Book Proceedings of the International Renewable Energy Storage Conference IRES 2022

Download or read book Proceedings of the International Renewable Energy Storage Conference IRES 2022 written by Peter Schossig and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-05-25 with total page 585 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is an open access book.Energy storage systems are the key to the successful energy transition to full renewable energy supply and are more relevant today than ever before. They address numerous challenges of the energy transition at once: stabilise the electricity grids, support the shutdown of power plants, make regionally generated electricity available locally and compensate for fluctuations in renewable energy generation. For more than 15 years now, EUROSOLAR has dedicated the annual International Conference on Renewable Energy Storage (IRES) to this important topic. The conference, which has been organised in partnership with Messe Düsseldorf since 2015, addressed the current state of research and the social, political and legal framework conditions of energy storage technologies from 20 to 22 September 2022, as part of its exhibitions on decarbonised industries. In up to three parallel series of lectures, experts from science, practice, politics and society focused on the current state of knowledge about energy storage. In recent years, more than 4000 visitors attended Energy Storage Europe, the predecessor of Messe Düsseldorf’s decarbXpo and IRES, each year. In plenary sessions, topic-specific lecture series and discussion rounds, around 150 lectures were presented including a large poster exhibition. We look forward to welcoming you to the 17th IRES in 2023.

Book Economics of Distributed Storage Systems

Download or read book Economics of Distributed Storage Systems written by Klaus-Henning Ahlert and published by KIT Scientific Publishing. This book was released on 2014-08-14 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Increasing the shares of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) and Distributed Energy Resources (DER) is one of the most important levers in many countries to cope with the environmental, political, and economic challenges of future energy supply. The underlying research question of this thesis is whether Distributed Storage Systems (DSS) at the end consumer level can economically foster the integration of intermittent and non-dispatchable resources by providing demand-side flexibility.

Book Thermal Energy

Download or read book Thermal Energy written by Yatish T. Shah and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-01-12 with total page 1112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book details sources of thermal energy, methods of capture, and applications. It describes the basics of thermal energy, including measuring thermal energy, laws of thermodynamics that govern its use and transformation, modes of thermal energy, conventional processes, devices and materials, and the methods by which it is transferred. It covers 8 sources of thermal energy: combustion, fusion (solar) fission (nuclear), geothermal, microwave, plasma, waste heat, and thermal energy storage. In each case, the methods of production and capture and its uses are described in detail. It also discusses novel processes and devices used to improve transfer and transformation processes.

Book Energy Storage

Download or read book Energy Storage written by Gerard M Crawley and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2017-06-19 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Anyone wanting to learn quickly about the latest developments in energy storage should read this book. It provides enough technical depth for the reader to understand the advantages and limitations of the various storage methods, and sufficient references to enable the reader to dig more deeply into the technical details.'IEEE Journals & MagazinesThe subject of energy storage is extremely important for the increased utilization of renewable energies such as solar and wind energy in times when their sources (e.g. the sun and wind) are unavailable. The ability to store energy can also level out the demand curve for electricity and thus lead to a decrease in the peak requirements of energy production. A storage system for ground transportation is also important as a potential replacement for fossil fuel powered transportation.Energy Storage offers a comprehensive look at the possible approaches to energy storage, which are relevant to various situations; from smoothing demand in electrical energy production, applications of energy storage, to transportation. The book covers a variety of approaches to the storage of energy. Beginning with a discussion of the critical importance of energy storage, the book discusses various possible storage options including hydro storage, compressed air energy storage, and electrical and chemical storage in batteries, capacitors and fuel cells. There is also a chapter on the mechanical storage of energy with flywheels using advanced materials. The various applications to power production and transportation are also included. The expertise and active involvement of the authors of the various chapters ensures that the information is reliable, current, and forward looking.
