Download or read book Give God a Year Change Your Life Forever written by Carole Lewis and published by Gospel Light Publications. This book was released on 2009-11-28 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First Place 4 Health has helped tens of thousands of people lose weight and bring balance to the four core areas of their lives: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. In this new title from Carole Lewis, First Place 4 Health’s national director, readers are challenged to “give God a year” to change them from the inside out. Change will happen over the course of 12 months, but the right changes only happen when we set the right goals and take the right steps to achieve them. Written with Carole’s signature warmth and humor, the book invites readers to dream big about the changes they long for in their lives and then offers practical, biblical, step by step guidance for how to see those dreams made into reality. In a culture of “right now,” a year may seem like an eternity. A year in the hands of God, however, means change that will last eternally.

Download or read book Out of Touch written by Michelle Drouin and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 2022-02-08 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A behavioral scientist explores love, belongingness, and fulfillment, focusing on how modern technology can both help and hinder our need to connect. A Next Big Idea Club nominee. Millions of people around the world are not getting the physical, emotional, and intellectual intimacy they crave. Through the wonders of modern technology, we are connecting with more people more often than ever before, but are these connections what we long for? Pandemic isolation has made us even more alone. In Out of Touch, Professor of Psychology Michelle Drouin investigates what she calls our intimacy famine, exploring love, belongingness, and fulfillment and considering why relationships carried out on technological platforms may leave us starving for physical connection. Drouin puts it this way: when most of our interactions are through social media, we are taking tiny hits of dopamine rather than the huge shots of oxytocin that an intimate in-person relationship would provide. Drouin explains that intimacy is not just sex—although of course sex is an important part of intimacy. But how important? Drouin reports on surveys that millennials (perhaps distracted by constant Tinder-swiping) have less sex than previous generations. She discusses pandemic puppies, professional cuddlers, the importance of touch, “desire discrepancy” in marriage, and the value of friendships. Online dating, she suggests, might give users too many options; and the internet facilitates “infidelity-related behaviors.” Some technological advances will help us develop and maintain intimate relationships—our phones, for example, can be bridges to emotional support. Some, on the other hand, might leave us out of touch. Drouin explores both of these possibilities.

Download or read book Their Names Shall Live Forever More written by Trevor Jardine and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2023-07-25 with total page 377 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a thorough and thought provoking account of the first year of existence of the 60th Australian Infantry Battalion. Interspersed with Divisional, Brigade and other Battalion’s perspectives are the personal views of officers and other ranks relating to events and places. Included in the story is an investigation into a previously untold account of a group of soldiers called the “Needle Trench 10” who were killed by a single artillery shell on the 26th November 1916. For more than 100 years the identity of one of these soldiers, buried in the Guards’ Cemetery at Lesboeufs, France, has been lost to time. A document, filed in the archives of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission in Maidenhead, England, for over 100 years and only coming to light in 2021, has finally enabled this soldier’s possible identity to be established. Also revealed in the same document is the initial burial location of another soldier, wounded by the same artillery shell, and dying later that day whilst on his way to receive medical treatment. Woven throughout the book are the human stories of the battalion’s soldiers, including biographies of those killed on the 26th November, with many of the details provided by the descendants of these soldiers. The investigation details how a simple “bookkeeping” entry resulted in families, and descendants of ten of the eleven soldiers who died on the 26th November, being provided incorrect details concerning their deaths. This error has been perpetuated in official documents, publications, online resources, and inscribed in stone since this time.

Download or read book Forever Stardust written by Will Brooker and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2017-01-30 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most of the many books about David Bowie track his artistic 'changes' chronologically throughout his career. This book, uniquely, examines Bowie's 'sameness': his recurring themes, images, motifs and concepts as an artist, across all his creative work, from lyrics and music through to costumes, storyboards, films, plays and painting. To be published on Bowie's 70th birthday, Forever Stardust looks at Bowie's work not as a linear evolution through calendar time, to his tragic death in January 2016, but as a matrix, a dialogue, a network of ideas that echo back and forth across the five decades of his career, interacting with each other and with the surrounding culture. It explores Bowie's creative output as a whole, tracing the repetitions and obsessions that structure his work, discovering what they tell us about Bowie in all his forms, from Ziggy Stardust to David Jones.David Bowie challenged cultural expectations from the early 1970s until his final masterpiece, Blackstar. Forever Stardust offers a new understanding of this remarkable & significant artist.
Download or read book Every Day Forever written by Molly Mattocks and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2023-09-14 with total page 437 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Every Day, Forever is a collection of letters written from a mother to her young daughter after her passing. Written in real time, the letters chronicle Mattocks’day-to-day journey during her first two years of grief. With grace and poise, Mattocks boldly refuses to accept that grief is a season of getting over pain, but instead insists grief is a season of getting used to it. As heartwarming as it is heartbreaking, the letters paint a picture that anyone who has experienced deep loss can find themselves in. Every Day, Forever serves as a powerful reminder for us all. That we can have hearts that are broken and still love. Have dreams that were shattered and still live. And we can be grateful for what we were given and still grieve for what we weren’t.
