Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The ACIS 3D Geometric Modeler is a collection of software components that provide programmers with commercially supported libraries of code for representing and manipulating shapes. Because of its open, object-oriented, design the system can be easily integrated with other software and forms the geometric core of many well-known CAD systems. It is also widely used in universities around the world for both teaching and research. The book is packed with information and examples that will help new and experienced users to produce applications which fully exploit the functionality available. In addition to providing code for numerous examples (in C++ or Scheme), it also provides background theory and information which helps users gain an appreciation of the system's internal workings.

Book Geometric Modeling and Reasoning of Human Centered Freeform Products

Download or read book Geometric Modeling and Reasoning of Human Centered Freeform Products written by Charlie C. L. Wang and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-08-11 with total page 231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The recent trend in user-customized product design requires the shape of products to be automatically adjusted according to the human body’s shape, so that people will feel more comfortable when wearing these products. Geometric approaches can be used to design the freeform shape of products worn by people, which can greatly improve the efficiency of design processes in various industries involving customized products (e.g., garment design, toy design, jewel design, shoe design, and design of medical devices, etc.). These products are usually composed of very complex geometric shapes (represented by free-form surfaces), and are not driven by a parameter table but a digital human model with free-form shapes or part of human bodies (e.g., wrist, foot, and head models). Geometric Modeling and Reasoning of Human-Centered Freeform Products introduces the algorithms of human body reconstruction, freeform product modeling, constraining and reconstructing freeform products, and shape optimization for improving the manufacturability of freeform products. Based on these techniques, the design automation problem for human-centered freeform products can be fundamentally solved. Researchers and developers working on problems of automatic designing individually customized products can use this book as a reference, and it can also be used in courses in computer-aided product design at the graduate level.

Book Advanced Design and Manufacturing Based on STEP

Download or read book Advanced Design and Manufacturing Based on STEP written by Xun Xu and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-09-29 with total page 495 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Design and manufacturing is the essential element in any product development lifecycle. Industry vendors and users have been seeking a common language to be used for the entire product development lifecycle that can describe design, manufacturing and other data pertaining to the product. Many solutions were proposed, the most successful being the Stadndard for Exchange of Product model (STEP). STEP provides a mechanism that is capable of describing product data, independent from any particular system. The nature of this description makes it suitable not only for neutral file exchange, but also as a basis for implementing, sharing and archiving product databases. ISO 10303-AP203 is the first and perhaps the most successful AP developed to exchange design data between different CAD systems. Going from geometric data (as in AP203) to features (as in AP224) represents an important step towards having the right type of data in a STEP-based CAD/CAM system. Of particular significance is the publication of STEP-NC, as an extension of STEP to NC, utilising feature-based concepts for CNC machining purposes. The aim of this book is to provide a snapshot of the recent research outcomes and implementation cases in the field of design and manufacturing where STEP is used as the primary data representation protocol. The 20 chapters are contributed by authors from most of the top research teams in the world. These research teams are based in national research institutes, industries as well as universities.

Book Error controlled Adaptive Finite Elements in Solid Mechanics

Download or read book Error controlled Adaptive Finite Elements in Solid Mechanics written by Ekkehard Ramm and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2003-08-01 with total page 422 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Finite Element Methods are used for numerous engineering applications where numerical solutions of partial differential equations are needed. As computers can now deal with the millions of parameters used in these methods, automatic error estimation and automatic adaptation of the utilised method (according to this error estimation), has become a hot research topic. This text offers comprehensive coverage of this new field of automatic adaptation and error estimation, bringing together the work of eight outstanding researchers in this field who have completed a six year national research project within the German Science Foundation. The result is a state-of-the-art work in true reference style. Each chapter is self-contained and covers theoretical, algorithmic and software presentations as well as solved problems. A main feature consists of several carefully elaborated benchmarks of 2D- and 3D- applications. * First book to go beyond the Finite Element Method in itself * Covers material from a new research area * Presents benchmarks of 2D- and 3D- applications * Fits with the new trend for genetic strategies in engineering

Book Geometric Modeling and Processing 2000

Download or read book Geometric Modeling and Processing 2000 written by Ralph Martin and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 434 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Annotation The 39 papers anticipate the first in a series of biennial international conferences on solid modeling, shape representation, and geometric computation, all of which are procedures important in a wide range of disciplines, including computer graphics, computer aided design, computer vision, medical imaging, and scientific computation. The largest number of them address various ideas in curve and surface modeling, from long-standing issues such as interpolation and approximation to recently popular ideas such as polyhedral and subdivision methods and more specific areas such as blending, deformations, implicitization, and parametrized design. Attracting the second most attention is solid modeling, from such perspectives as inputting models from sketches and from scanned data, subdivision modeling, and trimmed patches. Discussions of applications include polygon mesh refinement in computer graphs, modeling the draping of cloth, generating moulds, and watermarking polygon meshes for security.
