Yes, that is right, you may reach a dead end, and I plan to help you NOT to have invested 80% of your time, to reach 20% of probability meeting your goal when instead you went down a rabbit hole, it can happen, I have been there, but not too often because I adopted the MO and stuck with it. Perhaps you will retire from the process once the need is met. Firstly, we need to have a shared understanding of what is a ‘need’? What are your needs throughout this journey? And always, always, refer back to this need as your ‘Bearings’ which I will explain further under the chapter Bearings. A need is when you have a problem or an opportunity to be addressed. There is a requirement that you trace back your ancestry to further understand your identity, to connect with other distant relatives, or to respond to a need to complete your family tree, or to obtain value that is the importance or usefulness it may provide you. The ‘journey’ is the process you will undertake as you navigate around your ‘Structured MO’, as you continue through the development of a solution and ends when a solution has presented itself. The ‘Structured MO’ is a cycle of steps that I advise you to use, I will explain this further in the chapter Structured MO. There are dedicated chapters devoted to interpreting Qu Yuan’s poem Asking Heaven (Tian Wen), the mythical book The Legends of Mountains & Seas (Shan Hai Jing), geography book Lord Yu’s Tributes (Yu Gong), and Zhou King Muwang’s Travelogue (Mu-tian-zi Zhuan). The book has appendices of two calendars: the first anterior quarter remainder calendar (247 B.C.-104 B.C./247 B.C.-85 A.D.) of the Qin Empire, as well as a conversion table of the sexagenary years of the virtual Yin-li (Shang dynasty) quarter remainder calendar versus the Gregorian calendar, that covers the years 2698 B.C. to 2018 A.D. Book I stops about the midpoint of the 242 years covered in Confucius’ abridged book The Spring & Autumn Annals (722-481 B.C.). Book II stops at Han Emperor Zhangdi (Liu Da, reign A.D. 76-88; actual reign Aug of A.D. 75-Feb of A.D. 88), with the A.D. 85 adoption of the Sifen-li posterior quarter remainder calendar premised on reverting to the sexagenary years of the virtual Yin-li (Shang dynasty) quarter remainder calendar, a calendar disconnected from the Jupiter’s chronogram, that was purportedly invented by the Confucians on basis of Confucius’ identifying the ‘qi-lin’ divine giraffe animal and wrapping up the masterpiece The Spring & Autumn Annals two years prior to death.

The book offers a readable history of the special lineage institutions for which south China has been noted and argues that these institutions fostered the mechanisms that enabled south China to be absorbed into the imperial Chinese state—first, by introducing rituals that were acceptable to the state, and second, by providing mechanisms that made group ownership of property feasible and hence made it possible to pool capital for land reclamation projects important to the state. Just as taxation, defense, and recognition came together with the emergence of powerful lineages in the sixteenth century, their disintegration in the late nineteenth century signaled the beginnings of a new Chinese state.
