analysed mathematically and unified algorithms were found. The book unifies of two main streams ill pattern recognition-the statisti cal a11d structural ones. In addition to this bridging on the uppermost level, the book mentions several other unexpected relations within statistical and structural methods. The monograph is intended for experts, for students, as well as for those who want to enter the field of pattern recognition. The theory is built up from scratch with almost no assumptions about any prior knowledge of the reader. Even when rigorous mathematical language is used we make an effort to keep the text easy to comprehend. This approach makes the book suitable for students at the beginning of their scientific career. Basic building blocks are explained in a style of an accessible intellectual exercise, thus promoting good practice in reading mathematical text. The paradoxes, beauty, and pitfalls of scientific research are shown on examples from pattern recognition. Each lecture is amended by a discussion with an inquisitive student that elucidates and deepens the explanation, providing additional pointers to computational procedures and deep rooted errors.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This unique compendium presents the major methods of recognition and learning used in syntactic pattern recognition from the 1960s till 2018. Each method is introduced firstly in a formal way. Then, it is explained with the help of examples and its algorithms are described in a pseudocode. The survey of the applications contains more than 1,000 sources published since the 1960s. The open problems in the field, the challenges and the determinants of the future development of syntactic pattern recognition are discussed. This must-have volume provides a good read and serves as an excellent source of reference materials for researchers, academics, and postgraduate students in the fields of pattern recognition, machine perception, computer vision and artificial intelligence.

Book Readings in Fuzzy Sets for Intelligent Systems

Download or read book Readings in Fuzzy Sets for Intelligent Systems written by Didier J. Dubois and published by Morgan Kaufmann. This book was released on 2014-05-12 with total page 929 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Readings in Fuzzy Sets for Intelligent Systems is a collection of readings that explore the main facets of fuzzy sets and possibility theory and their use in intelligent systems. Basic notions in fuzzy set theory are discussed, along with fuzzy control and approximate reasoning. Uncertainty and informativeness, information processing, and membership, cognition, neural networks, and learning are also considered. Comprised of eight chapters, this book begins with a historical background on fuzzy sets and possibility theory, citing some forerunners who discussed ideas or formal definitions very close to the basic notions introduced by Lotfi Zadeh (1978). The reader is then introduced to fundamental concepts in fuzzy set theory, including symmetric summation and the setting of fuzzy logic; uncertainty and informativeness; and fuzzy control. Subsequent chapters deal with approximate reasoning; information processing; decision and management sciences; and membership, cognition, neural networks, and learning. Numerical methods for fuzzy clustering are described, and adaptive inference in fuzzy knowledge networks is analyzed. This monograph will be of interest to both students and practitioners in the fields of computer science, information science, applied mathematics, and artificial intelligence.
