Download or read book A Biblical Concordance on the Soul the Intermediate State and the Resurrection written by Rev. G. Waller and published by . This book was released on 2020-09-05 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A systematic and exhaustive word study of the Bible, analysing the Greek and Hebrew words translated as soul, the grave and hell. The author has documented the overwhelming Biblical evidence for death being an unconscious state. This is followed by a detailed analysis of Biblical references to resurrection and judgement occurring at Christ's second coming. Evidence from the various sources are used to reinforce the conclusion that resurrection, rather than any intermediate state, has always been the central hope of believers.

Book excerpt: What happens to the soul & spirit of unsaved people when they die? This refers to anyone who has not experienced spiritual regeneration through the gospel, which includes Old Testament saints. The Bible shows that the souls of these people go to (or went to) Sheol at the point of physical decease. Sheol corresponds to Hades. These souls will be resurrected from Sheol one day (Revelation 20:11-15), which is why Sheol/Hades is described as the "intermediate state" since it refers to the condition of unredeemed souls between physical death and later resurrection. So what's the state of souls in Sheol/Hades? Jesus' story of the rich man and Lazarus, if taken literally, suggests a conscious state where people either hang out in bliss with father Abraham or suffer constant fiery torment hoping for a mere drop of water for relief. SHEOL KNOW is an honest and thorough examination of the Scriptures to determine the precise nature of Sheol/Hades. Once you see what God's Word FULLY SAYS on the subject from Genesis to Revelation and not just a single tale that Jesus told, you'll see the truth and, as Christ said, "the truth shall set you FREE." This is the Condensed Version of SHEOL KNOW, which cuts out the excessive details and sticks to the compelling biblical evidence. Not only is it more straightforward and affordable, it's freshly edited to boot.

Download or read book The State of the Soul written by Phineas Blakeman and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-06-02 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The practice of using a story or proverb to illustrate a moral or religious point is as old as the written word. From Aesop's Fables to Goofus and Gallant, social rules and moral truths as well as insight are provided within the context and sub-context of stories written to address the basic reader and break through confusion. Rev. Phineas Blakeman uses this strategy to great effect in his book The State of the Soul: Between Death and the Resurrection. Using biblical passages to provide evidence that the soul remains conscious until the morning of the resurrection, the book begins with an interesting conversation between two characters described as possessing unusual piety and intelligence. One is a clergyman and the other a man passing through town. Although their meeting is mere happenstance, Blakeman sets the stage for the unfurling of a century-old philosophical debate and attempts to put the final nail in the coffin of indecision via his wit and insightful translation of biblical text. The man passing through town happens upon a church and searches out the local clergyman. He has lost his wife and three children; he has no friends, no family to speak of, is unhappy and has a lot of questions about life and death. The clergyman does his best to answer the man's questions and ultimately explores the soul's experience after the physical body has died. This exploration, with the use of key passages from the bible, illuminates Rev. Blakeman's main argument. Rev. Blakeman creates a well rounded examination of this dogmatic dilemma. Each chapter of The State of the Soul: Between Death and the Resurrection is key to solving the mystery of what happens to the soul after death. He explores myriad topics such as the existence of the conscious; the soul's existence in a disembodied state; where the soul resides between death and resurrection; the employments of the soul in the intermediate state; and the duration of the intermediate state. This book would be great for religious scholars, those interested in the topic of religion, new age philosophers, or any reader curious about religion or philosophical debate. Book On the Resurrection of the Dead

Download or read book On the Resurrection of the Dead written by James T. Turner, Jr. and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-09-03 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christian tradition has largely held three theological affirmations on the resurrection of the physical body. Firstly, that bodily resurrection is not a superfluous hope of afterlife. Secondly, there is immediate post-mortem existence in Paradise. Finally, there is numerical identity between pre-mortem and post-resurrection human beings. The same tradition also largely adheres to a robust doctrine of The Intermediate State, a paradisiacal disembodied state of existence following the biological death of a human being. This book argues that these positions are in fact internally inconsistent, and so a new theological model for life after death is required. The opening arguments of the book aim to show that The Intermediate State actually undermines the necessity of bodily resurrection. Additionally, substance dualism, a principle The Intermediate State requires, is shown to be equally untenable in this context. In response to this, the metaphysics of the afterlife in Christian theology is re-evaluated, and after investigating physicalist and constitutionist replacements for substance dualist metaphysics, a new theory called "Eschatological Presentism" is put forward. This model combines a broadly Thomistic hylemorphic metaphysics with a novel theory of Time. This is an innovative examination of the doctrine of life after death. It will, therefore, be of great interest to scholars of analytic theology and philosophy of religion.
