Download or read book 46 Folk Songs for the Bowed Psaltery written by Jm Bolton and published by International Digital Book Publishing, Incorporated. This book was released on 2021-09-20 with total page 84 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the things I did to pay my way through college was to entertain at coffee houses, playing the guitar and singing folk songs. Many of the songs in the collection are old favorites that were in my repertoire. While I sang a lot of songs from the English-speaking countries, I especially loved finding tunes from other countries. Many those songs have found their way into this book. Then, when I finally put the book together with 45 songs, there was a space left over just big enough to add one more song. So, I did! The songs are arranged as solos, duets, and rounds. As well as notes for the psaltery, lyrics and guitar chords are included for many of the tunes. This collection includes: Anile Anile Vaa Vaa Vaa, Avenging and Bright, Ba Huangshan Biachen Fu, The Blackest Crow, Blow Away the Morning Dew, Bottom of the Punchbowl, Branle de Bourgogne, Ciocarlanul - The Lark, Come All Fair & Tender Maidens, Come Dance and Sing, Corcorans Cross, Early One Morning, Flowers of Edinburgh, For Ireland I'll not Tell Her NameFour Marys, The Gentle Maiden, The Great Silky of Sule Skerry, Green Broom, Hatikvah - The Hope, The House Carpenter, How Can I Keep from Singing?, Huron Carol - 'Twas in the Midst of Wintertide, Jasmine Flower, Jubilate Deo Omnis, Kathleen O'Moore, Korobeiniki, Land of Our Fathers, Lord Thomas of Winesberry, Mairi's Wedding, Mallibrok, Michael Row the Boat Ashore, The Minstrel Boy, Mo Ghile Mear, Mo Li Hua - Jasmine Flower, Moscow Nights, Muss I Denn, Never Weather-Beaten Sail, Odzidani - Expectation Waltz, Piri Miri Dictum Domini, Sakura - Cherry Blossoms, Sara Sara, Three Ravens, Water is Wide, Whistling Gypsy, Yslwffyl - The Doorknocker, Yuki - Snow Song.

Book excerpt: Glory be to God on high, and thanksgiving, and the voice of praise, who at one time by the mysteries of prophecy, at another by oracles from Heaven, again by the reading of the Gospel, and now by the mouth of preachers, in many ways and by divers channels, most sincerely urges and invites us to honor the Virgin Mary, the Queen of Heaven and of the Angels; that by her holy merits, most worthy of all acceptance, we, being delivered from the depths of hell, may be inscribed by her in the ranks of the angels. Download or read book The Science of String Instruments written by Thomas D. Rossing and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-12-15 with total page 469 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thomas D. Rossing String instruments are found in almost all musical cultures. Bowed string instruments form the backbone of symphony orchestras, and they are used widely as solo inst- ments and in chamber music as well. Guitars are used universally in pop music as well as in classical music. The piano is probably the most versatile of all musical inst- ments, used widely not only in ensemble with other musical instruments but also as a solo instrument and to accompany solo instruments and the human voice. In this book, various authors will discuss the science of plucked, bowed, and hammered string instruments as well as their electronic counterparts. We have tried to tell the fascinating story of scienti?c research with a minimum of mathematics to maximize the usefulness of the book to performers and instrument builders as well as to students and researchers in musical acoustics. Sometimes, however, it is dif?cult to “translate” ideas from the exact mathematical language of science into words alone, so we include some basic mathematical equations to express these ideas. It is impossible to discuss all families of string instruments. Some instruments have been researched much more than others. Hopefully, the discussions in this book will help to encourage further scienti?c research by both musicians and scientists alike. 1.1 A Brief History of the Science of String Instruments Quite a number of good histories of acoustics have been written (Lindsay 1966, 1973; Hunt 1992; Beyer 1999), and these histories include musical acoustics.
