Book Caring for Horses With a Servant s Heart

Download or read book Caring for Horses With a Servant s Heart written by Sheri Grunska and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2014-12-21 with total page 396 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I have written a daily devotional for the horse professional and the horse lover in all of us. This book will make your day better before you go out to the barn to do chores or work with horses. You will never look at your barn chores or riding your horses in the same way ever again. I now see the Lord in everything on our farm from watching the horses play outside to carrying fifty lb. bags of grain and cleaning stalls and finding joy in it. I think of him now in how I talk with my clients and how I run our barn. I have written this yearlong daily devotional to inspire you and make you laugh and even tear up at times. This devotional book will make you look at horses in a whole new way. It sure did for me as I was writing this book. Running a horse business or owning horses for pleasure can be great and at times it can be tough at times. I have written 366 days (yes, I've included February 29th) of stories and experiences of owning horses and working with horses and admiring horses for all they are. Each story and experience brings me back to the Lord and shows me how my life relates to everything that I do on our horse farm and in every horse I work with. At the end of each day and story is a bible verse that I truly believe relates to what the story is talking about. The more I dug deep into all that happens with horses through out their life the more I saw God in all of it. As I was writing this book I became more and more lifted up with each story I put down on paper. I pray this book will lift you up each day before you head out to the barn or give you a peace after a long day working with horses. I hope to give you a renewed excitement for all that you can be in the world of horses.

Book excerpt: When life races with chaos and uncertainty, run beyond your fear with bold faith. Humanly speaking, we are no match for a horse's strength or speed. But “the hand of the Lord came upon Elijah,” and the prophet was able to outrun Ahab's royal chariot on the long streak from Mount Carmel to Jezreel (1 Kings 18). In the same way, personal relationship with Almighty God inspires and empowers us to accomplish great exploits we never thought possible and, like Elijah, to deliver something of prophetic value to the culture and the world. Running with Horses is a volume of daily writings exhorting every individual this way—to expect impossible outcomes, even supernatural interventions. Inspired this way, when the pace speeds up in the sphere to which you are called, you run ahead of anything believed possible. Like all of creation, you were born with a specific design and purpose. Yours, I am convinced, is for this no-holds-barred day, for this prophetic time. Whether days of peace or trouble, you were born for this time.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Jeremiah 12:5 God says to the prophet, "If you're worn out in this footrace with men, what makes you think you can race against horses?" We all long to live life at its best—to fuse freedom and spontaneity with purpose and meaning. Why then do we often find our lives so humdrum, so unadventuresome, so routine? Or else so frantic, full of activity, but still devoid of fulfillment? How do we learn to risk, to trust, to pursue wholeness and excellence—to run with the horses instead of shuffling along with the crowd? In a series of profound reflections on the life of Jeremiah the prophet, Eugene Peterson explores the heart of what it means to be fully and genuinely human. In his signature pastoral style, he invites readers to grasp the biblical truth that each person's story of faith is completely original. Peterson's writing is filled with humor and self-reflection, insight and wisdom, helping to set a course for others in the quest for life at its best. This special commemorative edition includes a new preface taken from Eric Peterson's homily at his father's memorial service.

Download or read book Your God is Too Glorious written by Chad Bird and published by New Reformation Publications. This book was released on 2023-11-14 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most of us are regular people who have good days and bad days. Our lives are radically ordinary and unexciting. That means they're the kind of lives God gets excited about. While the world worships beauty and power and wealth, God hides his glory in the simple, the mundane, the foolish, working in unawesome people, things, and places. In our day of celebrity worship and online posturing, this is a refreshing, even transformative way of understanding God and our place in his creation. It urges us to treasure a life of simplicity, to love those whom the world passes by, to work for God's glory rather than our own. And it demonstrates that God has always been the Lord of the cross--a Savior who hides his grace in unattractive, inglorious places.Your God Is Too Glorious reminds readers that while a quiet life may look unimpressive to the world, it's the regular, everyday people that God tends to use to do his most important work.

Book excerpt: The most comprehensive single volume dedicated to horses, The Original Horse Bible is a celebration of the long relationship that humans and horses enjoy, written by two highly regarded horsewomen, the late Moira C. Allen and Sharon Biggs. This 480-page volume, elaborately illustrated by world-renowned horse photographer Bob Langrish, is divided into eleven sections, covering topics that span the world of horses, from evolution and domestication to horse riding, training, competitions and more.Section 1: "History, Physiology, and Behavior" discusses the natural history of the horse, including adaption, migration, and domestication, how horses became integral to human kind, the role of horses in society (war horses, law-enforcement horses, race horses), as well as animal welfare and the plight of wild and feral horses. The anatomy and physiology of the horse are detailed in discussions of the horse's bodily systems, structure, senses, gait/movement, and coat and color patterns. In terms of behavior, the authors discuss the life cycle of the horse and reproduction, intelligence and trainability, and horse mentality and natural instincts. In Section 2: "Breeds and Types," the authors trace the evolution of modern horse types from three known ancient ancestors and archaic types and extinct breeds. They describe the modern types of horses based on their particular looks and specific uses (Baroque, Cob, Hack, Hunter, Polo Pony and so forth). A detailed discussion of horse color follows, explaining the differences between each and what specific characteristics define each (buckskin, palomino, and pinto). The extensive breed chapter offers portraits of approximately 175 breeds, alphabetically arranged, from the Abaco Barb to the Welsh Pony, including many rare and handsome breeds from around the world as well as favorites like the American Quarter Horse, the Shetland Pony and the Thoroughbred. Main entries provide alternative names, region of origins, brief history, and physical descriptions for each breed. Sidebars called "Breed in Brief" offer concise overviews of the lesser known breeds. The popular hobby of horse riding is the focus of Section 3: "Activities with Horses," which describes English, western, and driving competition as well as rodeo, competitive trail riding, vaulting, polo, and other horse sports. Section 7: "Rider Instruction" continues the discussion on riding with chapters on riding instructions, safety and fitness as well as English and western riding skills. In Section 4: "A New Horse" and Section 5 "Horsekeeping," the Bible becomes a primer for all horse owners offering detailed information about choosing the right horse for novice riders, families, and experienced riders and purchasing the horse and the proper equipment (saddles and bridles, boots, gear, and gadgets). The section concludes with chapters on transporting horses, stabling and boarding, and feeding and grooming.
