Download or read book Understanding International Trade Finance written by Akodere Mark Badmus (FCA) and published by . This book was released on 2021-02-14 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My desire to be of positive impact to my generation and to give back to the profession that has been of tremendous blessings to my career has inspired me to write this book Understanding International Trade Finance. Of my twenty-eight years in banking, I have been remarkably involved in Trade Finance in the last twenty years and I have identified the knowledge gap that exists in this specialized area of financial services and global trade at large. This book is based on my practical experiences of the last eighteen years across different geographies that has culminated in writing of this book in your hand. One intriguing personal experience in this field was that of a friend that travelled abroad and bought a car at an ex-works price and thought he had made a good bargain until about six months of waiting for the car to arrive from abroad but nothing turned up and he complained to me; I examined the documents and noticed that the invoice reads "ex-works." I told him that the price he paid for the car does not cover the cost of shipping the car and that it is his responsibility to arrange for this, then he realised it wasn't really a good bargain after all. Are you a importer, exporter, banker, students, trade finance practitioners, etc.? This book, Understanding International Trade Finance is a must read book for you. I would like to specially express my profound gratitude to my family for their love and supports in the course of writing this book. Also my colleagues and friends for their encouragements in the actualization of this project. Above all, I am sincerely thankful to God for the grace, courage, and strength for writing this book. Download or read book The Political Economy of International Trade written by Ken Heydon and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2019-11-12 with total page 313 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With protectionist sentiment and economic nationalism on the rise, international trade and how it is governed is at the heart of some of the most important contemporary economic and political debates. Comprehensive and clear, this book skilfully outlines and analyses the dynamics of trade in the 21st century. Ken Heydon examines three broad themes: the nature and distribution of the gains from trade, the institutional and governance framework of the international trade system, and the contentious practical issues confronting policy-makers across the world. He considers pressing contemporary debates surrounding issues ranging from agriculture and food security to the links between trade and environment protection, core labour standards and intellectual property rights. He demonstrates the importance of a change of mindset in terms of how we see trade policy: it should not, he argues, be simply a question of international negotiation, but also a key component of sound domestic economic management. In short, we need to put commerce in context. Drawing on the author’s experience as a policy practitioner, trade policy analyst and teacher, the volume is informed by an extensive analysis of the literature and by relevant case studies. It is designed for students and scholars of international political economy and trade policy, trade officials, and the general public.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the 21st century, most businesses participate in globalization, whether by entering new markets worldwide or dealing with competitors from around the world. In addition, the Internet and the accelerated evolution of related tools such as social media provide businesses, as well as individuals, the means to participate globally at an increasing pace. In order to identify profitable business opportunities and to recognize potential obstacles, one must have a complete picture of the global business environment. The Web and other Internet tools also give both new and traditional producers of information additional ways to deliver content to the end user, including interactive, web-based databases, digital files, or twitter updates—to name a few. Taking these trends into consideration, International Business Research: Strategies and Resources provides the basic tools that are useful for doing international business research. Following an introduction that outlines the foundation for international business activity— money, the international monetary system, and financial markets—subsequent chapters address: essential information such as sources, organizations, and websites that list resources for specific regions and countries; how to find international company information and financial data; the major classification schemes used to find relevant industry data, including import/export statistics; and international market and industry research. Each chapter of International Business Research includes research recommendations based upon the authors’ practical experiences and discusses the sources available to meet research needs, making this a valuable tool for anyone involved in the business world, particularly business school librarians, business students, and business professionals.
