Book The Art Thief

Download or read book The Art Thief written by Michael Finkel and published by Knopf Canada. This book was released on 2023-06-27 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NEW YORK TIMES BEST SELLER • One of the most remarkable true-crime narratives of the twenty-first century: the story of the world’s most prolific art thief, Stéphane Breitwieser. • “The Art Thief, like its title character, has confidence, élan, and a great sense of timing."—The New Yorker "Enthralling." —The Wall Street Journal In this spellbinding portrait of obsession and flawed genius, the best-selling author of The Stranger in the Woods brings us into Breitwieser’s strange world—unlike most thieves, he never stole for money, keeping all his treasures in a single room where he could admire them. For centuries, works of art have been stolen in countless ways from all over the world, but no one has been quite as successful at it as the master thief Stéphane Breitwieser. Carrying out more than two hundred heists over nearly eight years—in museums and cathedrals all over Europe—Breitwieser, along with his girlfriend who worked as his lookout, stole more than three hundred objects, until it all fell apart in spectacular fashion. In The Art Thief, Michael Finkel brings us into Breitwieser’s strange and fascinating world. Unlike most thieves, Breitwieser never stole for money. Instead, he displayed all his treasures in a pair of secret rooms where he could admire them to his heart’s content. Possessed of a remarkable athleticism and an innate ability to circumvent practically any security system, Breitwieser managed to pull off a breathtaking number of audacious thefts. Yet these strange talents bred a growing disregard for risk and an addict’s need to score, leading Breitwieser to ignore his girlfriend’s pleas to stop—until one final act of hubris brought everything crashing down. This is a riveting story of art, crime, love, and an insatiable hunger to possess beauty at any cost.

Book Crapitalism

Download or read book Crapitalism written by Michael Faust and published by Magus Books. This book was released on with total page 1125 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Even more than an economic system, capitalism is a psychological instrument for manipulating and exploiting gullible, credulous, suggestible human beings. It's about working out what makes you tick in order to sell you more stuff. Capitalism's task isn't to make you a perfect person, but merely a perfect consumer. Capitalism is purely about enriching those with capital. It's about the Profit Principle. Not only is it strictly amoral, it turns out to be an ideal vehicle for empowering psychopaths. Capitalism is a psychological experiment conducted economically. Those conducting the experiment are the super rich elite, committed to dynastic rule of the world via "free-market" globalism. John Maynard Keynes said, "Capitalism is the extraordinary belief that the nastiest of men for the nastiest of motives will somehow work for the benefit of all." That's capitalism in a nutshell. You need to be mad to believe that capitalism will have a good outcome for the human race.

Book Government Secrets and Cover ups

Download or read book Government Secrets and Cover ups written by John P. Hunter III and published by John P. Hunter III. This book was released on 2014-07-30 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: GOVERNMENT COVER-UPS Why on earth would I dare write a shocking book as this one? The simplest explanations, people ALL over the world are naïve and ignorant to what conspires within their own government or of religion, for that matter. These two words dominate people’s thoughts everywhere. What it boils down to is, the nature of the human race believes that “what they do not know will not hurt them”. I have to disagree with this philosophy because it can hurt you and even kill you. This is what MOST governments rely on, for people to disbelieve, what is the real truth? Lies are more profitable and who will believe the truth anyway? The truth seems to come out of a science fiction novel. Propaganda rules because the public refuses to believe that this is not the ninetieth or twentieth century anymore. There are new inventions of warfare that most have never heard of. A large amount of ground troops and bombings are becoming obsolete because of laser cannons, robots and the “High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program” (HAARP} project. What better ways to exterminate the over-population then blame it on the weather so the government gets away with “legalized MURDER”? WHY is it so hard to understand or believe, when in reality, people believe in sasquatches (Big Foot), Yeti, abdominal snowman, UFO’s, ghost or even living zombies because of panic but they deny government conspiracies? More advanced countries in technology consider “Oriental Countries” as being expendable, to be used as human guinea pigs. Everybody just witnessed this from the typhoon ‘Yolanda in the Philippines, November 8, 2013, before that an Indonesia earthquake followed by a large tidal wave and then a Japan catastrophe. WAKE UP before you become the casualty or of your own family. It is getting worse every day. It is getting worse every year; most do not care or are oblivious to the facts so get educated to reality.

  • Author : Bart Rask
  • Publisher : Universal-Publishers
  • Release : 2021-09-01
  • ISBN : 1627343350
  • Pages : 322 pages

Download or read book The Evolution Delusion written by Bart Rask and published by Universal-Publishers. This book was released on 2021-09-01 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Does the field of evolution differ from other sciences? The author, a reviewer for a major medical journal, scrutinized hundreds of scientific references in evolutionary literature, adopting the same standards used for studies submitted for medical publication. The data show that there are two types of evolution, microevolution and macroevolution, with a clear boundary between them based upon the presence and absence of empirical evidence, respectively. The surprising results show that there is a universal disconnect between the data and the conclusions that claim to show the larger changes of macroevolution. The author reveals patterns of deviations from standard scientific methods in these studies. For the first time, evolutionary data have been summarized to describe both what evolution can and cannot accomplish. The author shows the reader how to recognize the different ways in which the evidence for microevolution within and between some species differs from the unsupported macroevolution of most species. Previous critiques of macroevolution have been debunked by advocates who have cited a multitude of scientific studies. This book goes beyond previous critiques by directly addressing the data from these studies to see if they do, in fact, support macroevolution-focused conclusions. Many expert counterarguments against this book’s thesis are presented and examined in the context of scientific research to reassure the reader that the author has left no stone unturned in the macroevolution debate. A theory is proposed as to why there may be no empirical evidence for macroevolution. The book concludes with a section entitled “What we see differently.” There, the author shows the reader the differences in perspective between the evolutionist and macroevolution critic as they look at and interpret the very same set of data.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Anthony M. Amore and Tom Mashberg's Stealing Rembrandts is a spellbinding journey into the high-stakes world of art theft Today, art theft is one of the most profitable criminal enterprises in the world, exceeding $6 billion in losses to galleries and art collectors annually. And the masterpieces of Rembrandt van Rijn are some of the most frequently targeted. In Stealing Rembrandts, art security expert Anthony M. Amore and award-winning investigative reporter Tom Mashberg reveal the actors behind the major Rembrandt heists in the last century. Through thefts around the world - from Stockholm to Boston, Worcester to Ohio - the authors track daring entries and escapes from the world's most renowned museums. There are robbers who coolly walk off with multimillion dollar paintings; self-styled art experts who fall in love with the Dutch master and desire to own his art at all costs; and international criminal masterminds who don't hesitate to resort to violence. They also show how museums are thwarted in their ability to pursue the thieves - even going so far as to conduct investigations on their own, far away from the maddening crowd of police intervention, sparing no expense to save the priceless masterpieces. Stealing Rembrandts is an exhilarating, one-of-a-kind look at the black market of art theft, and how it compromises some of the greatest treasures the world has ever known.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For centuries the world has been misled about the original source of the Arts and Sciences; for centuries Socrates, Plato and Aristotle have been falsely idolized as models of intellectual greatness; and for centuries the African continent has been called the Dark Continent, because Europe coveted the honor of transmitting to the world, the Arts and Sciences. It is indeed surprising how, for centuries, the Greeks have been praised by the Western World for intellectual accomplishments which belong without a doubt to the Egyptians or the peoples of North Africa.
