Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Witty and softly sardonic, William Schiffs autobiographical romp describes his lifelong travels from early childhood to the Golden Years. Growing Up and Getting Old Behind the Wheel: An American Auto Biography is framed in a web of Americana, including cars he has ridden in, driven, modified, and even stolen. The span of his story is peppered with allusions to the locales, books, films, music, and social politics of the times he has experienced. He describes his youthful descent with friends into light criminalityhis incarceration, and his ultimate salvation and redemption through America's universities, rather than through its Churches. He sketches his menial jobs as a youth, as well as his later roles as student, university professor, parent, behavioral scientist, and retiree. If youve lived in America between 1940 and today, youll want to come along on the engrossing scenic drive through his vivid memories.

Book A Helping Hand

Download or read book A Helping Hand written by LaMoine "Bill" Moll and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2020-03-20 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book illustrates how someone living in a small town can still have a lot to contribute to his community, his country, and even the world. The author, Bill Moll, has lived in the small town of Shannon, Illinois, with a population of eight hundred his entire life, but has come in contact with many people in all parts of the world. He has been a friend and played basketball with a former Harlem Globetrotter and has had some phone calls from the Whitehouse while Ronald Reagan was president. The New York Times even sent a reporter to his hometown of Shannon to interview him in the 1970s. Those are only a few examples of his very interesting life. The author and his family have begun a scholarship fund to help deserving students as well as other people they believe need a little help in their lives. Bill and his wife have been honored by their little village, including heading their Labor Day parade and being their Grand Marshal in 2018. Bill Moll has farmed all his adult life, but this book is definitely not about farming. Even though he has often been written up by farm magazines and on their covers, you will find as you read this book he really did not want to farm. He wanted to work in a bank. He never regretted his decision to farm, however, and contributed to his community as well as to many people outside of his community as he reached out to everyone. He has experienced many wonderful times in his life but has been touched by tragedy too. He admits he hasn't handled everything as well as he could have. Mr. Moll is now eighty-three years old, and there is a lot to be learned from his mistakes as well as his successes.

Download or read book But God Had Other Plans written by Bill Jackson and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-10-12 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The primary purpose of this book is to emphasize by my life's example the fact that God is real, that he does still exist today, and that he does still call men and women for specific purposes today, just as he has done throughout history. My writing these memoirs was inspired by a sermon I heard in February 2012. The point of the sermon was that everyone had a testimony. Well, I had never thought that I had a testimony. I jokingly told the pastor that if I had a testimony, it would take a book to tell it! Never in my entire life prior to 2012 did I ever think about or believe that I would write a book. But God placed it on my heart, and as I began writing notes, the more I wrote, the more that came to my mind to write. Also, I wanted to emphasize the fact that you never get too old to serve God. There are many examples throughout the Bible about people in various circumstances whom God has chosen for specific tasks. I was seventy-seven years old when I began writing this book and eighty-seven at its completion. I wanted to emphasize that you do not age out in your service to God. God has used old people to accomplish his purpose through history, and he still does today. In regard to the book's title, But God Had Other Plans, throughout life, it seemed almost every time I planned to do something, God would lead me in another direction. Also, the saying "But God" is mentioned many times throughout the Bible.

In 1974, we made the difficult decision to leave the Catholic Church, and have been actively involved in Bible Churches ever since. Who would believe our schedule? We participated in every type of volunteer service available, including: basketball and soccer coach, Girl Scout leader, Sunday school teachers, and always time for family dinners. Barb was a stay-at-home mom, and eventually achieved an Interior Design degree. I worked for one employer for almost 50 years, which included five different companies, and positions from Apprentice to Director. Now comes our together time. In 1985, Barb started to accompany me on business travel trips. We have traveled extensively: Europe, Canada, Alaska, Mexico, Caribbean, China, Russia and South Africa. Along the way, we have owned 36 automobiles, one truck and one motorcycle. Please come along for the ride of our lifetimes; we hope that you will enjoy it half as much as we have!
