While one community wields discipleship, love, and evangelism toward online users (IMFish.net), the other aims to spread anarchy, hate, and targeted bullying, especially against the Christian institution (ATH). Subtly, throughout this collision, powerful forces of God's hand support and sustain the former community, while dark capacities (as inferred, psychological influences) infiltrate and guide the latter. As this epic battle takes shape, new truths and understandings are learned by all of the A Battle at the Fingertips characters about God's goal to marshal his loved ones (including those entrenched in evil) and about internet usage as a whole. A Battle at the Fingertips leaves its readers with a new understanding of four truths that all characters discover by the end of the novel: 1) The internet is a powerful tool for ministering to the isolated and lonely. 2) Social media members are largely made up of a society of individuals looking for a community to call their home, exactly the type of scenario Jesus looks to for the enhancement of His kingdom. In an age with diminishing front-porch gatherings and ice cream socials, people are now more isolated. These communities are providing an avenue for camaraderie, good and bad. 3) Any attempt to make an impact within the internet will always succeed at the grassroots level, a truth the protagonists learn from mistakes they make in their vision of creating an online ministry throughout the novel. 4) The fourth truth is the most profound. Some of the opposing evangelists and anarchists discover how similar to one another they are in their counterculture efforts. The ATH community is angry with IMFish.net because they feel oppressed by their ideals. IMFish.net member Aiden eventually convinces Howard, the leader of ATH, that Christians are persecuted outcasts too, are not of this world at all, and are oppressed mostly due to secular culture. This is when the ministry at the grassroots level takes place, one-on-one, via "chat dialogue format," in the novel's gripping climax.

Since the event itself (25 October 1415), Agincourt has occupied a special place in both English and French consciousness. Some early French writers could not bring themselves to mention it by name, using instead descriptions such as 'the accursed day'. For the English, it was one of the greatest military successes ever, and thus was celebrated and commemorated in many forms over the centuries which followed. In the First World War, there were stories of angelic Agincourt bowmen giving support and inspiration to the British army. Much ink has been spilt on the battle but do we really know Agincourt? Many historical works have relied on one or two well known sources or even on Shakespeare. Not since Harris Nicolas's History of the Battle of Agincourt was published (1827-33) has there been a full attempt to survey the sources. This book brings together, in translation and with commentary, English and French narrative accounts and literary works of the fifteenth century. It also traces the treatment of the battle in sixteenth -century English histories and in the literary output of, amongst others, Shakespeare and Drayton. After examining how later historians interpreted the battle, it concludes with the first full assessment of the extremely rich administrative records which survive for the armies which fought 'upon Saint Crispin's day'.

Book excerpt: In offering this book to the public after having had the manuscript actually on my desk for more than nine years, let me say frankly that no one realizes better than myself, now, the magnitude of the subject and the many faults of my attempt to handle it. My attention was first directed to the Sign Language in 1882 when I went to live in Western Manitoba. There I found it used among the various Indian tribes as a common language, whenever they were unable to understand each other's speech. In later years I found it a daily necessity when traveling among the natives of New Mexico and Montana, and in 1897, while living among the Crow Indians at their agency near Fort Custer, I met White Swan, who had served under General George A. Custer as a Scout. He had been sent across country with a message to Major Reno, so escaped the fatal battle; but fell in with a party of Sioux, by whom he was severely wounded, clubbed on the head, and left for dead. He recovered and escaped, but ever after was deaf and practically dumb. However, sign-talk was familiar to his people and he was at little disadvantage in daytime. Always skilled in the gesture code, he now became very expert; I was glad indeed to be his pupil, and thus in 1897 began seriously to study the Sign Language. In 1900 I included a chapter on Sign Language in my projected Woodcraft Dictionary, and began by collecting all the literature. There was much more than I expected, for almost all early travellers in our Western Country have had something to say about this lingua franca of the Plains. As the material continued to accumulate, the chapter grew into a Dictionary, and the work, of course, turned out manifold greater than was expected. The Deaf, our School children, and various European nations, as well as the Indians, had large sign vocabularies needing consideration.
